Every thing went smoothly. Table waiting for us. Food exceptional. Lamb Henry perfectly cooked as was the most superb liver. I have always found that the vegetables are cooked to exactly my liking. Well done H&F.
Visited as family of four, good food. We had the burgers and the pie and we were all happy.
Great food and excellent service. What more could you want!
Excellent food combined with very attentive and pleasant staff throughout the evening.
Brought friends her for the first time and they were not disappointed. Sunday lunch was fresh and delicious with generous helpings and the staff are unfailingly helpful and efficient

Amazing place , booked to go later this week .
Great food Very efficient service Friendly staff Will be back!
We were on our holiday so therefore we had reserved the table to have lunch at the Horse and Farrier pub at Threlkeld in the Lake District. We enjoyed our lunch very much, and our dog even got a dog biscuit as well. We were so impressed with our lunch and we also had a lovely view of the fells from our dinner table as well. Thank you, to the waiters and waiteresses at the Hourse And Farrier pub. We will be back to have lunch on another day, when we are back on holiday for October 2025. Mr. and Mrs. G. Anderson.
Quick service 3 nice make waiters food beautiful too defo go back
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff & great traditional locally sourced food.
Great food and great service and value for money. Recommended
We loved the Horse and Farrier. Delicious lamb shank. The service was really quick and all the waiting staff were so friendly. Keith especially, showed his years of experience in hospitality. A gentleman. We will return.
Excellent food , drinks and service. Beautiful old pub. Highly Recommended
Our table wasn’t ready but after waiting about 10 minutes we were given a different table which was perfect for our needs. Our food was superb and the service was good. Keith’s jokes continue to entertain us. We will be back.
We visit a lot and we always feel welcome and the staff are great. We booked for Sunday lunch and our starters were great. Pate for my wife and chipolatas for me. We had the beef and lamb roasts and everything was of a good standard apart from the meat. The lamb was fatty and extremely chewy and the beef was tough. We shouldn’t be expected to pay good money for below average food. I’m not a qualified chef or cook but if I can cook meet properly, it shouldn’t be a tough task for a chef/cook. This will not stop us coming as we are regular customers throughout the year. This is just a little constructive feedback to help improve this fine establishment.
Lovely Sunday lunch. Good selection of veg and gluten free options.
Our table was a perfect place for us with our dog! Food was just lovely, good service too!
Welcoming atmosphere. Great food. Excellent service. Would go back again.
Food excellent. Venison casserole amazing, tender meat and very generous quantity. Met up with friends we hadn't seen for over ten years, and we had a nice table tucked away in a corner which made chat easier. Recommended.
We had a lovely meal thank you,s very much we will be back
We had a wonderful evening celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary. We were made to feel special and were never rushed. The food was incredible with lots of gluten free options Thank you Keith for a wonderful evening.
I booked a table at The Horse and Farrier based on online reviews, and it didn't disappoint. The food was good, particularly the spinach & ricotta ravioli, and the service excellent. All at a very reasonable price. Would definitely recommend.
Good food great pub nice staff enjoyed it will be back
We had a lovely meal last night. Food was excellent as was the service. Very child friendly too. Will definitely be back again when we next up visiting.
A very well run, organised and efficient pub with great, proper food. It was obvious that the chef had given a lot of thought to the menu. Service was impeccable throughout. We’d definitely eat there again.
We eat here once a year when we visit Threlkeld for the Mikron Theatre performance. We usually have the vegetarian curry but this year it was a disaster and we both had to leave a substantial amount of the food. It was far to hot a meal, even for a curry. That is our only grumble.
Lovely menu with a good choice of Specials. Very good value Staff were very friendly and helpful, service very efficient and lovely atmosphere. Enjoyed it so much we booked to go again !!
A wonderful welcome from a very well dressed gentleman. The variety of food on offer was extensive. Once ordered it came in good time. A really, really good find.
Had a fantastic Sunday lunch after a long walk. Although busy, the service was quick and very accommodating. We were late and notified them in advance, they were very helpful. Would recommend.
Excellent service, lovely staff ,great service and, fantastic Sunday lunch well worth a visit price reasonable lovely place and atmosphere
Good food, nice pub staff welcoming.reasonably priced food and drink
Great food and evening, Keith the restaurant manager is fantastic!
Very good food and a great atmosphere. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to visit a typical old Lakeland pub
Lovely pub with good selection of beers, in the main the food is also good / very good but don’t bother with the starter tomato and burrata salad - £8:50 for a sliced tomato, a little bit of lettuce and three slices of burrata! It’s a pity because some of the other dishes are good value and well prepared
Had to leave earlier than hoped as one of our party felt unwell but still enjoyed the mains we had and would recommend to others
Great service and delicious traditional pub food. Would definitely return.
Been five years since we last due to covid and a visit to Scotland but the pub and restaurant remains a great place to visit for a great meal
Friendly staff, good range of beers, wide ranging menu, quick service, good portions, quality of food would say standard pub. Prices average for the area. Will return.
Fantastic Sunday lunch the best place in the area to eat
Great lunch and service, thank you again, we will be back

Good service food good but not brilliant . Will dine there again
Very high quality good food with freshly cooked imaginative menu . Service excellent with charming , attentive staff ( special mention to Keith who entertained with his great sense of humour and very helpful when asked to advise on menu specials). A lovely experience, highly recommend this restaurant.
Superb choice of menu and very tasty food. The waiter/manager? Was so friendly and chatty and really made you feel welcome. Only downside we had was we were sat near the back door so was quite cold every time someone went in/out.
