Staff nice but very disappointed with food. Had Steak frite. The steak was the worst I have ever eaten, very poor quality meat with freezer chips. Dessert was equally poor. Too many tables crammed into the mezzanine level. I won't be back!

Food and service was great, Afternoon service, but could have been more ambiance. Lost a mark for being sat next to an untidy service station.

Extensive vegan menu on offer (separate menu - just ask for it). Attentive and friendly service, delicious food. Nice ambience. Would recommend it readily, including for special occasions.

The duck was perfectly cooked, reasonable price, great atmosphere and great choice. Friendly welcome, the food was incredible, the flavours of the duck and steak were well balanced, the cheesecake dessert also a real highlight. I started with the Crab and Prawns and again these were cooked to perfection.

We went at lunchtime and loved it. Food is fantastic, great value for money and portions big. Staff are very professional and attentive but not in the hovering way or asking if you are enjoying the food when you have just stuck a forkful in your mouth :). Highly recommend. Will definitely go back.

Brilliant food in a lovely restaurant. The menu was varied with our main problem being choosing between so many things we'd like. We'll be back very soon

Food was very good. We were sitting upstairs and as the restaurant got busy when the staff were coming upstairs with orders they were not looking around to see if any other tables needed attention. Perhaps a little more attention required. A very little niggle. Have been to this restaurant before and enjoyed hence our return visit.

I come here regularly for the Vegan Menu which is always a treat, lovely food. Nice atmosphere and very good service too! I like the set price for two or three course dinners too, well worth it!

Great food, attentive staff, good ambience. It's the number one choice for our ladies' lunches, and the set-lunch menu is changed regularly. Brilliant value too!

Food delightful, service great. Only issue - as soon as we sat down we were told we needed to be out by 6pm. Surely tables could just be managed rather than telling people they are on a time limit?

One of the most important parts of eating out for me is to firstly feel comfortable in my surroundings and in Red Onion this was true. The service and the food were outstanding, very friendly staff who gave our party plenty of time to deliberate the menu. The icing on the cake was to meet John Quigley - its good to know that it matters to him that his customers are well catered for. Will definitely visit again, perhaps for an evening meal next time.

Friendly, very attentive staff and delicious food. As a sufferer of coeliac disease I have rather specific dietary needs. They provided a gluten free menu with an excellent choice on both pretreatre and a la carte for me. They took time and care which gave me confidence. I will be returning for another visit.

We had been at Red Onion before when visiting Glasgow and had an excellent meal, and on this latest visi they certainly didn't disappoint. Another superb meal, so we know where we'll eat again next time we're here.

Very relaxing friendly atmosphere with service to match. A great menu with plenty of variety. Enjoyed that there were at least 2 vegetarian options for main.

First time we had been there. The decor, the staff and the food were all lovely. We were most impressed with the fact that our vegan son had a whole menu of vegan choices, not just the one veggie option that is normally on offer in restaurants. We will definitely be back.

We booked online. The restaurant was almost fully booked and we couldn't get our first choice of time. A good sign I suppose although irritating. One must be aware that nowadays Glasgow is blessed with a huge variety and number of excellent restaurants. We were greeted almost immediately when we entered and taken to our table and offered drinks. The place was packed and buzzing with seemingly happy dinners. This was at 5.30pm. The decor is practical, you can chat to neighbouring dinners if you are in the mood. All diners were nicely dressed but certainly not formally. No tattoos were visible (I'm slightly offended by this practice) The staff are friendly and helpful. The menu wide ranging. The food was tasty and the portions generous. We were told that the chef was the owner/proprietor, John Quigley. We would certainly return but would ensure to book early in order to obtain a table at a time we desired. All-in-all a pleasant experience.

It wasn't as good as expected, main courses were okay but nothing special, the gluten free crumble was a total joke, the "crumble" was smashed up ginger biscuits as found in supermarket. The results were therefore too pricey for what it was, which was a real shame. We wouldn't go back

Lovely main courses for lunch 2/3 of the starters were also very nice (Goats Cheese and Asparagus Soup), the only slight issue was that the Thai Fish Cake starter was had fish cakes which were really dense (more akin to chicken), not really the texture I would expect to a Thai Fish cake.

We go here regularly and the food and service is consistently excellent. The vegan menu is fantastic, and I'm assured by the non vegans, that the regular menu is of a very high standard. Good range of wines by the glass and overall excellent value for money. Absolutely recommend - particularly to vegans.

Chose this place deliberately for its extensive gluten-free menu as dining with coeliac friend and she was v impressed with the variety on offer. Staff were all very helpful. All in all, great city centre venue with a strong customer focus.
