Lovely restaurant. Clear view of the sea. Plenty of staff serving, so service was excellent. Menu was limited, but had enough to make a good choice. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend
Lovely staff and amazing food! Also in a fabulous location. Will defo be brining all our friends here we loved it! Thank you very much!
Great local food, with fabulous views over the channel and excellent service. One of my favourite places to eat and have recommended to friends and family.
This was our second visit to The Fig Tree. We had visited back in 2014 for a special occasion. The high standard of food and friendliness staff were as we remembered. A great evening. Thank you all at The Fig Tree
Excellent meal with a high quality of service; made very welcome throughout the evening. Highly recomend a visit. I will visit again with family and freinds.
Lovely food, lovely staff, lovely location. I will very happily return any time. What a gem of a restaurant. Thank you to the team for giving us such a wonderful evening.
Excellent service staff friendly nice decor we all had starter main and deserts food was excellent l had hake which was delicious it was a very enjoyable evening.
Filet steak was quite tough and one of ours was undercooked had to be sent back. Lovely location and other food was nice, shame about the steaks though.
Quality of food was very good and the gluten free options were excellent. The Manager was extrememly friendly and made us feel very welcome. The ambience on a cold winters night was warm and welcoming and the overall experience was one we want to repeat.
Very nice reasonably priced restaurant on the seafront with beautiful views. Service excellent & food good. We had lunch which was quite simple - fish & chips & burgers but very good quality.
Our third time to visit this lovely restaurant overlooking Penarth esplanade. Beautiful Sunday lunch, lovely staff and a warm ambience within the quaint Victorian restaurant.
Great food, great service in a fabulous location. Good selection on the menu, catering for vegetarian and gluten free diets. Very friendly and reasonably priced
Great service food and atmosphere will be back hadn't been before went with my sister that was visiting and she also love it mussels were lovely and sweet and desserts were yummy. Staff were all very professional and friendly
A family-run restaurant, the Fig Tree is a quirky, friendly restaurant with excellent food, a good wine list and great views over the Bristol Channel from its location high up on Penarth Esplanade. I had the braised lamb shoulder and it was very good. The seating is tiered inside, so people at the rear of the restaurant can see over those in the front and still have a view of the sea and on warmer days the outside seating is popular and covered against the occasional shower of rain. Booking is usually necessary. The restaurant has wifi but why on ear they would anyone want to be sending emails while in such a delightful place.
Fabulous food excellent service , set in a picturesque area of penarth well worth a visit will definately recommend this resteraunt to friends and family
A well cooked lovely meal served by helpful and highly competent staff. One main course was not up to standard and was replaced without asking. Great having 500 cl carafes of wine.
Lovely restaurant and food was delicious! Choice of food was very good. We will definitely be returning, service was friendly and efficient. Prices were reasonable.
Good cooking and fine ingredients with attentive and helpful service. All this with a sea view - excellent All this with a sea view - excellent
My wife and I dined inside the restaurant, which was surprisingly busy for a Wednesday with a large birthday party in full swing. The food was faultless with a good house wine and the service attentive. No little biscuit or mint with the coffee though the coffee was excellent. Every table in this restaurant has a view of the sea, the promenade and the pier, all of which is a splendid sight. All in all a superb experience which I can thoroughly recommend.
We read the reviews and couldn't the a bad one. It is a beautiful restaurant, beautiful views, amazing food. Just perfect. We will definitely go again and again. Can't recommend it highly enough.
Great food, friendly service, lovely wine, good choice for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. The location and views are spectacular, and whilst it's not a cheap eat, the cost is good value for the quality.
Food was delicious, service excellent, would highly recommend, shame it wasn't sunny on the day we visited as I'm sure the view would be lovely
The staff were extremely helpful as we turned up early and on the wrong day! They fitted us in and didn't rush us. The food was fantastic and the service was perfect - just the right balance of friendly but leaving us to enjoy our meal. Would highly recommend.
Lovely evening sitting outside Figtree on veranda watching sunset over penarth pier and the islands. Food delicious - fish of the day and great bottle of Chablis. Altogether a very pleasant evening.
Superb food with an excellent choice on the Sunday menu with good value for money, beautiful setting, looking out over the sea, the staff were friendly and very efficient.
Food good quality and quantity - ambience and view excellent - service slowish with need to ask several times for water to be brought and then only tiny bottle for 3
A lovely meal, the food was great and the setting on the seafront is wonderful. The service was also very good. A very enjoyable evening!
We all enjoyed the meal. Staff and service excellent. It was great to be able to take our very well behaved dog on the balcony.
Ambience was lovely Table overlooking the sea , Service was very good Food was mediocre Fish and chips were lovely but the rest was poor quality and overpriced will think twice about another visit
Everything was professionally organised and delivered with charm. The menu was well focussed and offered a range to suit everyone. We will be returning with optimism in anticipation of another pleasurable experience.
Great views, friendly service and delicious food - definitely going to come back here again. Fantastic to see the restaurant also has good disabled access and facilities.
Good food a great sevice. Location is very nice and the view on the sea is wonderful. We had a great time there and I'll come back for sure
Went for Sunday lunch . Friendly attentive staff who could not have been more helpful . Great food and atmosphere . We Will definitely return.
Excellent friendly service and food with a wonderful view of the pier and sea. Fish was excellent and cheesecake great too. Booking on line in seconds was easy.
I ordered gnocchi with mushroom fricasse and some of the mushrooms were hard and the dish overall was dry - not enough sauce. My husband ordered duo of lamb and again the lamb was dry.
Beautiful restaurant in a stunning location, overlooking the sea serving freshly prepared, high quality food. Excellent wine selection too and very friendl, yet professional staff.
Amazing food, very friendly service and fantastic location make this the best place for a leasurely lunch with friends or family. I just keep coming back for more!
Just such a nice place. A real gem. Great service, a brilliant table on the verandah overlooking the sea and excellent food. We were visiting someone nearby and found the Fig Tree in a guide book. Brilliant find. Gets busy for Sunday lunch apparently, so we will book if coming over for that.
The Fig Tree is a favourite. We visited again for an early evening spring dinner with overseas visitors. The location opposite Penarth pier is fantastic. We had a warm welcome and, as usual, an interesting menu with locally sourced ingredients. My only problem is that I ate too much! As so often happens, we were left sitting quite a long time waiting for our bill when we were really ready to go.
Warning of 30 minutes cooking time for main course no deterrent ; somewhat tardy service more so. But nice atmosphere, lovely outlook, and "relaxed" service made for a good occasion
