One of our regular favourites in the City: genuine South Carolina cuisine, with high quality cooking, carefully chosen wines and friendly service. The gumbo in particular is the best I've had anywhere.

Food was really good and plentiful. We were late lunch diners but felt the service could have been quicker. The waitress was very helpful describing the food and drinks and any questions we had. Hard to gage the ambience as we were the only diners. I think we would try it again as food was very tasty

A lovely date spot tucked away. Wasn't sure what to expect but it was a lovely evening. Lovely option for set menu to try everything. Overall a great environment, service and food would definitely recommend!

If you like delicious flavoured food, hot sauce and the best Oreo cheesecake you’ve ever tasted....I’d recommend you go here! Been twice now & absolutely love it!

Food great. Brisket, mac n cheese and sautéed broccoli were delicious, as was the Oreo cheesecake. Service was inattentive and slow. Desserts took too long and I spent 10 minutes trying to attract waiters’ attention to request the bill. Service is included in the bill but when the credit card machine arrives, they sneakily ask if you want to add service again. Who still does this trick?! Poor form.

Great service and hearty food - go when you’re hungry! The chicken sandwich was tasty, the gumbo a bit too spicey, the corn bread delicious. The ambience was great and an all round good experience

Fantastic meal again at the fat bear and great service. The vegan gumbo was delicious and finished off with the cornflake ice cream from ice cream union - excellent.

Always good food and excellent service - great for business lunches too as it is fairly quiet inside. The gumbo never disappoints and the cheesecake was awesome.

Lovely intimate dining room style restaurant, food was a real taste of home for my New Orleans born husband. Highly recommend the cornbread, spinach dip and gumbo!

Little gem hidden away in the city. Amazing atmosphere, and you can tell the food is made by someone who knows their soul food. Gumbo & Buffalo wings were both spot on, and the cornbread is baked to order, which was delicious. Chicken & Waffles was great, ask for some butter on the side to make it even better.

We had a really great time at Fat Bear last night. I didn’t like my cocktail so the waitress took it back and made another with what I liked which is great service. The food was really good too! Some of us had the set menu which was really generous for the price. Oreo cheesecake to die for (if you have room for dessert). Chicken wings and tenders were good. Fried chicken and waffles were recommended as well as the fried chicken sandwich. All in all a great experience and we will be back! Really impressed with the service too; attentive and accommodating without being too in your face.

Really enjoyable meal. Authentic US grub freshly made and served. The family menu for 3+ groups is fantastic value, you certainly won't go home feeling hungry. The cocktails also have that authentic feel and the list draws you in to want to try a few of them. I would say they looked a bit small when they arrived but they tasted great and packed a punch. My only complaints would be the room and the table/chairs. If you hadn't booked and were passing by and looked in, you'd probably keep walking. The table and chairs are too small (especially given the great spread of food you get) and not particularly comfortable. Overall great evening and definitely return again soon.

Excellent service and food. Have visited the Fat Bear twice and each time the food has been top notch. The food is fresh and the corn bread once again was outstanding. Will definitely return.

Mediocre food at quite ridiculous prices. Was expecting so much more for what we spent. Deep fried chicken was OK, but waffles were dry and tasteless. Macaroni cheese tasted bizarre and nothing like macaroni cheese. Gumbo - again, average to poor. Portion sizes were also small. The coke was either flat or the completely disproportionate amount of ice in each glass made it taste flat. Oh and the service was terrible too.

Me and my partner reserved a table. They ran out of rice so we couldn’t order half the main dishes. Don’t book past 8 pm.

The Fat Bear is a lovely little restaurant. The American food was great and the portions were big! The service is excellent, we got there 5 minutes before it opened and they still seated us and started serving us straight away. Will definitely go back!

Beautiful small restaurant tucked away in the back streets of London! Great service and food! Shout out to all independent restaurants like this! Nice to enjoy something different rather than chain places. Well done to all at The Fat Bear!!!

We booked this place for 6pm and they had a power cut just before. The Manager sent a text & left a voicemail so we hung around for 15 mind & power was restored. Just as well we did - so worth it amazing food & wine

This was my first visit to The Fat Bear in London and I'm looking forward to returning. Everything about the meal was great, the food, the service, the ambience, the staff, but particularly the food. The Cajun seafood Jambalaya is definitely recommended.

This restaurant has a great atmosphere. The food is delicious and well priced for the portions. Unfortunately the delay in receiving our food is why I've ranked The Fat Bear lower than a 5/6. We were the first table to arrive at a weekday lunch and the first to order. Although I do respect that the dining room was fully booked that day, there were only 7 other tables and between two service people I would have expected better care. It took 2+ hours to get our food. So long that one of our guests had to go back to work. With this location in the city, they should be more accommodating to those who work and understand food needs to arrive quickly.

A relaxed vibe and an attentive, personable level of service provided. Not an extensive menu (thankfully) but still a great range of dishes, would recommend the chicken burger (buffalo style of course).
