We very much enjoyed our evening at The Fig Tree. Food was excellent and would recommend it. Service was prompt and the three different main courses arrived without a long wait.
Lovely food and ambiance, will definitely be taking more friends there. Our view of the sea was amazing and there were even hardy people sitting outside.
Excellent food and service, highly recommended! Lovely location and staff. Took friends for Sunday lunch, efficient service. Great choice of food and drink. Will definitely return.
Food was fantasic , the staff were amazing excellent dining experience ! Location was fabulous. Would highly recommend the fig tree restaurant in Penarth for a fabulous dining experience
Excellent service, great food and a lovely view over the estuary. Couldn't fault our Sunday lunch at the Fig Tree. Would highly recommend eating here.
Great food with a lovely view. It was quiet when we arrived so had the place to ourselves. The candles and art on the walls made it cosy.
Great service and setting, decent food. We went for Sunday lunch. Generous portions, but could do with a bit more flavour - especially in the gravy!
Excellent food and service and lovely surroundings. Each course was very well presented and very tasty. Waiting staff friendly and helpful and astmoshere very good.
Beautiful restaurant on the promenade at Penarth. Delicious food served by delightful staff. This restaurant never disappoints us and always book it whenever we are staying in Cardiff. I had lovely Gower Mussels to start followed by pan fried Hake served with summer vegetables. My husband had the Pork Belly and my daughter and partner had shoulder of Welsh Lamb, all meals enjoyed by all. Highly recommend this little gem.
The restaurant was very nice, the view across the water in particular. The starters (shellfish) and fish dishes were very good. The vegetarian dish that we had (gnocchi) was disappointing however. The gnocchi was over cooked, the pinenuts were burnt and the dish was very dry. For £13, it seemed overpriced
Nice food and location - has not disappointed before. Had an enjoyable Sunday lunch looking over Penarth pier and the Bristol Channel. Reasonable price for the dinner
Went went for Sunday lunch, the starters were lovely, however the Sunday lunch just was ok, as their was rather bland with no real flavour to the lamb or vegetables. Left feel a little disappointed as had been waiting to try the Sunday lunch there for a while.
It was really nice sitting on the shaded veranda for Sunday lunch. The food was good and the staff were friendly although we had to ask three times for our bill and ended up going inside and paying there instead.
Beautiful seafront location with lovely views over the sea. Mouth watering food and the service was excellent. Would highly recommend this place for any occasion.
We had lunch on the balcony at the Fig Tree as it was a sunny day and we enjoyed the view as well as the food, which was excellent with generous portions. The service was great too. Good value.
An excellent evening. The location is fantastic, service was great and probably the best muscles I’ve ever eaten. I would highly recommend this place to everyone
Great food great ambiance absolutely amazing location We had a fantastic meal the stafff were amazing and the diners next door gave us a lift back to the hotel 10 / 10 xx
No mayonnaise available. Starter was a bit small and uninspiring to look at (melon & feta) although tasted delicious. Frozen (or tinned) strawberries on the lemon posset dessert let that down but again, the posset was delicious. Great service, lovely location, needs a bit of finesse on plating.
Absolutely lovely lunch staff were very friendly and service was excellent! Will certainly be returning. The lunch menu had plenty to choose from and gluten free options which is fantastic as I am coeliac.
Usually a really high standard, but not quite up there on this visit. Menu not quite as varied, and service slightly reduced but that could be explained by the festival taking part outside.
My daughter had mussels in white wine which she enjoyed,But I had the steak ask for medium cook it came well done the mushrooms on my plate was cold aswell as the tomatoes, and most of the thick cut chips were not cooked through they were hard and not very Pleasant to eat.
The food was really good, but the service was poor. There were long waits at all the stages: for our initial drinks, for the menu, to give our order, for our food to arrive. We then waited at least 10 minutes for our plates to be cleared. The thought of waiting any longer by having deserts was too much and even so we waited for the bill and yet again to pay. We were told that there was a new chef and that they were understaffed that evening, but even so.... I did leave a tip, because I always feel for the waiting staff.
Excellent food, beautiful views and superb service - what more could you ask for? I would highly recommend this lovely restaurant on the Penarth seafront.
3/4 of us had really good mains & wine but only spoilt by my sons steak which he said was over cooked ( wanted rare) but tasteless anyway
Excellent restaurant with great views over the sea. Food was superb, as was the service. Our group all had fish dishes which were particularly good. Not cheap but worth every penny.
We had a lovely meal on the veranda, very good service and good quality fish dishes. Waitress was efficient, laid back and not too fussy. Exactly what we needed. Would recommend. Graeme
We were sat in the outdoor seating eating our main courses, a teenager urinated behind a wooden partition next to the public toilets, absolutely disgusted.
The service was very good. Starter - pea and broccoli soup - delicious Main - beef and Yorkshire roast dinner - tasty Dessert - chocolate pave with pistachio ice cream The food was very well presented and tasted good. Would definitely go there again.
Fabulous in every way. Staff were fantastic. Food absolutely gorgeous. Location and setting superb. We loved the view. Truly great place. Best lunch ever. Can’t wait to come again.
excellent food, good menu choice, very good service location is superb out look is out standing will visit again in the near future highly recommended
Good service- Good food, with a broad and varied menu - Wine list is well-priced and comprehensive A most pleasant place for lunch with views acros the Bristol Channel
Gorgeous setting, lovely food, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere! Our fave Restaurant!😁 we usually come mid week evenings but Sunday menu equally lovely! Twists on roasts, gorgeous desserts.
Very pleasant restaurant excellent food reasonably priced service was very good the weather was good so we were able to sit outside will definitely go again
Excellent food and great experience. Friendly staff. Recommend the Lamb. Great wine list. We both had a very nice evening at the Fig Tree in Penarth.
Attractive place on seafront with road dividing restaurant and promenade. Great views for both outside, and I imagine - inside. Request table on veranda if you reckon weather will be good! Accommodating in my daughter's vegetarian request. Good service with a smile.
Poor service to begin with - others were seated before us and we didn’t get any sort of welcome although we booked. We waited about 10mins to be seated with still no decent communication but after that all much better - good food and good value.
Always an enjoyable experience eating here. Proprietor Mike Caplan is very welcoming, and restaurant has lovely location overlooking Penarth esplanade. It's a converted victorian shelter. Food is always excellent with good choice and menu well balanced with no 'overload' of choices. Would highly recommend. Also not noisy as there aren't a huge number of tables, just enough for 'atmosphere'.
Good food. Excellent view out to sea. Service good on the whole but a bit slow at times. Prices fair. We enjoyed our meal. Thanks
Food was very good, fabulous location and views, however service was extremely slow. the bread and butter pudding was the best I’ve ever eaten out. They did redeem themselves by taking the drinks we had off the bill because of the slow service. My only disappointment was that they do not make any cocktails, and most of the specialty beers were not in stock.
Lovely venue overlooking the sea. Food was excellent and we were the only people in the Fig Tree to start with. The menu had a good choice of meals.
