As always when we visit Monroes food and service top notch. My Bass with clams was delicious as was my starter of goats cheese with beetroot. Wonderful fine dining at pub grub prices.

Food was amazing, all cooked from scratch with fresh ingredients! I had the goats cheese with beetroot salad for starters which was really good. The lamb roast was delicious and the berry crumble was fab! The Monro is a warm, cosy gastropub with a great atmosphere. Service was very good and we will definitely be back

Great atmosphere, pleasant service, and great cocktails. Good draft selection, but the roast was only so so, meet not very tender...not what we expected after the reviews we read...

I've always enjoyed the monro in the past. This was my 1st victor back in over a year. I found the experience really disappointing. The food was not up to the same standard it used to be. I ordered a roast, the potataoes were like warm and I could not cut through any of the beef it was too stringy and tough. Would not go back again unfortunately.

We visited for lunch mid week and it was not too busy. My husband and I ordered fish and chips and the batter on the fish was perfect - lovely and crisp and not at all greasy. Deserts were also delicious - lemon meringue and winter berry crumble. Staff were attentive and friendly. We will be returning!

Not been for a while and this is still a lovely venue with great ambience. A cold January night a log fire, excellent Malbec and good company what's not to like? We ate off the winter special menu and the quality of the food and value for money was excellent. Service was prompt and pleasant, only criticism was a little tardy bringing the bill and then taking payment. Only negatives on the food were perhaps small portion on one of the starters and none of the dessert choices floated our boats but probably personal choice. Overall a great evening and must go back sooner!

Beautiful open fire that smells amazing! Booked mid week without thinking we would need to buy the restaurant was full when we got there so even mid week, booking is advised! Good service, really helpful staff, food was excellent! We went on a day of the A la carte menu without realising so although the choice wasn't quite as expected there was still plenty of choice and top notch nosh!! Highly recommend!

An excellent Sunday lunch - quality over quantity (and that's a compliment). Friendly and helpful staff. Bloody Marys were a great start. Definitely recommended. 10 mins walk from Lime St Station.

Very tasty food and 3 courses good value for £20.95. Service excellent. They should keep the log fire going throughout the afternoon as it adds to the ambience when lit.

Excellent food and service. We have always really liked the Monro as it is good quality and good portions, but it's not overly expensive in any way. There is always a great buzz in the restaurant and we love the open fire. We will be back!!

Not for those with hearty appetites - limited choice on the menu and minimal portions. My husband had the steak which was extremely fatty and jenga style chips - very stodgy. Why can't chips be chips! I had the chicken which was fine - just not enough as a meal. Poor value for money

Tasty meal: scouse for one and very tender steaks for two. Black pudding and prawn starters and chocolate sorbet particularly good. Pears could have poached a little longer. Staff very friendly and helpful. Atmosphere good - not too noisy

I opted for the fish and chips while my friends had roast, theirs was fine while I had to send mine back ,something which I've never done ,it was literally burnt chips and burnt batter on the fish,I must say they changed it without any quibble and I wasn't made to feel awkward, which was good, however I didn't understand how it could've even been served up ! It was almost black ,apart from that the Monroe us still a great place to visit, and we always take visitors to the city there ,

Average Sunday roast. Portions were on the small side. One roast beef was stringy, fatty & inedible. Three grapes on a cheeseboard and a teaspoon of ice cream on a bread and butter pudding.

We have been visiting The Munro for many years but we were disappointed on this occasion. The Sunday roast dinner was poor.£ 19.95 for 3 courses. My wife had the Mackerel as a starter the portion was tiny.My wife is not a big eater but I estimate you could have got 8 starters out of 1 Mackerel the portion was that small. My roast potatoes were hard, as Mary Berry would say The Yorkshire Puddings had a soggy bottom, my wife's Lamb was cold . To cap it all my wife ordered The Cheesecake once again the portion was again tiny however she was grateful for this as it looked and tastes as though it had been burnt. We normally rate The Munro highly and recommend people to visit but on this occasion it did not live up to expectation.

Pleasant restaurant and very friendly staff. Table was prebooked and even though we were a little early our table was ready for us. Food was lovely and would definitely recommend this place to family and friends.
