We like to go once a month and never disappointed. Amazing tasting food and top service again. Thankyou.
Lovely food and really helpful staff. Definitely going on my list to return to
first visit and definitely will come again when in Plymouth. The foos was excellent and the staff most accommodating.
Excellent food, ambience, wine, service and centrality for The Theatre Royal (our destination at 19:30). The Chancel was able to accommodate our early dining requirement, whereas competing restaurants wouldn’t! Thanks The Chancel for a fabulous dinner and start to the weekend!
Always great food and great staff, first place I go to for eating out!
The service was slow but friendly but the food was only average
food excellent along with the service and attention to detail. no problems at all and would return in the future
It was very busy/noisy owing to the fact they had a function on. We were stuck in a corner, chairs were uncomfortable. Service was very good. Food was fine.
Food was amazing, they were brilliant in accommodated us regarding food allergies and intolerances. Staff were very approachable. Overall an excellent experience.
Delicious food and efficient friendly service. We will come again!
Great food and the staff were wonderful. Lovely cosy friendly place to eat and celebrate all occasions. Would definitely recommend eating here. 😃
Excellent food , excellent staff , we both really enjoyed it
Always a pleasure to eat here, good atmosphere and friendly staff, chips to die for.
Lovely tapas & so impressed with the menu choice we booked for a special dinner in September
We had a great evening with friends. The chancel is very a relaxed atmosphere, with friendly staff and great food. We’ll be back! 😁
Lovely meal and good service. Thank you. We will be back.!
Food was very good as was the service.A little disappointed that they had a small selection of beer , all bottled. But that should not detract from a very enjoyable experience.
Have been to the chancel a few times and I am never disappointed! Great food, lovely atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff.
Fantastic service, only problem is that we ordered a bottle of shiraz at around £18 which you didn't have so we were offered a different bottle but not told the price which we found out at the end of the meal cost around £23. We thought if you didn't have the bottle we ordered, it would be the same price of the bottle that we originally ordered.
We enjoyed a lovely beetroot and feta salad as part of our three course pre theatre supper. Tried the recommended red wine a Tempranillo I think. Attentive and friendly staff. Love it.
Fantastic food, lovely atmosphere and amazing service. Can’t wait to go back! Thanks Jamie and Paula!
Good value for money. Friendly service. Great GF choice on menu.
Simply outstanding as always. There is nowhere better in Plymouth!
Lovely post theatre meal for 8 . staff were brilliant, a varied menu which was delicious. Thank you
It was a really nice tapas lunch thank you very much!
I booked the table in advance. As soon as we arrived we were approached for our order & twice more within a short time although to be fair we did say come back in 10 minutes - but we hadn't seen each other for 3 years so hadn't looked at the menu so the repeat trips to take the order wasn't conducive to a relaxed atmosphere. Then we asked twice for a jug of tap water but on each occasion were only given a glass full each. Also we had to ask for a cooler for the remainder of the carafe of wine we ordered, which should have been provided. Then a cooler was bought up with the remnants of melted ice cubes in which was disappointing. I ordered the pear, walnut & blue cheese salad - but there were no walnuts in it with no explanation given! Then a large pretty noisy group arrived & were sitting opposite us on a long table. This was still relatively early at 6 p.m so we decided to leave & have coffees elsewhere. Overall not a great experience.
We love the Chancel. It never fails to deliver on service and food. The wine is pretty good too! Probably our favourite restaurant in Plymouth. Everyone in our party had a clean plate for every course (and we all had 3 ) and then had coffee and brandy after.
Had a bottle of wine outside in the sun. Menu was good and service friendly and efficient. Pre-theatre menu very good and food excellent. Really good food experience.
Good setting, friendly service and fab food! (At reasonable price)
Have been to the Chancel many times. Excellent food, service, atmosphere. The staff are great, nothing is too much trouble. If you have never been, you should, you will not be disappointed.
Lovely food, good portion size. Individual tables just a little too small so a bit short on table space. Service good and speed of service good pace.
A cosy restaurant in a convenient location. Homely and unpretentious, I will certainly be returning .
Brilliant food and service as always. Personal service, very attentive.
Really great food and even better service! Thank you for your hospitality.
Have called in many times for a glass of wine, never eaten there before. Amazing!, the quality of food was superb, the staff excellent! All in all an excellent evening celebrating my partners birthday!
The BEST steak ever. The food was to die for and fantastic service. What a gem of a place.
Very nice meal as usual, one of the best in Plymouth
Very friendly staff excellent food great experience all round. Will return when next in Plymouth x
AN ALL ROUND GREAT LUNCH, GOOD FOOD, GOOD SERVICE. WILL CERTAINLY GO THERE AGAIN
We went as a party of three before a film at 6:00pm. As always, the service was attentive and efficient. I had my favourite, the fish stew, delicious. My husband had the smoked beef goulash which he said was delicious. Our daughter had seafood pasta, which she was also delighted with. The puddings we had were amazing, chocolate pannacotta. A lovely experience.
