I always love going to Red Onion. Lovely restaurant, nice atmosphere and good food - what more could you ask for? We opted for the pre-theatre (which was still available at 8pm), my friend had the chicken tika and I had the vegetable tika both were very tasty. We following this with chocolate browine (yum!) and a seasonal crumble (double yum!). We shared a bottle of wine and the bill came in very reasonably. The owner/chef walked around chatting to folks which I think is a really nice touch. We are looking forward to our next visit, even more so now that I know there is a vegan menu to work my way through!

First visit to the Red Onion and it did not disappoint. We were greeted with a welcoming smile. The food was excellent, good portion size and full of flavor. The restaurant was busy on the Saturday we attended and the servers were not as attentive which stops us from giving top marks. Would highly recommend.

Food was good but not a vast choice. Wine a little on the expensive side. Service good and friendly. We enjoyed the experience but there are so many equally good restaurants in Glasgow to compete with

We thoroughly enjoyed a lovely lunch. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. The restaurant was full and customers were being turned away. Good ambience. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Nothing was a bother. Will definitely be back.

Very friendly staff and good food in a nice setting... Only downfall was having a large wooden pole at my back which made the experience a little uncomfortable during eating but a minor irritant...

Red Onion is a delightful restaurant - very tastefully designed and cozy. The food and service were both first class. My family lay and I were in for the pre-theatre menu which had loads of choice - even for outlet picky teenagers. Keenly priced too.

Lovely setting and very friendly and efficient staff. Ordered off the lunchtime menu - both starters were very nice (pate and tempura haddock). Both mains also tasty but a bit on the large side, felt like I was having to throw food down because of limited time we had for lunch. Other than that, great experience.

Great value for money - Friday evening set menu £14.95 for 2 courses for items which would have been much more on a la carte. Staff friendly and efficient, food absolutely delicious. Would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

The pre theatre menu has made the same for too long, time for a change? Also, renovation needed in the restaurant and toilets. Food still nice.

The food was great, atmosphere is nice. The staff are helpful and welcoming. The only downside is the 2hr time restriction on the table. We booked for 5:30, arrived slightly late but called ahead to advise were I was reminded of the table return time. It took 20mins for our food order to be taken, although this was not a problem, it is when you have a table return time. We did finish our meal 10mins prior to the return time, however had I not been reminded of this we would have ordered another bottle of wine with our mains and stayed for coffee but this may have taken an additional 30mins. The frustrating part of this is the restaurant was not busy when we left, there was no need for our table to be returned promptly or for the constant reminder there was a table return time,

Brilliant food and a great atmosphere. We all had a fantastic night. Excellent choice across the main menu but also a comprehensive vegan menu that allowed 2 of our party to enjoy a wide variety of dishes, rather than the usual stilted offerings. Thanks very much.

lunch menu had plenty of choice and was fantastic value for money. The food tasted delicious and portions were very generous. Staff were delightful.. One of our table was running 30 minutes late but we were never harassed or made to feel uncomfortable. I would highly recommend restaurant, especially for lunch/pre theatre.

Great pre-theatre menu which is good value for money. Gluten free menu reads like a real menu so our coeliac daughter doesn't feel like a nuisance. All food was delicious. Nice, comfortable environment. Staff are very efficient.

Great menu, excellent service, would definitely recommend this restaurant. Decor and setting were very pleasant as were the staff. The trio of Scottish bon bons was superb.

While the food and staff were lovely, the dinning experience itself could be improved. The decor is very outdated, the chairs are ripped and the tables could do with being covered with table clothes (or being replaced alltogether, to be honest). The whole atmosphere is not very inviting. We were in and out within an hour, which is a shame as the food per se was really nice!

Food was excellent, great atmosphere and the staff were lovely. All around a great night. Only (slight!) issue was despite putting it on my reservation and the restaurant catering very well for coeliacs (one of the reasons we were there), we still had to explain our requirements for our orders and this wasn't then picked up on our dessert order, one of which had to go back for a quick replacement due to a wafer issue. Still would recommend to anyone though, and will very likely be back!

Overall I enjoyed my visit, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The meal was great value for money however I did not enjoy my steak - not sure of the cut but wouldn't recommend that. The vegan menu had very good variety and the portion sizes were good.

Second time I went and it was amazing! I am vegan so it's always a bit tricky to find something really delicious but Red Onion never disappoints! My mum came to visit Glasgow for the first time and she loved it so much she had 3 courses! That never happens! We will definitely be back.

Excellent food and service. The crispy seafood starter was feather light and the monkfish curry delicious. We were extremely well looked after by the staff and the Chilean Chardonnay went down a treat.

Nostalgia was the driver for the return visit - but that won't happen again. The visit overall was very disappointing and the following will give a flavour of the most unsatisfactory points:- From memory the seats at the window are always cold - and my memory served me well. To order one type of risotto and be presented with something completely different - because "there are too many menus and the waitress got confused" - was not a good start. Then to wait 55 minutes to order and receive a dessert (a mediocre brownie and ice cream) is completely unacceptable. The service provided by 3 members of staff was inadequate - particularly as the restaurant was not busy. We visited (prior to a theatre) as it was a special wedding anniversary - and although adjustments were made to the bill to compensate for the poor service - it did mar what was otherwise a special occasion.
