Very good value. Great Friendly staff. Will be back again.
The Sunday Lunch was excellent and clean plates all round for the Beef and Lamb. 10/10
Outstanding Dining Experience at The Horse and Farrier – Threlkeld We had an absolutely fantastic meal at The Horse and Farrier in Threlkeld. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with stunning views and a cozy, traditional pub feel that instantly made us feel at home. The chicken & ham pie was a real standout—comfort food done to perfection. The pastry was golden and crisp, and the filling was rich, flavorful, and generously portioned. Easily one of the best pub pies we’ve had in a long time. To accompany the meal, we had a pint of Sharp Edge—a superb local beer that paired beautifully with the food. Full-bodied, refreshing, and well-kept. All the staff were friendly, attentive, and clearly take pride in their work. A special mention must go to Keith, who was front of house during our visit. He’s an absolute gem—genuinely friendly, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. His attention to detail and warm demeanor added so much to the overall experience. Highly recommended whether you’re passing through or staying in the area. We’ll definitely be back!
We ate very good food but the service of drinks was very slow.
Thankyou for a lovely meal and service. Everything was great
Great, friendly service. Amazing pie (we had the chicken pie from the specials and it was one of the best we've ever had). Would definitely go back.
Been many times. Food and ambience great! Dogs are welcomed.
Overall we had a really great time. Booking online was very easy and when we arrived with two more guests you were flexible and offered us a larger table. Keith our waiter was very polite and friendly. The food came in good time, was delicious and portions were generous. We'll definitely recommend the pub to others.
Lovely food, lovely staff but a little pricey. Would recommend though.
Great food , tasty and value for money. Service dropped off at end of day.
Amazing staff ,very friendly, food great 5 star, will be back
On pour second visit to the Horse and Farrier we were not disappointed loved the menu , we like to atmosphere its friendly its an acient place but its clean and the food is great comes hot on hot plates so your food doesnt go cold whilst you are talking.! The menu has something for all, its a pet friendly place and although we didnt take our dogs we could see that the H&F caters for them very well. All in all well worth a visit and we shall be going back.!
Not the cheapest place but wow the food is simply amazing. The starters are huge and the mains were delightful. All staff members were attentive and respectful at all times. Highly recommended
Friendly staff, great food, will come back again next time
This was our first visit and definitely not our last. Food arrived quickly and was fresh, hot and homemade. Service was attentive and polite.
Repeat visit every year when we visit Keswick. Great food good portions and great service.
Friendly pub with great food at reasonable prices. Book early though, as it is popular.
Lovely as always. Best pub in the lakes. See you in September

Excellent as always from the warm welcome, polite and efficient staff and fantastic food, what more could you ask for. No hesitation in recommending, looking forward to our next visit already.
Great food, great atmosphere! The rooms are great as well , very clean modern and luxurious
Fabulous food, welcoming and attentive staff, great atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Very nice traditional Lakeland pub/ restaurant. A comprehensive menu for both food and drink. Our meals were very tasty and good quality. It was a little noisy around the bar area when a member of staff’s family were visiting with a new born baby, but that’s a minor gripe.
Lovely service and friendly staff. Roast dinner was excellent . Thank you
As good now as when we first visited over 20 years ago.
Lovely homemade food and pleasant staff in great surroundings. Highly recommended,
Great service, great food, dog friendly, highly recommended five stars
An excellent meal, wonderful staff We will be visiting again. Thank you to you all.
Very nice food, very efficient service from the bar & table staff
Disappointing, Sunday roast, over cooked dry beef, cold, microwaved dry potatoes and veg. The carrot/swede mash tasted of vinegar like the Swede was maybe off?. Yorkie, soggy. The first chicken burger was cold and not cooked through properly. The second ok. The starters were lovely though.
Lovely food and great service on Father’s Day .thanks for making the day special
Great experience. Friendly staff. Food was amazing and it was a good atmosphere
Lovely food as usual. Good and friendly service. Thank you
Lovely friendly service, food was great as usual. Homely and welcoming.
Lovely old fashionedpub which was busy with a nice atmosphere for a Wednesday evening / excellent attentive service / food was very nice and good portion size however not particularly cheap / cheapest bottle of white wine was £22.95 / overall a nice visit and would definitely return and recommend
We arrived earlier than booked and were accommodated straightaway,so full marks there. Food is always excellent in our experience. Staff very informative about the real ales on offer. Thank you.
Kids meal sausage was over cooked. Pie had very little meat.
Sunday Lunch - waited for 45minutes after ordering- when roast beef and roast lamb arrived both were dry, overcooked and appeared to have been standing under a heat lamp for a considerable length of time. Roast potatoes had skins like iron and mashed potatoes were lumpy. Requested a dessert menu and it never appeared! The price was not competitive with other dining establishments.
Fantastic Sunday Lunch - well done to all the team at The Horse & Farrier for such an enjoyable experience - no wonder it was so busy a very popular place 👍
Food was great, service good, lovely dining experience, would definitely return
