Charged adult price for kids meal when clearly ordered 2x kids meals. Got peas when ordered beans with one kids meal. Clearly said beans. The younger guy who took the orders needs to repeat it back to avoid happening for others.

The staff could not have been more attentive. Even tried to win over my grumpy dog. Food was delicious and piping hot. A lovely way to celebrate as part of my husbands 50th birthday celebrations. Restaurant was clean and tidy as were the toilets.

Seated and served quickly, great that it's dog friendly, only issue we had after we'd finished no one came near table for too long, we kept trying to catch waitress attention, eventually went up and paid at reception, so if knew we could of paid there would've done that earlier rather than just sat waiting, we know that know and did enjoy the food.

Sunday lunch was fantastic and great service. Very busy so advise to book

Poor service inattentive waiters. Had to go to the bar in the middle of our meal for drinks. Wasn’t asked if we wanted a dessert or coffee

We had steak and mushroom pie and it was very tasty - portion sizes were big so make sure you are hungry

The service was good. The waiter remembered my food intolerance from my booking. I didn't have to remind him. The food was excellent. Friendly staff.

The setting is lovely and friendly staff but the food wasn’t great, the roast beef was like leather really tough, the roast potatoes were really hard, the cheesecake tasted stale and off. It was a shame as it could of been so good

We visited here on our way home from a trip to Lodore Falls, the food and service was excellent.

Very friendly welcome, lovely setting and cosy table next to the fire. My only complaint was the lamb I choose for Sunday lunch was extremely fatty and for the price paid was a little disappointing.

Met with family, 6 of us, and was given a table in a good spot. Choice of good was too much, all sounded delicious. Happy with our choices and the service. One of our favourite local places.

Food was lovely and the service and waiting time were very good and the chef even did a meal which wasn't on that days menu when asked.

Dreadful. The food was tasteless but to be fair when we told the waiter 50% was taken off the bill. Not great though when the staff admit it was tasteless because it was frozen. The only thing going for the place are the lovely, friendly staff who are extremely attentive. We won’t be going back.

Could do better. We were served by young staff who appeared to be untrained or didn't bother to engage. The elder staff needed to prompt the youngster that they were to lead us to our table. There was no menu at the table. There was no follow up table service until I approached the bar about this oversight. The elder staff were apologetic. My starter was bland, the main was okay. The other diners dish though plentiful was not especial. The restaurant had a pleasant appearance and ambience, the prices matched this, but the food quality didn't match the impression given. Not keen to return.

This place deserves a lot of credit. They keep their prices down especially from the ones in most of the pubs/ restaurants on this area. They have alot of staff ho are really helpful and friendly. Still the best place around to go to for food and just drinks.

Great food,excellent service. Shame we didn’t know dogs allowed in bar area or we’d have asked to sit there. Had to drive doggie back to Cockermouth!
