Always a pleasure eating here, it doesn’t get any better in this area

The chophouse was really great last night. Great food, great cocktails, great wine and mostly a great atmosphere. If you want a special night this is the place to go. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Lovely cosy ambience , really excellent food and very generous portions very friendly helpful staff .I had the calamari to start and my wife had roast tomato soup —- both excellent . I had the vegetarian spanakopita —- never had it before but it was absolutely beautiful and my wife loved the Chophouse sausage.

Food good A sauce with the steak would have been good, some chips very hard. Not a lot of space around table a bit to close for privacy.

Fantastic meal with exceptional service! A great find locally, that gives you something different, traditional food with a quirky twist. The passion that goes into the menu is clear to see!!

What an excellent meal. The food lovely. We had the mackerel and risotto to start and the lamb and rib of beef for main. The service was exceptional!

Awesome food from local sources. Great restaurant and ambience. Eaten here many times and have never had a bad meal. Highly recommend. The owner Rob and his staff cannot do enough for you.

Excellent as always, a little gem in Braintree. The food is top notch and the drinks selection is amazing. We go back regularly and are never disappointed.

Nice food , decent service but does not justify the cost. Have eaten elsewhere for far less money. Probably won’t recommend. Have been before and had more for less.

Sunday Lunch for 5, a lovely meal and good friendly service. Our first visit, but we were impressed, so will be returning. Highly recommend.Good value set menu, food all hot and hot plates, too...great quality.

The restaurant was over priced and the for the food you received!they didn’t check the notes I added for booking so I had to ask for the gluten and dairy menu and as it was for my husbands birthday there was nothing special brought out as we have experienced in other restaurants!they had run out of the gin I wanted so overall we wouldn’t be revisiting or recommending!parking isn’t great either!

Really enjoyed eating at the Chophouse. The food, service and ambience was brilliant. Also, the 3 courses for £20 on a Tuesday is such great value and the menu is perfect if you want a homely and hearty meal with reasonable portion sizes. Loved the sausage and mash!

We go to the chophouse regularly on a Sunday there is always Great food and exceptional service. All the staff make an effort to make you feel welcome wether it is your first time there or not. Family friendly great atmosphere

Nice atmosphere and the staff were very attentive. We had a lovely evening but the food was far too expensive, not much of it and not that good.

Fantastic brunch. All house made products and delicious. chophouse breakfast certainly delivers value for money, very full tummie and good choice for children too. Lovely service.

Fantastic food and service , from start to finish beef that melts in your mouth .roast potatoes crispy crispy crispy ,cheese sauce) try it all you will not be having a normal roast dinner again .no compromise it comes at a bigger price but so worth it ,

This was our first visit and definitely won't be our last. We went for our wedding anniversary and had a lovely meal. The staff were all very polite and attentive but not overly so. The food was really good, well cooked, well presented and tasty. We had 3 courses from the set menu and had thought as it was such a reasonable price that maybe portions were small but we both left feeling we had eaten plenty. We are planning to go again soon with a group from work.

Good restaurant, attentive and friendly staff. The choice of food on the menu and specials board is varied. When the main courses were served, mine was fine, but my wife's food was burnt and dry where it had probably been left under the hot lamp. Next the Banana tarte tatin was not caramelised . We didn't complain at the time and it would not stop us going back again.

The food was delicious and so generously portioned I cannot fault anything about my meal. The servers were friendly without being overbearing. A lovely meal in a charming little restaurant.

We had a delicious meal and lovely wine. Service was great, attentive and polite. There was a lovely calm and warm atmosphere. We sat for a while after the meal and felt very relaxed and comfortable just finishing our drinks and chatting. We would definitely recommend and will be returning again soon.

Staff lovely. Very busy.45 mins before ordered food. Duck tough sent back replaced quickly. Lamb needed sauce. More variety of veg needed. Hope better Saturday?

Went there with my fiancee after having the Chophouse recommended. We ate off the set evening menu. Excellent food and lovely friendly service. Not cheap but totally value for money. A delightful evening

The chophouse has quickly become one of our favourite places to eat . Mixing great service and food makes it easy to keep going back . Special mention to all food being cooked from fresh meaning all our allergies where easily catered for .

Like place & staff but found it a bit expensive have had meals for less in London but will go again to see if there is improvement in the pricing.
