Great food, lovely atmosphere, helpful and friendly staff. Quite an intimate quiet setting nothing loud but still extremely enjoyable. Would definitely recommend and go again

We had Sunday lunch. Very friendly staff, prompt service and great food. We have had a meal there before and will definitely be going again.

Staff friendly, food was great, atmosphere was lovely overall a great experience. The only thing I would say is last time I went we had bottomless Prosecco and they would top up your glass even if you had taken a sip, this time our glasses were empty on a fair few occasions but didn’t take away from the experience.

Lovely atmosphere and interesting locally sourced menu. My main dish was very salty but the venison was beautifully cooked. Friendly service and good selection of wines. Would definitely recommend!

Poor lay out of tables , no heating , food was average , staff were good , overall over priced for what it was .

I went for lunch and had stater of chicken liver parfait, main of fillet steak and dessert of apple Eaton mess. Nice portion sizes very good ambiance.

Great little restaurant tucked away in the back streets of Braintree, friendly staff and excellent food. Tried the mid-week special menu, would recommend not leaving it too late to dine as they do run out of dishes. However, still enough choice, probably the best sausage and mash I've ever had.

This was our first time dinning at the Chophouse, we found the staff good and the food was very good, and at a very fair price.

Excellent service, excellent food as always! Downside? Received a parking fine...didn't appreciate restaurant spaces only applied in the evening 😠 However, won't stop me coming again.

I had high hopes for The Chophouse! Unfortunately, it didn't live up to them. The staff were friendly and helpful but the service was mostly slow throughout the evening. Our main courses were brought to us after a long wait and not all together so we had to wait for one of the meals (steak) to arrive while those that had arrived were getting cold. When the steak arrived, it came without a steak knife so again had to wait for a waiter to pass so that we could request one. The two lamb dishes ordered were supposed to come with "beef fat potatoes" which to me and everyone else at the table meant roast potatoes. Instead they were boiled and crushed and mixed with what appeared to be mushroom - I do not eat mushrooms and so left all of the potatoes. The lamb was ok, not great, part of it was mushy!!?! There was also a sauce with the lamb which appeared to have cheese in it - again, not what was on the menu. I ended up leaving most of the meal and thought I'd be asked how it was when the waiter came to collect plates but instead was given a sheepish look as the plates were collected. I should have said then it was disappointing and not what was stated on the menu. Desserts were ok as were the starters - albeit over-priced. The meal came to approx £180 for three of us which I'd not have minded paying if the food and service was better. We heard two other patrons at separate tables complaining about food and service also. Shame to say I won't be visiting here again.

Food was amazing. Very good waiting staff. Really enjoyable birthday treat. Ate off the A La Carte menu, plenty of choice. Ser menu looked good too

Great food on their set menu. Well worth the money. Their Long Island iced tea is one of the best. Great all round, service was very good.

Excellent ‘Sunday Roast’ with the nice twist of a trio of meats served on the board with a supporting cast of vegtables, both traditional and unusual....highly recommended!

Breakfast Brunch.... wow it was lurvly jubbly....one of the party had the vegetarian option which was also very nice. We will be back very soon !!!

Had the Sunday lunch. It was very nice, plenty to eat and well presented. The staff were very attentive. The decor and furnishings are lovely. I would highly recommend going here.

A little gem for Braintree town centre. There are no restaurants in this category in the town centre. Intimate and friendly with an inspirational menu a notch above the norm

we have been to the chop house on several occasions and are never let down this is the first time we have been for sunday lunch my recommendation would be dont eat for a week or so before visiting as you will definitely not go home hungry The food once again first class with excellent waitress service. Not much more to be said really

A little gem we loved it. We went there for lunch to celebrate a friends 60th and its an ideal place . Its a little bit special. A big thank you to everyone involved.

Another excellent meal as always....however, background music just a little loud on this occasion making conversation a bit difficult at times....but I'll be back again soon!

Always have a fantastic time, food as always was amazing. Great bunch of staff. Was my birthday yesterday and my daughters had phoned up to order champagne for me, the staff made me feel special.

Every course excellent , service very friendly and professional. Catered for a specific ingredient allergy, by preparing an adapted accompanying vegetable dish without the specific ingredient - exceeded our expectations there . Will return there ASAP , a lovely evening : thank you .

Always exceptional service and food when visiting the chophouse, the menu changes every month I think so there is always something new to try. They accommodate for everyone and served me a meal that wasn’t on the menu once. The manager even gave our party of 6 all a free drink on the house at the end, honestly cannot recommend enough!

Very friendly staff and a very charismatic building, food was amazing. Good prices and would highly recommend I will definitely be going back very soon
