We arrived 10 minutes early for our table which turned out to be still busy, which was perfectly fair enough. It was unfortunate that there was no bar for us to wait at, we were advised to go elsewhere for a drink first. I understand that this is a space issue, but it would have been nice to have been able to start our evening with a drink rather than be chucked out to wander the streets for 15 minutes/go to a bar/pub. Our table was booked for 8.15pm. 2 of our party ordered the shared steak dish (was it the chateau briande?), but we were told that the last one had just been sold this seemed a shame. However, we ordered steak as an alternative and the food was delicious. When we came to settle the bill, 2 of the couples were treating the other couple, who had just got engaged, so it was our treat. We wanted to split the bill between 2 couples. The young lady who sorted this out for us must have shouted the total amount about 3 times, even though I tried to indicate that as it was a treat we didn't want the amount shouted round the restaurant! We did laugh, but it was a bit unfortunate! A great night though and delicious food. Thank you.
We received a warm welcome - very pleasant staff. Excellent lunch and reasonable prices for the high standard of the food. The restaurant itself was clean, attractive and welcoming. Would be happy to go to the Cote Brasserie again.
Love Cote Winchester. Eat there often. Excellent menu with delicious food and good choice of beverages all at reasonable prices. Popular restaurant with buzzing ambience, and welcoming staff giving good service. The few, if any problems, are well handled, which I think is always a good sign.
A really nice dinner in a smart restaurant. The duck breast was perfect for me and the steak was enjoyed by my wife too. We will certainly be visiting Cote again.
We experienced really great service and lovely food. As a group of 6 we couldn't fault it at all. We will be returning again. Thanks
Lovely food and surroundings, good service. One criticism, food served on cold plates. Calamari served in a COLD skillet, therefore only the top layer was warm! Same with the mains, two served on cold plates therefore the meals were only luke warm. Not nice. We were not charged for the starter and we didn't complain about the two main meals as we didn't want to spoil the evening.
Wonderful food and setting. Had lovely in season Asparagus to start, beautiful tuna nicoise salad (cooked perfectly med rare and so tender) with the recommended red wine plus a tart tatin. Hubby had special starter, beautifully cooked lamb rump and ice cream to finish. The birthday complementary kir royale topped it off ... thank you!
Not impressed with the quality of food, nor with the apparent policy of automatically adding an 'optional' 12.5% gratuity charge to the bill which we paid, but disapprove of in practice and principle.
Fast becoming my favourite restaurant. Fabulous food, excellent service, great atmosphere. Loved it. Would recommend to anyone celebrating something special or who just wants a good value top notch hit of French cuisine.
Lovely food and great service. The special lunch is such good value- asparagus starter delicious, cod goujons beautifully cooked and served. Creme caramel as always superb.
Once again, an excellent meal at Cote Winchester. Such tasty food and good service. Was going to take off a mark because half of the desserts ordered arrived a bit late, but I really did enjoy everything else so top marks it is. Definitely one of my favourite restaurants in Winchester.
The service was good. The food was far to salty, the vegetables had to be bought as extras. Small portions and expensive. Wouldn't go again.
Very pleasant ambience. Good menu with sufficient choice. Food exceeded our expectations. Service was excellent. Staff very obliging and welcoming. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.
Quick, efficient service. Eating with two of my Children so when I asked, was seated out of the way - Food as always was perfectly acceptable. Enjoyable and stress free for an agreeable price.
Eaten here several times and have yet to be disappointed as the menu changes monthly. Staff are helpful and cheerful. Can recommend it...... So book now!
On a quiet Sunday evening our service was very attentive but not over the top and as usual the food was excellent value and delicious
Amazing service and lovely food. The atmosphere was very relaxed but also had a nice lively buzz about the place. We were served warmly and promptly. Top marks!
Excellent friendly service as always. The Breton chicken was moist and succulent. I may have introduced new customers for you, my friend had never been before but is definitely coming back.
All was as we come to expect now, great service and food. Love that we are not rushed through the meal or the bill is brought before we are ready.
The restaurant was a bit noisy but those concerned did settle down eventually . Staff were very tentative & I really enjoyed the meal & experience
Delicious food, excellent service, lovely decor. Scrumptious fresh sourdough baguette with perfectly soft butter kept me going whilst I waited for my friend to arrive. To begin, I had French onion soup and my friend had steak tartare. Both expertly seasoned. I have a heavy hand with the salt pot but I didn't need it this evening. For our main courses I had duck and she had pork belly. My gratin would have looked better served in a dish as her was, but that did not detract from the creamy, crispy texture. Duck was cooked perfectly, my only gripe was that a bit more sauce and a few more cherries would not have gone amiss. Pork belly was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, served on a huge pile of greens and a side dish of the yummy gratin. No puds but I know from experience the creme brûlée is exactly what you want from that French dish!
Another very pleasurable meal at Cote Winchester - lovely atmosphere, delicious complimentary wine, and great food. Inexperienced waitress was the only reason for not rating a 6 - but a delightful girl nonetheless.
This was a first visit to a Cote restaurant . We booked it to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were treated to a few special surprises which made our day. Thank you.
A good lunch served by friendly staff. We have made several visits and have been satisfied on all occasions. I would recommend this venue to others
Very busy restaurant, staff were lovely, service good but a little quick at times. we ordered olives and bread and teh Starter came almost at the same time.
Cote Brasserie Winchester very clean venue, staff pleasant and helpful. Service very good. Early evening menu was excellent value so much so that our drinks bill (a coke, small glass of wine and two coffee's) came to more than the food bill. Don't ever like the fact that the gratuity is assumed and added in without it being pointed out.
A pleasant meal, service was good and unable to fault anything. Excellent value for money and no doubt will return again. Have been to many branches previously and always been a satisfied customer.
As always food and service at Winchester cote brasserie of very good quality. We ordered from monthly set lunch menu so very good value too.
A celebratory meal for 2 with delicious food, realistically priced, friendly fast service, and a pleasant environment. We shall return before long I am sure.
Good friendly service, very helpful with our voucher. Really lovely starters, all 4 of us thought they were excellent. The mains were more disappointing as the mussels in the fish stew and the risotto were well overcooked. We all enjoyed the creme caramel and coffee afterwards.
We go regularly to Cote at Winchester, usually before a visit to the Theatre or Cinema, and we have never been disappointed with the food or service, Cote have got it spot on. Well done Cote!!
Winchester Cote restaurant never disappoints with a warm welcome, good service and delicious food. The menu has a variety which satisfies the smaller or larger appetite and the children's menu goes down well too.
Excellent but would like to be actually given the option of adding the 'optional' gratuity to the bill on the card machine rather than it being added by default.
Lovely food, extremely tasty. However, I Would have liked a slice of bread with my soup. I had the set meal, which was good value.
Great food and service. We were a large group so the time we had allocated was not quite enough for the service to keep up with. Very high standard
Nice friendly and attentive waiter and good food. We booked a table for 1.15 and arrived early but it was not a problem. The chicken and the salmon fishcakes were superb.
Lovely crab starter/lamb main good and cool crisp Sauvignon blanc. Table at front was good. Very pleasant meal. Not sure why this web site makes you enter 25 words!
Seating was comfortable. Service was not brisk but the food was very good, especially the fish pie as not too much potato ! Overall, good.
Always enjoy good food and caters well for gluten free/coeliac disease. Good service and a reasonable cost per person. Would recommend to others no problem
Table was reserved as requested, food excellent and served by a very pleasant young lady. We were unhurried and thoroughly enjoyed a very pleasurable lunch experience.
