Keep away, prosecvo flat, coke flat, some drinks never arrived. Food took over 90 minutes then they got 3 of 4 orders wrong, was offered food and drink free, so left £20 tip for staff who tried hard with no leadership or systems.

Lacked atmosphere, like being in someone’s front room. No fire lit, only 3 tables used. Food was nice though. Friendly staff, nice evening, though struggled with Taxis who kept thinking we were at another location

I had heard the pub was a great place to eat, and seen the reviews more recently that it had been taken over and lot it's edge. Having been I'd agreed. The food was ok, we had Sunday beef dinner, the cauliflower cheese had no sauce more a watery bath, the roast potatoes were good and plenty of them and sensible sized yokshire pubbing though I suspect these were not homemade. The table lay was a little sparse, no mats and odd mix of glasses and the service felt clumsy.

The Bell and Cross is a lovely place, lots of individual rooms with a few tables in each makes for a lovely ambience. Food was excellent, I had the the Pork Belly which was divine all my fellow diners enjoyed their meals too. Two minus points - the service was slow, we were there for two and a half hours and only had 2 courses. And we were overcharged - I have to admit we didn't notice until we got home but it took several phone calls, emails and a visit in person until it got resolved. So my advice is allow plenty of time and check your bill.

Great food, staff friendly, access to gents toilet difficult for people with walking difficulties. However, overall experience good and will certainly return for another special occasion

We booked for 7-45pm on 31 October 2017 and it was confirmed. We arrived to find the restaurant closed! Fortunately we were able to change our plans and go to The Vine in Clent where we had an excellent meal.

Dowdy interior, pokey small rooms, overpriced oily food, definitely not fresh. The room we sat in( on our own) was done out in pink— uuiurgh! Never again!

No beer on tap available. Much shorter menu than on previous visits and sausages not available! Quality of food only average and service slow. All in all disappointing and nothing like as good as in the past.

Food was Devine and melted in your mouth, a good selection of food to chose from, a wine menu would have been nice too to compliment the excellent Service we recieved from our waiter. The restaurant had several areas for dinners and made us feel welcome and relaxed, decorated well and ideal for an up market ambience.

Gone from being highly rated to now very poor. Quality of food was shocking. Such a lovely place and setting but now the building is outdated and needs big improvements. It says something when you walk in and you see the frozen pre done Yorkshire pudding box outside. The food then lived up to this and was dreadful and paying good money for this is a massive kick in the teeth. Such a shame, won't return

Poor service, mediocre food, grubby surroundings. What a shame, it was once such a lovely pub. However we have been offered a free meal so we are giving them a second chance.

Really love this pub but I don’t know what has happened but today’s lunch was poor. There was no Coca Cola to drink!!Service very slow. The food we ordered took 55 minutes to arrived and wasn’t as described on the menu parts missing or too many ingredients my duck salad was nearly all peppers. We didn’t stay for dessert. It really spoiled the birthday celebration. A place I really enjoyed dining in unrecognisable really shocked and saddened have no idea what has happened.

I was surprised what a small menu it was ,I had looked on the web site and the menu had looked good, there was two steaks on offer I did have the ribeye which was very good, however the veg was disappointing with two lots of beetroot and the spinach was very gritty as if it had been grown in sand I did tell them about this and they offered I cheese board which I declined owing to the fact that I had enough to eat by then. The staff were very nice, however I don't think I will go again

New owner and new chef. The menu was very simplified, nothing like the menu shown on the web site. The "New menu" only had 6 simple dishes all of which you could produce at home. No home made truffles with coffee.

We had a lovely Sunday roast on 13 August 2017. The service was good, the food quality was great and the portion large enough to take a doggy bag home. We had read negative reviews, however we have nothing bad to say.

The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly. There were 9 in our party and all enjoyed the meal and the ambience. There was a problem with the gents toilet, so men had to use the ladies, but hopefully this was a short term problem. Service to begin with was a little slow, and we had to ask for tap water several times, but overall it was a pleasant visit, the food was par excellence!

We were seated in the bar area which meant we ended up on our own and felt as if we were an after thought. Food was good but vegetables under cooked.

6 people almost £240.00 bill 1 bt white wine, 1 red wine and a Diet Coke. 5 starters 6 mains and 6 puddings. Price includes 10 percent service charge. Very expensive almost £40 per person. For this I would have expected better service, better quality of food and a more upmarket place.

The food was excellent. comfortable setting. Staff pleasant and attentive. New people in there so they need to work hard to get the standard that it was before but I am sure they are not far off.

Food and friendliness were excellent. Prices reasonable. Staff were over concerned for our comfort snd visited the table too many times- 4 different staff members came to check everything was ok with our meals... in the 15-20 mins that we were eating.

we enjoyed the atmosphere at the restaurant but the food was not as good as I remember from past visits. We felt that the lack of vegetables and was a big fault These are not expensive to purchase and although fiddly to prepare, do make for a well balanced meal. Disappointing

Great food and service and very traditional country pub - only slight disappointment was that they had run out of the special dessert which had come highly recommended from the staff.

Our first visit to the pub/restaurant. We booked an early dinner and had pre dinner drinks in the Bar area which was like a Snug and quickly got speaking with others having a drink. There are 3 cosy dining rooms . We had2 starters smoked salmon and prawns and fried squid with piri piri sauce, very nicely presented and very tasty. Main course was shoulder of lamb and hock and pea pie with a side order of vegetables, both nice meals and again well presented. The staff gave us good service and always checking if we needed anything or checking how things were. We would definitely return. There is a car park to the rear of the pub and a well maintained garden area which could accommodate quite a few people.

Exceptional service which was as sunny as the day outside !!!! Slightly disappointed that there was only a 3 course menu on offer with no lighter bites included... but it was Fathers Day so I shouldn't complain... particularly some they made the Dads the focus of their attention.. which is as it should be!! A fab place and I'll definitely be back to sample their regular menu which sounds creative and delicious!

Very dissappointed as the only fish on the menu was battered cod. Only one other meal i could eat was lasagna and that was extremely salty. My dessert was enjoyable. My husband really enjoyed his meal and gave it full marks. The staff were polite and pleasant. In some areas it was untidy and messy.

Top marks for the food & service, especially as I understand it has changed hands recently. However, it could do with a revamp of the some parts of the pub/restaurant. We had to wait a little while but we were told this when we ordered.

Service was prompt, ambience great too, due to the small rooms with a few tables per room. The shared starter was nice although there weren't many starters that particularly appealed. This was in contrast to the main courses where the wide appeal means we will definitely be making a number of return visits. The main course was well cooked and really enjoyable. Too full to have a dessert, but enjoyed the coffee.

I have been going to this pub literally for decades. The food was always good and the staff friendly and attentive. Unfortunately since 2017, I can only imagine that it's changed ownership because it's difficult to explain how much it's gone downhill. No locals any more, food is now mediocre and service is slow.

The food was good but the service let the experience down - the staff were friendly and we didn't have to wait long but they didn't seek to explain the menu and could have quite easily have unsold us to some of the extras had we know there were no vegetables with 3 of the 5 dishes ordered - the staff need to have a better understanding of the menu and explain this to the customers - the result would be happy customers and increased turnover for the venue!
