Food was delicious and the pre theatre menu is an absolute bargain! Staff were lovely and special requests not an issue. Highly recommend, great meal, great experience.
We selected the pre theatre menu which had varied options. We were pleased with the standard of food and the service. The biggest let down was the lack of heat at one side of the restaurant. We were initially seated against the large drafty window & then moved to ‘nearer the fire’ which resulted in being seated next to the main door - bbbbrrrr!!! So food & service good but take an extra jumper!!
Lovely set menu. When booking we had mentioned that one of our party was coeliac. The Gluten Free menu is mostly the same as the normal one and was already on the table so we didn’t have to ask for it. Food was tasty. Service excellent.
Lovely, fresh dishes and nice atmosphere in the restaurant! Great service and very accommodating staff when we needed a couple of dietary adaptions to a couple of dishes!
What a lovely restaurant, the service was great, the food excellent and we were not rushed in any way, all in all a really special place to be
Lovely restaurant. Great staff. Pre theatre menu was really good value. But, mainly booed here for the Gluten Free options. Brilliant!! Only negative would be the men’s toilets-absolutely reeked 😩
Lovely food, good portion sizes and staff are very nice, polite and attentive. They also offer a gluten free menu which is really helpful. I would return
Food was delicious and fresh. Our server was lovely and very attentive without being intrusive. Meal was served promptly. This was my friend's first visit but we will be back.
Lovely food, good service and beautiful surroundings made an evening with friend very enjoyable. I would recommend this restaurant to all my friends who come to Glasgow
The food was delicious, as ever, offering lots of choice to meet our various dietary requirements. A friendly service in lovely, relaxed surroundings. We will be back!
Been to Red Onion many times. Whether lunch or dinner, the food never disappoints. Good wine selection, very reasonably priced, and convenient servings eg 500ml carafe which you don’t get everywhere. The set lunch menu is stonking good value- proper food in a proper restaurant.
Always Reliable and good value for money. Pre theatre meal was inexpensive but food was tasty and portions were adequate Go back often as it’s always good
We always have a wonderful time at Red Onion, and our visit in November 2018 was no exception. I have coeliac disease, and it's so lovely to have a place we can go for delicious food, where I can be 100% sure that I will have no ill-effects afterwards! The food is very reasonably priced, especially considering the quality and quantity you get. The service is always top-knotch. You have no doubt that someone will be around if you need something, but you don't have people hovering over you either. And everything is delivered with a smile! One of my favourite restaurants in Glasgow - definitely worth a visit!
Great menu and lovely food. House Red was lovely. Best dinner out I've had in a long time. I recommend the fishcakes. Will most certainly be back.
We booked a table for 5. The food was fantastic as was our service. I cannot fault a single thing and look forward to our next visit.
This was Our first time eating at "The Red Onion", it won't be Our last. The staff were very friendly and the food was superb.
My friends and I had a lovely lunch yesterday at Red Onion. The restaurant looks beautiful with the festive decorations and the food was well presented and tasty. Staff were friendly and helpful. Background music was not intrusive and we could hear ourselves talk. We enjoyed lunch so much, we agreed to book again for our next get together!
We had an excellent meal at Red Onion and would have no hesitation to recommend this. Food was amazing, staff are friendly and helpful and the decor was nice. One of us was a veggie and the other needed a gluten free option and they have menus for both which makes for a great dining experience so lots of choice. I can't wait to go back again.
Only comment First Class the Best in Glasgow Cannot beat the food & Service and the staff very cheerful and helpful The only place that my wife and myself eat when we visit Glasgow
First visit but won’t be the last-food was wonderful as was the service - staff very attentive fantastic value for money and a great menu something for everyone - fantastic
The food all four of us ordered was excellent. The waiting staff (I think her name was Amy) very attentive without being over intrusive. An enjoyable night.
Never had a bad meal at the Red Onion. Amazing food and staff are excellent. If you have never been you should give it a try.
Had a lovely lunch, even though the wrong meal was originally brought to our table the error was quickly resolved. Warm and welcoming staff, as always. The warmth of the fire quickly cheered us up on an otherwise cold and wet day. Hopefully I will return soon.
