The restaurant is set in a charming period building. Great food - sashimi and 'new rolls.' Service was great - recommended. When compared to nobu and saka na hana, I must say I preferred the food here although this restaurant is slightly on the quieter side, which suits me fine ( I attended on a Friday night, there were fellow diners on the 1st floor, however, the ground floor was closed).
Kouzu is situated on a seemingly busy corner so I was pleasantly surprised to find the dining area was quiet and easy for conversation over lunch. The food was excellent with a simple but good choice of wines. Service was excellent: explanations efficiently given for any questions regarding the menu and food brought promptly with a smile. I would definitely recommend the restaurant.
Food was very delicious. Staff were friendly and very quick service which is very impressive. Overall Kouzo offers an enjoyable experience, with some real effort being made to get high quality ingredients, a pleasant room and friendly staff.
What attracted to me to this restaurant was the variety, as my father is allergic to fish. There were a fair few meat options, which was perfect. All the traditional sushi was also available. I'm not so keen on the concept of new-wave sushi myself (ie: the fashion for a sushi/ceviche crossover) however I think the yellowtail sashimi with truffle dressing was the highlight of the meal. The salmon in soy and yuzu was not as successful. We followed with mains including the black cod and sea bass, both which were excellent. Such a shame that we were let down by the desserts, which were really bland. The service was also untrained, which for a restaurant of this calibre rather took us by surprise. Definitely an enjoyable meal however.
Good bar at the entrance level. Food was excellent - delicious beef tataki, spicy rock shrimp tempura, spicy California roll, spicy soft shell crab roll, Alaskan blue eye cod and Wagyu beef. All reasonable sized portions. Service very good and friendly. Not inexpensive but not prohibitive. What really let it down was that we were sat at an awful table right at the top of the stairs and the guy on the table beside me was closer to me than I was to my dining partner so make sure you ask to not have one of those tables.
The sashimi was excellent, and the service was first class. Very nice saki, and the sea urchin nigiri was like nothing I've ever tasted before. Sublime.
We very much enjoyed our visit to Kouzu, we had the mushroom starter which was fabulous. We were a little disappointed with our main meal, we chose the tempura vegetables, the batter was very greasy, I scraped the batter off and ate the veg, which consisted of a tiny baby carrot, a slice of aubergine, part of a spring onion and some other veg that I can't remember, a small portion size meal. We did have desert but I can't remember what. The restaurant was very stylish and the staff were pleasant and attentive.
me and my friend enjoyed the cocktails we had, also the prawns were very tasty. the place was very clean and service was good. we had a friendly welcome, we will go back to kouzu.
Best Japanese food I've had in London so far. Try the way beef and black cod! The sashimi was also super fresh, you won't get better.
As you walk in from Grosvenor square, you are met by very friendly and accommodating staff. The decor is simple and tasteful. There is a wide selection to choose from for all tastes. Overall - Great service and delicious food!
The service was appalling and when asked for a discount to compensate for this, the response was that we wouldn't have to pay the 'discretionary' service charge. I would not recommend this place.
I suggest to take the rolls and the hot starters which deserve full points. The tempura was not one of the best, really oily. Salmon teriyaki was nothing special. Dessert were good in particular the chocolate dome. Cocktail were good but a little bit too ice. The location is really good.
It was alright for the price. Sushi rice was a bit stale and hard, and they did not have the whole selection of sashimi - i.e. uni & ootoro - which disappointed me as I had chosen a more upscale japanese restaurant in hopes of eating these in london.
Amazing staff, amazing location, amazing venue amazing atmosphere and amazing food. My best friend and I went for my birthday and it was just incredible. Booking there again soon.
Great little restaurant, beautifully presented sushi & tempora. Staff are friendly & helpful. One of very few decent (& non-chain) restaurants in Victoria. Would recommend!
The food was great, amazingly fresh fish and very creative sushi. The service was very courteous, they also were very helpful to find a special meal to one of the parties who had some dietary restrictions.
Good food and a good atmosphere with friendly service. The pre theatre menu was very good value - might be in the 'treat' price range for us otherwise.
Food very good, service attentive despite it being valentines weekend, chef happy to explain any dish, recommend sitting at the sushi bar, seats very comfortable which is sometimes missing from modern restaurants
The restaurant and bar are very laid back and cool. The food wasn't bad, although I was expecting it to be better for the price: I've been to similar pan Asian restaurants in London at a similar price point and have enjoyed nicer meals. The service was very slow, something echoed by the tables either side of us - we had to call them over to take our order each time. The staff were very busy and forgot to bring our second round of drinks even though we asked them twice. To be fair to them they did take all the drinks off the bill when we pointed out we had been charged for drinks we never got.
Amazing place, food was the best I've tasted in a long time. I will definitely be booking to go again very soon. Myself and my girlfriend really enjoyed our night there.
Went on a LivingSocial voucher. The ambience is warm and lighting subdued, and ideal for any sort of occasion. The welcome was warm, and after coming off a plane (late) they moved our booking later without any problem. The limited menu, as part of the voucher, was tasty. We opted for the specialty of the restaurant, poussin: Delicious. The sushi was tasty, though expensive for the amount put in front of us. What do you expect for £39.99 for a 4 course for 2? Would we go again? Possibly, but there are many other sushi restaurants in London, and it would be a bit trite to ignore the others.
Nice restaurant. Black Cod not the best choice. For Sushi and sashimi perfectly ok. Really good service. Overall I would say I will come back.
Wonderful food with attentive service. Ideal healthy lunch. Will definately visit again. Had the fixed menu but will go a la carte for dinner next.
The "sushi platter for two" was barely a starter - some false advertising on the special offer! Food was delicious, though, and the drinks very well prepared. A nice evening.
Great service with a smile, exquisite flavours and welcoming ambience. Sushi varieties are top notch as are the drinks for those who don't wish to have a boozy sitting.
Lovely restaurant with a really cosy atmosphere. Both food and drinks were great although a little slow to take order and bring out. Would definitely recommend.
staff were nice, food wise the yellow tail with truffle oil was excellent ( though no taste of truffle) but we still loved it. the rest of the food was very average. there are much better sushi and fusion restaurants for the same prices.
Outstanding restaurant! Very friendly staff There is a complete japanese menu with a decent wine list. Good value for the money.... Definitely a come back
Nice place, staff r courteous n delivered a good service. We were 7 in group and we all had a good time. Surely we'll be visiting again!
