Very impressed with this restaurant. Loved the red/purple design & spacious table room. I visited years ago & had forgotten what a gem it is. There was four of us & the pre-theatre menu had plenty and varied choices to suit everyone at £16.95 for 3 courses. Good amount of food but I wasn't stuffed, which was good as we were heading to the theatre. Service was professional but friendly. This is definitely on my list to revisit.

Excellent food and great ambience. It is rwakky good to find a restaurant that takes gluten free food seriously. Well worth the visit. The waitresses were wonderful too.

had the two course lunch, tasty, not exciting or innovative. Service reasonable, all in all nothing to complain about but nothing to rave about either, fair value for money.

My party and I had a lovely evening. The food was great particularly the fact that there was a good vegetarian menu. The wine prices were a bit expensive, however.

Our first time at the Red Onion, but it won't be our last. Excellent food, really good friendly service and a delightful atmosphere. We particularly enjoyed the duck, and I loved the frozen raspberries with hot chocolate sauce.

Ate off the lunch menu, French Onion Soup was fantastic to start! Both mains were of very high quality (pork loin and lemon chicken) - couldn't fault any dish, and was very good value!

Food and service were both excellent. A minor issue with my friend's chicken dish was quickly sorted out by the friendly and helpful staff. The atmosphere was good and although it was a warm night the temperature inside the restaurant was pleasant. We were not rushed in any way and they were happy to give us a good break between our main course and our sweets. It was nice to meet John Quigley himself when he came round the tables later in the evening.

Red Onion came as a complete surpise - a very pleasant one. I couldn't believe I hadn't known about it before. The food was great, the sauces delicious, the ambience comfortable and the service perfect. There is a varied choice and the menu changes each day. I will definitely be back now that I have found this treasure.

Absolutely first class. We took our son there (he is vegan, we are not!) and we all had a super meal. The waitress was extremely helpful and friendly, the atmosphere was perfect - busy but we still felt we had our own space. Nothing was too much bother and we will certainly go back next time we are in Glasgow.

Good food as always and excellent service. Air conditioning might have improved the experience as it was very hot in the restaurant due to the good weather, however both doors were open to try and help.

Excellent restaurant and very good service. The chef creates beautiful dishes, based on classics but with a fresh take on them. And the prices are reasonable. Definitely recommend

A nice ambience, overall. The friendly chef took the time to speak to us, the staff were engaging and appeared genuinely interested in delivering a great experience. The food ... wow ... absolutely delicious!! We were previously regular guests at a restaurant around the corner, yet thought to try Red Onion for a bit of variety, and we are absolutely thrilled that we did so. Looks like we're changing our regular lunch location!!

Food was fairly average for me, but my 14 yr old son thought it was fantastic rating the bang bang chicken salad as a starter. The service was a little rushed to begin with.....that feeling that they want you in and out as quickly as possible which I found a little irritating - there are smart ways of achieving turnaround, leaving the customer feeling more appreciated. We were also shown to a table right next to the window which had a terrible draft - I had to wear my scarf whilst having dinner! The chef comes out to speak to customers which is normally a great touch, but not when he interrupts a conversation with the American holiday-makers sat next to us without even an 'excuse-me'. It's unlikely I will return.

Tasty food, really enjoyed our meal but for the price we would have expected a little better. The staff were polite and friendly and attentive enough without being annoying. I asked for a rose wine but was served white. I never complained as the wine itself was lovely :-) There wasn't a good choice of beer. We expected them to have Innis & Gunn given there is a dish on the menu using this but they only had Heineken or St Mungo.
