The Bowling Green

The Bowling Green has quite a limited menu but food excellent in quality and quantity. Very pleasant surroundings in a new restaurant area separated from the pub. The staff are very pl;easant and chatty when not too busy and are attentive throughout.

As always the food was great and Karen and the team do a sterling job of making you feel very welcome. If you are looking for good honest pub food with a good selection of beers, then this is an ideal place.

Very pleasant Sunday lunch. Good choice of meats and helpful staff. We went on a fairly quiet Sunday and had to wait a little bit as the staff were also looking after the bar but we weren’t in a hurry so no problem.

Good table with attentive staff. Quality of food excellent with good choice with good options for children. Would recommend highly. Will go again for a family occasion.

We visit the Bowling green on a regular basis and the staff are always polite efficient. Karen and Natalie are always welcoming and organised. The food is always good value for the money.

We went for the Thursday Steak night, very tender steak. Great wine. Well kept ale. Best of all, as ever, is the first class service.

Lovely restaurant and meal, we ate at 6pm so restaurant understandably nearly empty. Unfortunately we were placed next to the only other table in use. This made it off putting and difficult to talk as next table had several noisy, lively toddlers at it, would have been very easy to space us a table apart otherwise a pleasant meal.

Really good food and service. Only downside was that it wasn't very warm in the dining room (it was a cold day late April and heating was playing up) but overall I would readily return.

Had a good lunch very friendly staff good price and will go back again. Will reccommend this place to friends and family. All in all a good experience.

As we booked for a later time there wasn’t any roast Sunday launch left. Although this wasn’t a big issue and we selected alternatives from the normal menu. Service and food was great and to the normal standard we have come to experience over the last few months. Will be back again soon

Great for family occasions. Caters for children and adults of all ages. Very pleasant staff with excellent service. Will definitely be going again before long.

Food was lovely and the dining are was nice but the bar needs to be re-done as it looks old and sticky and dirty but all in all a good experience and would go again.

Always brilliant and food always good. So lucky to have such an amazing pub in our town. My friends and I use this place for birthdays and any other celebrations.

Really made us welcome, we went on Boxing Day too as well as today (Easter Sunday) and had great food and really good and friendly staff. Will be back again soon.

Food it's served very fast, it's very delicious, quiet big portions. Staff it's very helpful, make sure you have everything, treats you very nice. A very lovely place to have a dinner

Absolutely delicious food. We had specials of lamb rump and another of pigeon breast. Service was attentive and friendly too. Our second fabulous meal here and we'll definitely be going back!

Food good quality nicely prepared. Ample portions too. Friendly staff. Vegetarian choices limited. Best to sit near window or can be a little dim. Good service.

The dining experience was greatly enhanced by the lovely waitresses who always are very attentive and have time to exchange not only pleasantries but much more!

Lovely local pub with fantastic food! Very relaxed atmosphere. Four of us went and had various burgers and got a free pudding! Fudge cake was delicious!

Excellent service good food and nice surroundings. Sit by the roaring fire and chill out. We walked through the wind and snow and cold cold weather and it was worth the effort.

Great food and friendly service, both the pub and restaurant are cosy and inviting. Favourites are the sausages and mash and the chilli. Good selection of drinks.

Nice food. Good price. Waiters attentive. Midweek lunchtime visit and it was extremely busy. Waitress said they had 11 seats prebooked , but did 70 covers
