Just a great neighbourhood restaurant Seems to suit a variety of guests Cosy with friendly staff and an appealing short menu. Place you could be confident of recommending. Good value pre theatre offer I had a delicious spicy bang bang chicken noodle salad starter.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 course lunch today. It was great value for money. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly. The restaurant was very cosy with a fire blazing near to where we sat. I look forward to returning soon for lunch.
We were a group of dietary annoyances and each one of us were catered for, I am a veggie and didn’t realise there was a vegan menu, I will definitely be back to try!
Great meal for Mothers Day. Menu had decent variety, service was good but not too much, and food was of great quality and tasty. Will definitely return!
Brilliant meal. Excellent service from the staff. The Chef and owner even came out to our table as we had asked for fruit for our 6 month old baby. Very very accommodating
Excellent food in very relaxing surroundings. Service was friendly but not overbearing or pushy. Time between courses was ideal, enough time to enjoy each course but no too long so that the kids got bored. Altogether a great dining experience.
Gorgeous food , lovely atmosphere, defo be back, chef came round all tables and asked us how we enjoyed our experience, super lovely smashing great
We love dining at the Red Onion! This was our 4th visit and the food is always brilliant. Highly recommend it. One of our festive favourites.
Lovely food and a great choice on the menus, including the early evening menu. Nice atmosphere and attentive service. Early evening menu was good value too. Will be back.
Had the pre-theatre. Great choice, great food and great value for money. With all the snow I expected the choice to be limited but it wasn't. Service was also good.
The food was delicious. I was spoilt for choice but plumped for the scallops and pork. They did not disappoint. Service was excellent and surroundings very welcoming.
Been before, and as previously tasty food, nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Would recommend. Had the pre-theatre menu, the portions were not the largest but very tasty.
Had a great time. Lovely, warm atmosphere, great service and fabulous food. We had the pre - theatre meal, which had a great choice. I will definitely be back soon.
Great food and service. I enjoyed the bang bang chicken and my colleague had the french onion soup which also looked good. My colleague had sticky toffee pudding which looked good (maybe needed some dates in it) and I had a lovely chocolate pud.
Amazing, tasty and well thought out vegan food, service was really fast and staff were friendly , it was a little cold inside but would 100% be back
From the welcome to the last morsel, this was an exceptional dining experience. John Quigley certainly knows his onions and treated us very well. His own beer is also very good.
Warm atmosphere in restaurant and staff friendly and helpful. Good range of menus with fixed price, vegan and gluten-free choices available. Reasonably priced wide range of wines available.
The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere. We had the set pre theatre menu which was very good value for money. The young lady who served us was very friendly and provided a good service thank you
Great that the offer a full vegan menu alongside their standard menu. Food was great, staff very friendly and welcoming. Would eat there again in the future
This was our first visit and we enjoyed the food very much. We had the pre theatre menu, but thought the portions on the wee side.
Friendly welcoming relaxed atmosphere and great food which is superb value for money
Great lunch on the set menu - 2 courses for £10.95. Soup of the day for starter then the chicken paprika was very tasty, and others had bang bang chicken and then cod for main which was highly rated as well. Brilliant value, great food and presentation and lovely service. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Will be back soon!
Lovely Saturday night meal. The service and waiting staff were excellent. I ordered from the vegan menu and my partner from the regular menu. Starters, mains and desserts were delicious. Thank you!
really nice restaurant with excellent vegan option and food was served really quickly. Very reasonable priced as well. Just off Sauchiehall street so ideal location as well.
Excellent food, nice wine, friendly staff and great service. Various menus cater for vegans and dairy free customers. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and would go back there again.
Food was amazing. My partner is gluten free and there was a great choice for her. Will go back again I the future. Great value also
We loved food and ale whilst celebrating friend's birthday. Would have been 5* if staff had given more details on food combinations and sommelier tips. Would definitely return though. Janice
As always utterly fantastic food and service again for our anniversary. Fantastic place to eat. The grilled harissa octopus start is a must try! If you haven't been then you really should try it.
