Red Onion

Red Onion was a great food experience. Some thing different, scottish cuisine with a twist, and would recommend. First time at the restaurant but will certainly be back 🙂

Absolute gem of a place loved it ! Had fillet steak and it was cooked to perfection, everything about this place is perfect would definitely recommend

Lovely meal, helpful staff & our vegan meals were really delicious. Burger a bit dry could do with some fried onion on bun. Asked for vegan mayonaise, once that on burger it was lovely. Lovely chilled atmosphere.

It was very good apart from at the end we asked to see the dessert menu but it never can and we had to leave as we couldn’t wait any longer

Visited with my mum after seeing jersey boys at the kings theatre, was booked for 6 pm arrived at 5.30 were welcomed and shown to our table without having to wait which was good as it was a cold night, food was outstanding as usual, have been to red onion often and would recommend it, have enjoyed food every time I have eaten here, mum enjoyed her meal also, will be back next time in Glasgow for a meal .

Great food, the tasting menu is definitely something worth going for. And the wine pairing was brilliant. Service was fantastic, couldn’t fault it. Would definitely return.

We had the lunch menu. Exceptionally good food, good choice and great value for money. The service is also incredibly good and attentive, Could not fault it. Have been here several times now and look forward to the next one.

Great meal. Good atmosphere & friendly staff. Menu had a wide choice. Good selection of wines. We really enjoyed our afternoon out. Will go again.

I have always had a fantastic meal in here. The staff are very friendly and helpful. All dietry requurements catered for. Pre-theatre deals are well priced too.

Excellent quality food and drink. Good to see the boss out front mingling with the customers too. Not my first visit and it definitely won't be my last.

Lovely place, delish food and a very personal touch. The bang bang chicken and the risotto were outstanding. So much so I've booked for 25 of us in June

Here as a part of a group of 4. One of our group was vegan. Really impressed with the choice of meals available. We all loved our meal food excellent with excellent service. Will definitely return.

The comfortable, welcoming surroundings were topped off by great service with attentive staff and fabulous food. Excellent food for the price. Have been 4 times now and will definitely be back for more.

Amazing, well designed plates of food. Great that they cater to vegans or anyone requiring a gluten free diet. Atmosphere and service were excellent. It will visit again soon

We loved the food and the ambience. The only downside was watching the male server use his hands to handle the cut bread from a large container. He had previously emptied the bin and no sign of cleaning his hands.. One of the female servers used antibacterial gel and used a napkin to remove the bread before serving. I'm sure they have all been on a hygiene course and know what they should do.

Food was very good and staff were friendly, polite and efficient. It was busy which is always a good sign and there was a pleasant atmosphere

This restaurant was recommended by a friend but totally overrated... food just ok ... Steak was so thin that even medium/rare it was tough ...

Great to have a wide choice of veggie/vegan options. Excellent food and friendly service. We had a lovely evening. We will definitely be back soon and recommend it to others.

Not impressed. Slow service and unnecessarily deep fried goats cheese on the salad? Why do that when you can grill it? Steak frites was stringy and tough (ordered rare).

Food was delicious and no faults at all. Staff friendly and pleasant. Service was very good. Husband was disappointed he could not have a draught lager. Will visit again.

Very enjoyable three course meal at a reasonable price. The service was excellent and the staff are always willing to accommodate any special requests for tables etc.

This was my first visit to The Red Onion and I will be back. Being gluten free I was recommended the Red Onion as it has gluten free menus and can be trusted. It can be tricky eating out but this was a joy. The food was terrific as were the staff. I will pass the good news on.

This is the third time I have eaten here. The usual high standards of both cooking and staff attention have been maintained. Such consistency is rare in my experience. Highly recommended.

Food was unique and very tasty. Very good gluten free range. Very reasonably priced for some excellent quality food. Service was also very good and staff knowlegable about the menu.

Used itison voucher. service was extremely slow and got progressively worse with long wait between courses during the meal despite being a weds evening and fairly quiet. Only asked once if we would like another drink and failed to deliver when we did, never asked if we enjoyed our meal or wished anything else. Portion sizes were small and although relatively tasty nothing to write home about.

Food excellent although 1 soup sent back not warm enough. Sat in naughty corner below speaker which was too loud. Asked to tone down but no noticable difference. After main was served no waiting staff even looked our direction for 25 minutes so no extra drinks round and gave up on dessert and coffee. Told waitress, who muttered apology. No show at table by whoever was in charge on the floor. Poor show John !

Good food including extensive vegan menu. Good service too. Only downsides are some flashing lights over the big mirrored wall, and the water in the toilet wash hand basins was chilly++

We had the Pre-theatre menu. It was very good value for money and excellent food. Nice staff very attentive and friendly. We will definitely be going back.

Nice menu, helpful staff. Felt we waited a little long to be served, wouldn't even have noticed it had it been at night, but in lunch hour, it's good to get fed quickly and back to work. First time there, would recommend and certainly return for another meal. Very nice.

Excellent meal and great choices for our table which included gluten free, vegan and eat anything diners. The staff were really nice as well. I would certainly recommend Red Onion.

I visited on a Sunday evening with my two teenagers, We found fantastic food, great service, and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. We'll be back again soon!

Superb food and great value for money. Restaurant has a lovely atmosphere with friendly and professional servicing staff. Excellent choice of food and wine. I highly recommend Red Onion for any occasion from small and intimate to large celebration.

Very reasonably prices with excellent service. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. This is my second time at this restaurant and will definitely be back.

A pleasant evening spent in the company of family. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Reasonably priced and a good variety of dishes to choose from . Mixed reactions about execution of dishes. Great French onion soup and chicken dishes. Monkfish overcooked and dry. Some dishes piping hot others just warm. Overall average for food.

Outstanding food on the taster menu with great variety. The service was excellent and the chef came out for a chat at the end which was a nice touch. Would highly recommend!

Service was fine - basic. Decor needs some attention - feels outdated. Drinks were good. Food was sub par - I’ve never been to Glasgow before and as we love food I tried to do a lot of reaseach and this restaurant had good reviews - however unfortunately for us the food didn’t live up to this. The flavours were either wrong or bland and just not cooked well. The food came out after just a few mins of ordering which is slightly worrying as it would indicate things are just heated up and served to you rather than being freshly cooked. I think this place needs some attention in more than one area. We ended up going back to our hotel to get desserts.

Food was very very average and completely overpriced for what it was. Nice staff and prompt service. The food was just disappointing. Wouldn’t recommend to friends which is always a good indication.

Even although we turned up on the wrong day (my fault) we were accomodated, although it was very busy at the time, excellent service and friendly staff.

The food was delicious and the service couldn't have been better. The waiter catered amazingly for myself and five friends - who were also impressed. I would definitely recommend.

Great place for lunch, with a good, value for money, lunchtime set menu. Staff are very friendly too. Pork & black pudding burger sounds odd but is great!

Nice enough. Might try it again for lunch. We had the set menu. My husband enjoyed the fishcake I had the steak which was just ok.

Just a great neighbourhood restaurant Seems to suit a variety of guests Cosy with friendly staff and an appealing short menu. Place you could be confident of recommending. Good value pre theatre offer I had a delicious spicy bang bang chicken noodle salad starter.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 course lunch today. It was great value for money. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly. The restaurant was very cosy with a fire blazing near to where we sat. I look forward to returning soon for lunch.

We were a group of dietary annoyances and each one of us were catered for, I am a veggie and didn’t realise there was a vegan menu, I will definitely be back to try!
