We had a very nice dinner here. It isn’t the most authentic German experience in London but the ambience is nice (despite us being in an empty restaurant at 7:30 on a Saturday) and the food is good enough. It is probably a good spot to eat before going to the Royal Albert Hall. We would return.

It is a contemporary modern restaurant and looks very clean and fresh. The food was very good and I liked that we could have sharing platters. A great place to eat when seeing a concert at the Albert Hall.

Nice decor, nice food, service appalling. Had to ask for drinks throughout. Absolutely no waiter presence at all. No hint of a maitre d’ or somebody in charge. Food ordered wasn’t correct but ate anyway as going to theatre. Side orders not delivered but still charged for. Even though we didn’t complain it was pretty obvious from the beginning we had terrible service and there was no acknowledgement of this. Very disappointing as we had high hopes.

Had my birthday dinner there and it was amazing. Food is just delicious and the staff are so sweet and thoughtful. It has a very high quality informal feel to it, but premium at the same time. I love Stein's in Kingston upon Thames, but this is really special - will be back very shortly for sure.........

The food and the ambiance were great but the service was very slow overall. It took them 30 minutes to take our order, and another 20 to get us the bill. After that, when we were calculating the split the waitress left and didn't come back for another half an hour.

Unsure if this was because I was using a tastecard or is the usual level of service but it left much to be desired. We were seated on the worst table in the place despite it being empty. Unsure if ordering at the bar is the way you're meant to do it (if it is we weren't told) but no-one came to speak to us once so I had to go up and order. I ordered and then after 5 minutes was told neither of the items I wanted were available. I ordered differently but was sadly a little disappointed with my main. The meatloaf however was nice, as was the strudel. No-one provided us with a menu to choose dessert, luckily we had looked earlier. No-one gave us the bill. I had to go to the bar for any bit of service I required. I am extremely disappointed and will not be returning.

The starter of Swaben cheese and warm pretzel was really good, but the mains were just average. My main was basically like macaroni cheese - fine but boring and not in any way different or exciting. Staff were lovely. Overall, simply mediocre - shame, but true.

Nice restaurant, within a short walk of my hotel. Easy reservations via web site. Our table was waiting for us. The meal was tasty, the portions typically German were large. The sever seemed dismayed that I barely made a dent in my plate. I assured her several times that the meal was delicious (it was). Like a typical restaurant In Germany we needed to ask for the bill (when you haven’t been to Europe in a while, you forget the little differences. The restaurant was clean, had a modern vibe, with current music, lots of bass. This is a good non kitschy German restaurant.

Super service, food was delicious and we also had the Kaiserschmarren to share for afters. Was lecker 😋 This was our second visit to Kensington Stein’s and won’t be our last. We go often to Richmond and Kingston Stein’s too which are also very good.

Food very good But very disappointed that menu reduced due to no chef available. Had been looking forward to proper German Eisbein . Only simple sausage meal available. For next time please inform on issue like that up front

Delicious food - and weissbeer. (Took a bit too long to arrive.) Very good service and value for money. A bit noisy but we managed to get a quiet-ish table. Excellent glass of riesling as well.

The Schnitzel could have had more flavour. The seating area to the right has less than ideal eye contact with the waiting staff.

Pleasant appearance and good food. The person greeting us was off hand which didn't start the meal on a good footing. After that the service was slow and we had to abandon waiting for our dessert.

We decided to try dining here as it’s very close to the Albert Hall where we were going to a BBC proms concert at 7pm. Arrived at 5 pm & the restaurant was quite quiet. We expected to dine without any issue and leave in time to get our seats. Drinks delivery was slow. We ordered from the pre-theatre fixed price menu. Eventually we got our dessert & managed to pay the bill at 6.50 pm after much hassling of the waiter. In recognition of the poor service, he offered to delete the standard service charge. I would not recommend this venue for anyone time pressed for a concert, etc
