Had a lovely meal here whilst visiting the Lakes. Food was glorious but the service from the staff was amazing, nothing was too much bother. We had to wade through stormy weather to get here and it was no trouble to put our wet things to dry. Sophie in particular was very helpful. Thanks for making our visit so enjoyable.

The lovely, smart, gentleman who served us was very friendly, efficient and helpful. The food was delicious and we will definitely visit again.

Enjoyed our visit today, we were half an hour early for our reservation but it was not an issue, shown to our table and drinks order taken straight away. Food also arrived quickly, slight misunderstandings with one of our meals choices ( our fault!) this was corrected with no problems. Lovely food, generous portions, attentive staff, what's not to like! We will definitely come again.

Lovely friendly staff , good service with a smile and tasty food

Fairly expensive, particularly for the portion sizes, particularly the Bruchetta, and the Hummus just had a few crisps (nachos?) with it, no tomatoes, salad, bread which would have enhanced the dish. Just a few dots of the balsamic dressing on tomato and mottzarella starter, and dressing not very flavoursome, otherwise ok. Gammon steak very small and not much flavour. Felt hassled by some waiting on staff (not all) to order drinks and meal. Starters were not finished and 2 of us still eating when the waiter arrived with hot main courses, plates in hand at our table! The 'special' dessert of ice cream with a strawberry twist was not particularly 'special' rather too sweet and a few fresh strawberries or fruit would have been nice.

Everything was great however, there was one issue;- we were in the small dining room furthest away from the bar and my wife was rather cold. We didn't ask to be re-sitted and it didn't distract from a great Sunday lunch but I mention for completeness,

Food was really good but the overall experience of the evening was topped off by the elderly gentleman that was waiting on, he was absolutely superb, made you feel really comfortable and was funny at times. Would definitely return when next up the area

Very good service. The game pie could have been warmer.

Lovely atmosphere, great menu. Very busy but service was excellent. We had the veggie roast, the mushroom wellington was delicious. Roast potatoes a little anaemic could have been crispier. Yorkshire pudding should be offered as not everyone is vegan and it comes with all other roasts. All round though a lovely meal and great service.

Every meal was delicious in lovely surroundings with a warm and inviting atmosphere and excellent friendly service.

4 of us were dining and 3 meals were lovely but the person who had fish and chips found that the batter on the fish was soggy. Not being one to complain they ate it but had an upset stomach the next day suggesting it wasn’t fully cooked. Also, no one came to our table to ask if everything was ok or to see if we wanted another drink.

The roast dinners were fab, although the portions were huge! The mushroom Wellington not so good as the pastry was soggy(microwaved?) However the overall experience was great. Staff thoughtful and friendly and good service. Creme Bruce to die for!

Lovely food, great service, good value. Had the roast turkey Sunday lunch. Portions were extremely generous. Good variety of vegetables, mash and roast potatoes and beautiful tender turkey. Was delicious.

Fabulous food as always! A trip to Keswick not the same without a visit to the Horse and Farrier!!!

Very busy for a Monday and the two waiters on duty struggled to provide the quality service. I also feel the ingredients used for my meal were sub standard. It wasn’t the typical Cumbrian Sausage.

Great setting. Warm atmospheric welcoming. Huge sunday roast. Pork excellent veg good. Mash bit peppery for my taste and stuffing bit pasty. Undercooked? Swede crush and greens fab. Excellent Torte and great wine and beer. A must if in the area.
