Fab food and service, great with people with allergies or intolerances.....

A lovely meal, as always, with great service and good value for money. The only slightly annoying aspect of our visit is the addition of quite loud background 'music' which is not to our taste. The general decor could do with a bit of updating but the quailty of the food is as good as ever.

A lovely restaurant with nice features, living flame fire, nice ambient lighting giving a cosy relaxing atmosphere. Music playing in the background but not loud that it was obvious. Staff pleasant and attentive without being intrusive. Food was very nicely presented, and tasted absolutely lovely, cooked to perfection (beef dish so tender it just broke away as soon as knife and fork touched it, bang bang chicken starter was amazing) . Our first visit and would happily go back again and definitely recommend it as somewhere special for a nice meal.

Very poor service service of food 40 minutes between between first & main course - however they did recognise this with free drinks - would go back as food was excellent.

Food was absolutely delicious, Staff were attentive but not intrusive. Menu was sufficiently extensive to suit all tastes in our party of six. The management have maintained the excellent reputation of this restaurant and is a suitable tribute to John Quigley. We will be back and quite soon.

An uncomplicated and very tasty meal which was good value. Service was polite, warm and efficient. Very easy to book. A great menu to suit a variety of tastes and dietary requirements.

Always a good experience at the Red Onion, and one of the few to offer menus for major dietary needs.

Excellent all round with beautifully presented and quality mains. In a rare experience I could taste the pork flavour. The team sat us by the fire which was a very nice touch.

Soup was cold. stack was cold as were the veg . stack was small so much chips to make plate look full.

This was my second visit and I’ll definitely be back again. Great atmosphere and we had a table beside the fire which was lovely. Menu choice was really good and our food was lovely. Staff members were all excellent. As our table wasn’t required back straightaway we were able to stay on for another glass of wine!

Very just scraping average which is a shame as I have visited a few times and this visit was just hitting below average , scallops were just ok , but too much kale, we waited a while for the pork and when it arrived it had obviously been sitting under the hot light for a while and the potatoes with the sauce were not parasol bravas , I’ll not be hurrying back which is a shame , but your standards have dropped I’m afraid , good luck
