Excellent experience would definitely recommend and return, great value for money

It was our first visit to the Red Onion. We had the pre-theatre 2 course meal. Although both courses were delicious, we both agreed that the red onion soup won hands up. The staff were very pleasant. We will certainly return.

Celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary, we booked the pre-theatre dinner as part of the day's activities.This was my first visit but my wife had been before. I had the bang bang chicken salad to start, which was beautifully presented and full of flavour. We both then had char-grilled chicken breast with rice and a korma sauce which, again, was perfectly presented but we both agreed independently that the chicken was very dry and I found I had to use a bit more effort to cut it than should have been necessary. I didn't complain because I didn't want to spoil the occasion and also I had a notion in my head that this was the famous "Red Onion" and something like this could not happen. Only the fact that my wife had the same opinion of the meal made me think again. Moan over. The restaurant was busy at 5pm, I really liked the ambience and the service was excellent; I plan to give it another go and hope my faith is restored. Paul O'Brien

The restaurant was recommended by our tour guide. The server was pleasant and made excellent recommendations - everything went well until a manager brought the bill. An unexpected service charge (tip) was already added although their menu clearly states it applied only to large groups. The manager was unable to explain why we received an unexpected charge, only to explain it changes depending on the time of day and what is going on in the restaurant. Nonsense. We believe it was because we were tourists. We paid the service charge but would have left a larger tip if it weren't for the dishonesty and attempt to slide it in unnoticed - disappointing.

Booked an itison deal for Red Onion and we were both very happy with the service, food quality and value of our lunch. Nice menu and they cater very well for different dietary requirements
