great food, great ambiance, will return again soon for a bar meal

Food was excellent. Lovely decor and staff friendly. My son attends Lincoln Uni so when I come over from Beverley we always chose to eat here.

The quiz was really good & the free chips were great!

The food was definitely worth the money & was very tasty. However, the waiting times were very long because there wasn’t enough staff on.

The welcome was friendly and welcoming . Decor was lovely , really liked it. We had the beef roast dinner . My son had mini fish and chips. The food was hot fresh and so tasty , was truly lovely. We all had pudding which were amazing . We couldn't fault anything . Will definitely be back next time we visit Lincoln.

It is a long time since we visited the Horse and Jockey but knowing it's reputation for good food in a lovely warm restaurant environment we picked it for a long overdue catch up with friends. Our waitress was friendly and helpful although I don't think she took it the right way when I informed her that I was disappointed no Haggis was on the specials on Burns night and I had E mailed on Tuesday to ask this but had received no reply. Her response that she was not responsible for answering E mails was not the best. Having selected our choices (limited as no Pork Belly left, only 1 Scotch Egg and only 2 Chicken Dauphinoise at only 7.30 on a Saturday night) we also ordered 2 side order portions of onion rings we were surprised when they were bought our with our starters? The waitress who bought the food out did offer to take them back but in the fear of them just sitting until our mains course we retrieved them and ate them with the starters but it was a strange scenario. Overall, the food was OK but the mussels although numerous were the smallest we have ever eaten service OK but we did have to either go to the bar or request the waitress for drinks. We were never asked that question unprompted even when she did come up to ask if the meal was OK.It took quite a while to get the bill and then pay for it. Overall a little disappointing night I'm afraid and anyone who reads my trip adviser reviews will see that they are generally positive so I find it harder to write a negative 1.

Friendly staff. Good selection of draft beers and drinks. Excellent food especially the mussels. Extra bonus is 10% for students which as our son was paying, made him happy.

Catch up with friends, had a wait when we had ordered but money was knocked off the bill but to be honest time went so quickly while we were chatting the wait didn’t bother us and food was worth waiting for.

Very friendly staff, comfortable seating and great atmosphere. Our food was of a very high standard and well priced. All round great quality and value for money. We have booked again. ps: free car park for pub guests but you must log in your registration number at the bar on arrival to take advantage of this great extra.

Was a bit noisy but that was down to amount of people in restaurant.Staff excellent.

Had an excellent roast beef Sunday roast. Good selection of veg and plenty of meat and a great big Yorkshire pudding. Followed by a cheese 🧀 board, cheesecake, apple pie and chocolate desert.

We really enjoyed our Christmas lunch at the Horse & Groom - the food had so much flavour which made me very happy :)

My visit was for a pre Christmas lunch with a friend. Friendly, welcoming staff and a lovely menu. Very tasteful Christmas decorations with real candles creating a gorgeous ambience. I had steak and ale pie with beautifully creamy mash, heritage carrots and fabulous kale. Well done and thanks to all at the Horse & Groom!

I’m afraid we had to go elsewhere...one veggie option was off already by the time we arrived (7.30pm on a Sunday), then only one mushroom pie left for 2 vegetarians, then no Lincolnshire sausages! Waitress very apologetic and discounted our drinks bill.
