The Ashville

Food was ok but rather expensive compared to the value and quality available close by. We wondered if it might be the usual chefs night off as it didn't live up to other reviews. I won't be returning, sorry.

The place seems to attract rowdy, noisy people who don't care about their fellow diners. Service was extremely slow. Advertised and paid for "triple cooked chips" but ended up with barely cooked French fries style chips. This made the dish overpriced. Would have been happy to have paid the advertised price for triple cooked chips. Mushy peas were a miniscule amount of crushed up garden peas with mint and not mushy peas. On the plus side, decent beer selection and friendly staff who refunded one of the mains due to the slow service.

Great burgers and kids menu. The steaks looked fantastic too, so will have to try one next time we visit. Great service too! Thank you

I always have a great experience at this restaurant. The food is divine and the service is welcoming and friendly. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

This was our second visit to the Ashville and I have to say it was even better this time, the steaks are cooked to perfection and the chips and pepper sauce are delicious! We will be back soon.

This is a hidden gem! Tucked a moments stroll from North Street; great value, great food and a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere every time! Restaurant standard food at Pub food prices.

Spent £200 they needed seats so threw us out, wont be back ever, you cannot charge these amounts and treat grown ups like children think its changed hands it used to be more relaxing and cosy, not freezing cold o degrees outside and radiators cold ;^( Janet Taylor, Bristol and Spain

Excellent food -service slightly slower than I would have liked. Although in their defence they had a large group in. Very relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff.

The food and service was very good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Would recommend the Asheville to anyone. Looking forward to our next visit.

Outstanding food & excellent service. Could not fault it on anything. Will definitely go again and can not wait until my next visit. Staff couldn’t do enough for us & even made our own cocktail 15/10

Over priced for what was basically just pub food. Rushed through the meal and made to feel uncomfortable. No wine list available! Disappointed with the service

Great food great service lovely atmosphere best in the area for steak .Convenient location and easy to park . Only negative is that you have to book well in advance !

Brilliant food and great prices. Staff were very friendly and overall the experience was pleasant I would highly recommend this restaurant. The only bad point was someone was doing the steak eating challenge while we were there. This meant there were a lot of people shouting and cheering throughout and this ruined the quiet romantic meal that we had planned. Maybe they should warm people of when this would be happening.

Two courses for £10. What a deal. Partner had white bait to start. I decided I was going to have a dessert rather than a starter, I ordered fish and chips partner ordered burger. We were asked if we would prefer triple cooked chips, £1 extra, or fries. We both opted for triple cooked chips. Now I know it was a cheap lunch but, there was only a small portion of everything on my plate. The chips tasted as if they had been quadruple cooked. The small ones had no potato left in them. Partner said his was ok but felt the same on the chips. When the plates were collected we were not asked how the meal was and we're not offered the dessert menu at all! Consequentially I can not say how the dessert was. We will not be going back for lunch.

Thoroughly enjoyed the food. Both of our steaks were cooked exactly to our requests. The service as I like it unobtrusive but always available. Will visit again.

The steak was incredible!! One of the best iv had! Great service and a lovely atmosphere. Can’t recomend it enough!! Will deffo be back :)

Most importantly the food was delicious!!! Felt the atmosphere was cheapened by the fairy light and laminated menus. Maybe a drinks menu on the table would be good. Otherwise lovely and would return.

Every thing was good service explanation of menu we were well looked after The meals came and both were very enjoyable but both the duck and cote were over cooked but did not mention it as the manager was aware

Great food. Good atmosphere. Must book in advance to avoid disappointment. The 32 oz steak looked incredible. Burger was very good. Been3 times previously. Same lovely staff.

The starters were great I had whitebait & my partner had deep fried Brie. We both had steak which was cooked to perfection & the triple cooked chips were amazing. We'll definitely be going again.

The food was great but service not so hot. Took a long time for food to arrive, one order was wrong, had to ask twice for condiments and had to go and ask for desert menu. Overcharged on the bill then on rectifying the bill still overcharged. Food really was lovely though.

It was nice. Lovely decoration. Steak was over cooked but straight away they changed it and the flavour of the steak was delicious. The summer fruits Eton mess was lovely.

Easy online booking. Think booking is a must. We went on a Thursday eve. Excellent service and food. Would definitely recommend. Look forward to returning.

My wife and I went for our wedding anniversary and food was very nice. Atmosphere also very nice and we will Definitely go again. Reasonably priced.

The restaurant was clean and inviting, we both had the steaks and they were cook to perfection. So good beer and food shame the Rugby wasn't upto the same standard, will be back.

We had a lovely pre-theatre meal at the Asheville. Wait staff/bar staff were very nice and friendly. Seems to be popular as all the tables were booked so booking is perhaps recommended. Food was excellent, would go again.

Perfect food. Perfect service. Will Defoe be returning. This is a little hidden gem. Trouble is if it gets too busy won't be able to get a table so.....will have to make a permanent reservation.
