It's about 20 years since we last visited Red Onion and we weren't disappointed on our return. We had a lovely Saturday afternoon lunch and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Happy to recommend it as somewhere calm and soothing to enjoy great food. Already planning a return visit for a wider family celebration.

Delicious food, cosy atmosphere, and very friendly service! It’s rare to find a place that caters so well to both vegans and coeliacs; looking forward to my next visit!

I dined last night for the first time. Walking into the restaurant was a lovely surprise. It doesn’t look much from the outside but inside is beautifully decorated and spacious. They have a curtain at the door that stops the cold air from outside freezing the place whenever someone enters or leaves, I was at a table beside the door and was initially concerned but I was not cold at all. I had the fixed price menu. I had the french onion soup with a double melted cheese crouton and it was delicious, this was followed by the pork and chorizo which also did not disappoint. Staff were lovely and attentive and I will definitely be returning

Loved the bang bang chicken starter. Prk main was OK. Coffee lovely. Wine a bit pricey and thought I'd ordered Pinot Grigio but Pinot noir a bit too sweet for me

Food & service were fantastic. The only wee thing was that we were sat right at the door. We did think of asking to be moved however you could clearly see tables specifically set up for other bookings.

I've visited this restaurant a number of times now and it doesn't disappoint. The waitress spoke to us within seconds of us arriving and made sure that we were seated at a table near to the fireplace which was perfect for my wife. We were served with drinks very quickly and we didn't have to wait long for our food order to arrive. In my view the food was of a very good standard and we both very much enjoyed or time there again. Will return for sure.

We thought the atmosphere was cosy and inviting with the perfectly balanced lighting. And the twinkling lights a nice addition. We had a table for 4 between two of us so plenty of room. Seating very comfortable. Our food was nice, but not outstanding, the steak cooked perfectly. The staff very polite. Rate it 8/10.

Superb tasty and perfect if you are coeliac. They have a dairy and wheat free menu along with a vegan menu. The food and I mean all of it is so tasty. We cannot recommend it more highly. We dine here every time we are in Glasgow. It is very centrally situated but just of the main thoroughfare. Perfect all round.

The Red Onion has a great selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes. The food is delicious. I struggled to eat 3 generous courses. Good value for money and a lovely wine selection. Friendly staff very busy with large parties which caused small delays for us. The large Xmas parties on the ground floor also accounted for some noise but not unbearable. We were seated in an upstairs booth which was more intimate and comfortable. Overall a fine dining experience experience.

Very festive atmosphere given the nicely arranged Christmas decorations. Friendly and attentive service which was appreciated. The food was generally very good. I would make two points: 1. The fish cake was too salty. It had a very good flavour which was a little overpowered by the salt. 2. Serving mayonnaise and ketchup in plastic bottles was disappointing. A small ramkin would have been more civilised. Otherwise, we had an enjoyable meal.