Food was good, portions a little unrefined. Service was middling, with several minutes of attention seeking required before we were able to order coffee and again when we were looking for the bill. Place could do with a deep clean (lots of dusty light fittings and fake flowers) and litter round the bar. Decent value for money < £50 (inc 10%+ tip for two courses, one glass wine & 2 coffees)
Great friendly staff. Great food. Overall great lunch experience. Nice warm friendly restaurant with lots of room not crammed in like some places. Worth a visit
Red onion is by far the best restaurant in Glasgow. The food is amazing and so much choice on the menu. The staff are very attentive and friendly. I will be back and would definitely recommend it.
Excellent all round ..... very friendly, efficient service, nice atmosphere and great food. Varied menu and wine list. Would recommend the monkfish tail on ragout.
Good city centre location restaurant with neat atmosphere. The set lunch menu provided a good and interesting range of tasty food choices. Excellent service .
Good food and atmosphere. We had a lovely meal. The service was great too. I just wished that the vegan menu changed from time to time.
Service was exceptional and specific requests were dealt with easily and with no fuss. The food was wonderful and great value for money. 2 of the 3 diners hadn't visited Red Onion before and were really impressed.
Fantastic pre theatre meal - 2 courses for around £15. Beautiful food, friendly helpful staff and lovely surroundings. The Red Onion is always spot on. Gluten free options always brilliant. Love it and will keep returning.
Have always wanted to go to the red onion and wasn’t disappointed. Both the food and service was very good and good value for money.
Warm cozy vibe, good service and great quality food and consistent as always, my go to place in Glasgow to take friends from out of town
Great food with good variety on the menu ( we chose pre- theatre). Staff were friendly and attentive and served our food and drinks promptly. We will definitely be back.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Red Onion yesterday evening. The service was excellent, and all the staff were very friendly and seemed to be very happy to be working there. The atmosphere was great fun. The food was very good, and very good value for the price, plus the wine was excellent. I can certainly recommend Red Onion, and hope to be back soon.
Fantastic food with seperate gluten free menu. Great choice and good value for money. Good customer service and environment cosy, comfortable and enjoyable. Definitely recommend.
Really friendly and good food. Not a “fancy” or too sophisticated space but It’s always what it’s in the plate that makes the difference in a dining experience, and food was absolutely spot on!
Lovely place. Great staff and amazing food catering for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans in our group. Thank you - we will return soon hopefully
Always a good, fast and friendly service. The goats cheese starter is a particular favourite. Prices are very reasonable for city centre and plenty of on-street parking.
We had a nice meal on Valentines night but we’re restricted to the set Valentines menu. I had pate, sirloin and apple crumble all of which were nice but not particularly special. My husband had vegetable soup, sea bass and crumble. The soup and bread portion was fairly small and the sea bass was extremely small in comparison as it was one fillet of fish, a small potato rosti and a small salad. It certainly wasn’t enough to feed a 6’ 2” man and was significantly less food than the steak meal which was disappointing. I can’t help but feel we paid a lot more for a lot less because it was Valentines. The service was lovely but we left feeling a little disappointed. We’d give it another chance on a normal night.
Great food and service. We were having a pre theatre meal and the staff made sure we were served quickly and efficiently. Would definitely return and recommend.
Should have specified we didn't want a table near the door, was a bit draughty. Was looking forward to haddock risotto ,but only mushroom on the menu , so I suppose I was disappointed from the outset. Skinny chips have replaced the lovely Thick hand cut chips I remember eating here. The fish cake I ordered was nice as was the wine. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his steak .
Went for a lovely valentines meal. The food was amazing and the service was quick and attentive. Definitely be back, but book to avoid disappointment as we seen lots of couples being turned away
Lovely food and service excellent. Great location in the heart of Glasgow city. Ambience of the restaurant is lovely and cosy. Staff attentive. Toilets could do with a little upgrading.
The service was very good with friendly attentive staff. The food was great and excellent value for money for the pre theatre menu. We will be back.
