We pre-booked a table approx 45mins prior to arriving and there was plenty of availability and so we expected it to be quiet and probably lacking in atmosphere, how wrong we were. The restaurant was very busy and the atmosphere was warmly welcoming and pleasant. The table was dressed formerly yet it felt comfortable and not stuffy. We ordered from the lunch menu and all three of us decided to have the fish and chips, WOW! We can honestly say these are in our top 5 of all fish and chips that we've eaten. Beautifully cooked fish in a light, crispy and non greasy batter, served with homemade hugely chunky chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce. We also ordered from the doggy menu a portion of sausage, mash and peas which he devoured. A fab portion and not a drop left for him, it was lovely to see a dedicated doggy menu and quite the novelty. Service from everyone was superb and we will 100% return and recommend. Great job from all for a fabulous lunch.

A very nice pub but we felt the food was expensive for what we got. Also the menu is very limited.

Disappointed with menu overall, thought it would have been Al a Carte

There was no Sunday menu although I called to ask days before and told there would be, stayed as was new years eve and to book a table somewhere so late would have been a nightmare, when the food arrived it was cold and not the normal high quality.

Visited on 27th Dec during our Christmas break in the area. Had a very good welcome and although the evening menu was limited, it offered a good choice. The main course portions were good however, we found the desserts a little pricey. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. Overall we had a good meal and would return but we may not choose a dessert if prices remain high.

Fantastic food and brilliant service, couldn't fault a thing. Ambiance was lovely and we all had a great afternoon, will definitely be back.

Our pre-Christmas family lunch was a great experience and we will definitely be back. Even though our party included a very large dog and a very small baby, we were made to feel extremely welcome and nothing was too much trouble.

great christmas decorations, great christmas menu, food was tasty and hot, just the clearing of the plates was a little slow especially as the young man came in a looked at the other table 3 times and didn't look at us just walked out empty handed. Otherwise perfect.

I booked this as a surprise birthday meal for my wife and we took our daughter who lives locally. Our Springer 'Moss' was allowed in under the table and the table waitress, called Karen was lovely. She was very attentive without being too much, and at the end of the meal Karen brought my wife's dessert with a birthday candle upon it and even started off the singing of 'happy birthday'. We have been there twice before in other years, but this occasion was by far the best. The meals were of good quality and very enjoyable. A really pleasant experience :)

We booked a meal at 6.00 pm on Saturday 9th December 2023. We had an absolutely wonderful experience. The food and drink was exceptional, and every staff member was unbelievably helpful and friendly. Without doubt this was the best dining out experience that we have experienced for a long time.

Food was divine, atmosphere very enjoyable and very relaxing. The service was out of this world. Can't wait to go back.

This pub is simply a gorgeous place to eat and drink. Warm and cosy, with attention to every detail. They even have a menu for dogs which are very welcome in the bar.

Booked a table for five plus two dogs, but unfortunately due to the weather one of our party couldn't make it. We all really enjoyed our meals, the staff were really friendly and they even have a doggy menu! I couldn't fault a single thing, it was a real pleasure.

Another lively meal at the Northumberland Arms. The lamb I had was very tasty and the Yorkshire Pudding was immense.

Not impressed with the Sunday lunch asked for roast beef it was tough and the veg was hard. Pork belly was poor, tiny amount on plate.

Went for a lunch with old school friends. Have not been for several years. On a coldish winters day we were seated next to the log burner which was nice and kept us warm! The service was attentive and sympathetic throughout. We ate from the lunchtime menu which offered enough variety for our needs. The batter on the fish and chips was the best I have tasted in many a year. The food and the attention to detail was superb and next time we have lunch out, it would be our pleasure to return.
