Food and service absolutely stunning. Been a few times now and we are never disappointed. Setting is cosy and intimate, food is always superb and the staff are so welcoming. Mine and my partner's new favourite place xx

This was our first visit to Chancel which we found to be a very pleasant evening from start to end. All staff were attentive and the place was busy which gave a nice ambiance. Food was delicious and when we ordered our chosen dishes it was explained that there would be a minimum waiting time on some of the choices which again we thought was good customer service. We will most definitely be going back and enjoying tasting more dishes from the menu in the future.

Our favourite place to eat in Plymouth, never had a bad meal or experience. We love their tapas and steaks. It's a small place but doesn't feel cramped, and has a large selection of wines for those interested.

Superb food! I booked a table at the chancel for 6 food lovers and we all had an amazing meal and great service in a warm and friendly environment. I visited the chancel for the first time about 4 years ago and loved it, still love it today. A real hidden gem. Overall fantastic would highly recommend.

Fantastic food, lovely house wine (very reasonably priced) and super service. We will definitely be back. Wish we’d discovered this great little place sooner. We shared an antipasti starter and then had the delicious duck and the fillet steak valdostana. Faultless.

The standard has been maintained with good service. The menu could do with a change but if it works for the Chancel then fine. The wine list is a real plus.

My husband and I enjoyed our meal and the bistro has a lovely ambiance. Because we used a Groupon we had a limited choice for mains but enjoyed what we had. I think I would have liked more vegetables on my plate and less reliance on chips and mashed potatoes but overall very nice food.

Cosy little bistro that doesn't let itself get over booked, therefore ensuring friendly yet professional service throughout. Food was of a high quality and prices were very competitive compared to other similar sized establishments in Plymouth. I'd definitely recommend this place and will be going back again.

Staff were friendly but the food was overpriced in terms of quality. They served us salad levels which had turned brown and vegetables were overcooked. Raspberry cheesecake had strange texture. Had three dishes and didn't particularly enjoy any of them.

This was our fourth visit to the Chancel, so yes we like it! Every visit has been superb, from the unforced friendly greeting on arrival through to the desert and coffee at the end of our meal. Cheerful service and freshly prepared, extremely well cooked food, what more can you ask for. Visit number five will not be long coming. Wish there were more places as good as this in Plymouth.

Very good meal and service. Only point for improvement, if you serve chips/fries, I would have preferred proper hand cut chips rather than McDonalds type fries. In general really nice place to eat and the service was excellent.

This is a real gem of a restaurant with happy friendly staff, good service and a relaxed environment. The food we had was delicious but with 2 vegetarians in my party it would have been nice for them to have a wider choice of dishes, but what they had they throughly enjoyed. The only minor negative was that the chairs we were sat on were rather hard and uncomfortable so we took cushions from a nearby unoccupied table to pad our seats and happily carried on our meal.

Great atmosphere. Friendly, helpful staff. Main courses were delicious. Felt a little let down by the puddings which were good but not WOW like the main course. The toilets were "rustic".

The food was outstanding but had to wait 25 mins to see food menu cause there was a shortage of menus! Then was told we made the waitress cry cause we complained and pointed at her, I don’t think we were aggressive if anyway and if we were told about the 25 minute wait to see the menu when we came in it wouldn’t have been an issue

Diverse menu, something for everyone. Great fish options. Fab wines. Relaxed friendly atmosphere. We sat downstairs so 'specials' were reeled off verbally by the waiter rather than being available to view and ponder. I found it hard to keep up with the choices that way. However so much on the standard menu to choose from anyway hard to complain. Everyone in our party enjoyed all of their courses. Would definitely return. Good choice of ales as well as wines. Great evening.

The restaurant hadn't got our Quandoo booking down in their paper diary. The food and service was very good and a good selection of GF food and other dietary requirements. We were a little unsettled by the incorrect bill on the night which nearly cost us an extra £120. We hope and believe it was a genuine error

Superb menu, perfectly cooked. Very friendly but professional staff. My in-laws said it was the best meal they have ever eaten and they were celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniversary.
