The service was brilliant, a lovely fire to warm up next to on arrival. The gourmet burger was the nicest I have tried. Will be visiting again

The food was stunning and time between courses was short and prompt. Staff were very welcoming and we had great service all night, would recommend to anyone.

Once again a very nice evening meal, staff were pleasant and helpful, beer was good and the Chocolate Orange cocktail splendid. Not very busy but we were early diners.

Excellent service and food. Enjoyed our meal very much. Nothing to complaint about at all. We were expecting it to be more pricey but it reasonable.

Unfortunately food was cold for the main meal.I feel the meal was not value for money for a Sunday roast.Very disappointing experience,a real shame as the portion size was also very meagre.

We come to the Chequers fairly regularly for work lunches because we know we can guarantee a great meal. The staff are attentive, menu choices great (with some lovely vegetarian options), the food is always delicious, in a lovely dining environment - thank you.

It was our first time dining here and overall we had a really good meal and would definitely visit again. The food was tasty with attention to detail and flavour but it seemed like instead of pasta in the cannelloni they used short crust pastry which, although enjoyable, wasn't quite as good as I think pasta would have been and not what I expected. Apart from that very minor detail we had a very enjoyable time and can see why it was recommended to us by quite a few different people.

Our first visit but we were disappointed as there was no warm welcome on arrival, the food was average and we expected better based on the reputation of this Inn. On a positive note it is quaint and old.

Lovely surroundings and the service was friendly and at a nice pace. Lots of varied choices on menu and the food we chose was served in nice portion sizes and was very tasty.

An excellent Sunday lunch with a really nice bottle of wine. Very busy and a good atmosphere. We will be back in the near future.

What an absolute gem! Lovely atmosphere with a real fire in the main bar. Meal was delicious followed by a night in the loft room bed so comfortable. One of the best breakfasts ever. Will definitely back

good food and beer, although the vegetarian meal deal portion was small, more like a starter! We always go for the meal deal and find the meal deal portions in general have reduced over the past 9 months, come on how much does a few more chips cost?

Good food and good price. They offer a £7 menu between 6pm-7pm which suits the early bird eaters well. Always a pleasure going there to eat

Food was absolutely fabulous, friendly staff and even though they had a wedding on site, the service was very good. Only the second time I’ve been and both times it’s been faultless, will be going again soon :D

Our meal was booked for early evening and we were the first table to be seated in our area and yet it took 45 minutes before anyone took our order (despite prompting) and another 45 for it to arrive, the food is good but not good enough for a 90 minute wait.

Excellent food and drink. Service also excellent and a great atmosphere throughout the whole premises. Beer choice was particularly good and varied with quality brands

Excellent meal, lovely venue, only minor disappointment was that the crackling for the pork belly was a crisp and not authentic, but other than that, delicious food.

This was our first meal out child free since our son was born and we really enjoyed it! Lovely location, food and service was spot on and we’ll definitely go back.

Amazing food, great service. A lovely homely feel and the food is so diverse and exquisite. I have been back 3 times already and each time taken friends, family and my partner! I will no doubt be going back again

Good Food, Good Service. We were a group of three, some ordering starters some not, all the food arrived in good time and the staff were attentive but not intrusive.