Excellent and friendly service, delicious food, good value. Five of us met up for lunch and we all agreed we would be back at the first opportunity.
Fab food great service very polite American waiter great value for your money second time I have been will defo be back friendly relaxing restaurant
excellent service. food always a delight . will definitely visit again
Sadly disappointing, ...having booked a table for four, we were squeezed into a table, next to the front door on a cold and windy November night. while tables at the rear and upstairs were empty. The starters were thoroughly enjoyed by all. The vegetables with the duck dishes were bland and the overall meals were small although the duck was delicious. The two persons having the fish goujons thought the fish dry and the overall dish poor. Didn't stay for dessert. Left hungry.
Excellent food and service. The ambience of the restaurants was just right and the roaring fire was very welcome coming in from a cold November day. Will be back.
Nicer than it looks in the photos. Delicious food with polite and helpful service. Service seemed a little slow but much prefer that to being rushed. Would definitely go back
A very good Sunday lunch for four. Good service, lovely food, with varied choice for vegetarian. I enjoyed the avocado salad starter and wild mushroom risotto...both to be recommended. Very reasonably priced.
Delicious food and lovely place to eat. The service was very good. Would definitely go back. Lunch menu very good value. Had the chicken salad and ribeye steak. Both excellent.
Fantastic food. Great service. Brilliant gluten free options. Best restaurant we have been to Glasgow. Would definately recommend for anyone who is Coeliac. We will certainly go back.
This is a lovely restaurant. The choice of food is excellent and tastes delicious. Reasonable priced pre-theatre menu. The service was excellent. Will return again
Food lovely. Don't understand tho why same menu is more expensive at weekends. Service was a little erratic but it was busy. Bread & water at table would be a welcome addition.
We had the pre-theatre menu which was very reasonably priced for two courses. The quantity of food was just right and the quality was superb. Service was attentive and friendly. I thoroughly recommend it.
Excellent service and excellent food. Nice environment and a good situation close to the shops. I would recommend the restaurant to my friends and family.
Excellent meal as always and Theatre meal was very reasonably priced. When in Glasgow will always pay a visit when can. Highly recommend this restaurant to any who visit Glasgow
This is my fifth time going to Red Onion for lunch is the last two months and I love it. The menu changes daily and there is always a friendly warm welcome to this cosy Scottish restaurant.
The food was great. The service efficient and wait staff courteous. Atmosohere cosy. Good choices on pre theatre menu. Would definitely go again. Close for theatre royal.
Fabulous food, fantastic staff and wonderful atmosphere. Super place to eat! Went with friends for lunch and we all had a great time. Value for money!
While always enjoy the set menu at Red Onion, surely it must be time for a change? Very busy and felt slightly short-staffed. Our wine order was forgotten and although we hadn’t complained, they didn’t charge for our desserts in recompense which was a nice gesture.
Nice setting. Great food. Like to have had a choice of table. None offered. Placed at the draughty door when others were free. Still enjoyed it though.
Very pleasant atmosphere: great attention and service by waiting staff. Then there is the food - all of it from the starter to the dessert was one of the best we had ever experienced. Well prepared and presented. The final "icing on the cake" was, of course, the taste experience - wow! We will be coming back and have already recommended the Red Onion to friends and family.
Great food and great service. Excellent selection for gluten free! Can’t fault. Lovely atmosphere and I lived my steak frites and goats cheese starter. Definitely be back.
4 of us dined, great experience. Food and service superb.. Have been before and will definitely go back. Prefer to sit downstairs...
Wonderful...amazing food, lovely atmosphere and excellent value for money. Will definitely return!
Sadly, the experience was not as good as before. The service was excellent, but the soup was thin and the fishcake was far too salty. However, the ambience was as good as ever I'm happy to say.
The food was great & the service excellent. Only thing I would change is that my friend’s vegan menu cost £3 more than my non vegan one, seems unfair!
Food and service fabulous as always! Great value for money with their lunchtime special- two courses for £9.95 and 3 courses for £13.95 and the food is amazing!
Had a lovely pre theatre meal. There was 3 of us each had a different meal and everyone was very happy with theirs . Service was excellent 😀
