Beautifully prepared food served in a cosy space by very friendly and helpful front-of-house. It's a carefully-constructed fish-only (apart from dessert) 5 course menu and the idea works really well. We shall certainly go back.

Great food, great service, great restaurant...I couldn't recommend this place enough. If all fish was cooked like this, then I'd be living on the stuff. Really nice atmosphere, too. Thank you.

This was our best meal out in our time in a Brighton. A simple idea but extremely effective and enjoyable night out. Service was fun, flexible and just spot on. Others could learn from these guys. The food is incredible, the wine flight brilliant; all round excellent. We eat out a lot and I can't say a bad thing about this place. You must try!

We had a wonderful meal - the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. They have a five course set menu that they change every few weeks.

We were greeted by Rob, a great front of house guy who made you feel at home straight away. There were a couple of things on the menu that I couldn't have and they did everything to accommodate me and we all ended up having a fantastic meal. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. It is a fantastic dining experience.

Excellent food, service and ambience. Five incredible courses, each well thought out, balanced and packed full of flavour. I am gluten free and the restaurant couldn't have been more helpful in catering to this. We will be back!

This was one of the best meals we have had in ages! Front of house guy, sorry don't know name, very attentive and a joy to talk to. Food delicicious and well presented. We booked a table at 7 and were there until nearly 10. We weren't rushed at all. The dishes were perfectly paced, making for a really enjoyable dining experience. I recommend the wine pairing! Can't wait to go back again!

Haven't really got time to write in-depth. Every course was beautifully cooked and presented. The flavours were complex and interesting; sometimes bright and novel, sometimes comforting and full. The service was another great addition to the experience. The waiter brought some choices of wine so we could blind-taste; we went for a German red and loved it. The food, staff and restaurant itself are very high standard. Will definitely recommend.

Lovely and tasteful experience. The place is small and cosy. The service is amazing. The staff showed a very deep knowledge of the fish and wine combinations. And of course all the courses were delicious and so rich in flavour... Mmm... It's not cheap but I highly recommend it because it offers good value for the quality of food that it serves. And it's perfect for a romantic soirée.

Great evening with wonderful service! A little more variety in the dishes would have been welcome...with some other seafood?? Surprised not to see crab, langoustine etc anywhere on menu. really enjoyed the wine options to go with each course.

Fabulous fresh fish cooked with imagination and complexity of flavours. Each dish a delight. Excellent solo effort by lone waiter who is cheerful and knowledgable (and very slim)! We will return to try future delights. Thank you for a wonderful meal.

The concept of fish only courses makes this restaurant an interesting one off experience. However with no seafood & few vegetables I wouldn't return. The service & wine pairing was excellent.

Superb food from Duncan Ray, excellent, professional and friendly service from Robert Smith; relaxing and intimate atmosphere. When you are a Michelin star ticker like us you are brought to the shallowness of that when you discover a restaurant like this. Superbly produced, flavoursome uncomplicated food like this vastly supersedes the frippery of the amuse bouche and other distractions. Nathan Outlaw may be the name for fish only tasting menus but I am sure even his graciousness would accept Duncan Ray competes at every level

Excellent food with superb ingredients presented in a simple, thoughtful way. It was a lovely change not to have any decisions to make about what to order. The service was friendly and efficient with a knowledgeable waiter. The lighting could be better with tables either too brightly lit or too dark, but it won't put us off returning.

Most fabulous evening, warmly welcomed by the front of house, personable and charismatic Rob. Shortly followed by a superbly prepared 5 course fish dinner by Duncan, which awakened our taste buds and tantalised our culinary imagination. My hubbie opted for the paired wine, as it was his birthday, for which he could not give enough praise. The attention to detail by Rob, coupled with the exquisitely prepared gourmet food is s a marriage made in heaven.

The set five course meal at 50 pounds was great value with every course excellently cooked and presented. The staff is small, attentive and still manage to deliver the courses in good time. The wines are well chosen and reasonable. The best overall meal so far in our two months of travels in England and Germany.

This was the third time for us at TLFM and the first with the five course set menu. It's amazing - each course has been really carefully thought through and the portion sizes are perfect for such a feast. Using fresh, locally sourced ingredients the set menu can (and probably should) be augmented by a well chosen flight of wines to match the full flavours of each course. If you love seafood and want somewhere for a real treat, with a cosy and friendly ambience, you'll struggle to find anywhere better in the city. Am already looking forward to our next visit!

Second visit to this very nice, friendly and ambitious restaurant. Of the four of us, two ate and enjoyed everything put in front of them, but for the other two there was simply too much - a frequent problem with the tasting menu approach, I think. I write as someone defeated by the ''l'Enclume experience. It's worth a thought; one of the four of us is a big eater, one isn't, and none of us wanted to send a message back to the talented chef that we'd turned down his excellent cooking. Good place. We shall be back when we've saved up enough.
