Went here on a Friday night. I've eaten at the Avalon a couple of times before & its generally good. Tonight though the service was quite slow. Had to call the waiter over to take our order. He did have good knowledge of the menu though. Also, there was a table of around 10 young guys who seemed to be doing shots & were extremely noisy to the point my friend and I couldn't hear ourselves speaking. Had it been my restaurant, I would have asked them to pipe down. In terms of the food, couldn't fault it. Very good for the price. House white is pretty decent too.

Food quality was poor. Would've been unhappy to pay full without tastecard discount. Everything seems to be sent from the kitchen rushed, execution of the dishes is below par.

Food great, service off the boil and inattentive. Needs better link through bar to restaurant, initial seating great then more of an emphasis on turning tables than service occupied ones

Great food. We ordered all the starters. Sunday roast was massive portion. Even for kids. Good service. Lovely secret garden. Thanks to all the staff at the Avalon.

Was able to book a table easily with less then an hour before arrival. The food was excellent as always, and the service was great!

Tried to book by phone a number of times the previous day but no answer. Booked on line which was fine but that did not tell us it was a quiz night on Monday evenings. Food good and service friendly.

The restaurant was perfect for a Sunday afternoon. The roast was delicious (the gravy the highlight) but it was a little tight on the potatoes and vegetables. Lovely all the same

We're fans of the Avalon and dine here quite often, but we're a little dispointed with the food today. The chips and chicken burger both tasted like the oil they fried in was a little old and perhaps needed changing. That said service was great and attentive as always and this won't put us off returning.

Tried out the new bottomless brunch on this visit with a few friends. Chicken pesto burger was amazing and the bubbles were definitely free flowing. Worth a visit

Really great portions with the roast. I had the beef that was really tender and still pink - great!
