Staff pleasant and efficient. Starters ok. All 3 main courses were really poor. The rump steak was an inferior piece of meat, run through with gristle which made it difficult to cut or chew. The pork loin, at £28, was actually half fat which was inedible and had to be left on the plate. The gnocchi were tasteless, no sign of coconut. For dessert the cranachan had a smear of raspberry sauce but was topped with strawberries!!!! This was a huge disappointment 😥

Overall quite disappointing. Both the mussel and mackerel pate starters were well cooked, nicely presented, good portion size and tasty. Both the main courses of rib-eye and venison haunch were really disappointing. The steak was grey, with no caramelization and was poorly seasoned. It arrived with veg missing requiring a request for the carrots. It was badly presented and for such an expensive cut of meat, it was treated with little respect. The carrots were burnt and the broccoli discoloured and barely cooked. The venison in the other main course was cooked well but not rested at all so the very soft(sloppy) potato mash underneath was drenched in blood. Really unpleasant. Similarly the accompanying veg was under-cooked. The desserts were basic, with little attention to detail. Both desserts looked rushed with no real attention to detail. Two sorbet scoops with nothing added for presentation. The crannachan also looked rushed but tasted nice. On a positive note there was a pleasant ambiance and friendly staff. Mustard Seed has a good reputation and we had eaten there before. Unfortunately on this occasion it fell far short in key areas of food preparation and presentation.

Ambience is good. Excited to have the same table as 4 years ago.. The birthday boy was unable to get his first choice of main course.Another member of the group felt his steak was slightly overdone. Overall we enjoyed our experience.

The starter was fabulous.. (black pudding & pork meatballs), the mains were really good (truffled mushroom and spinach lasagne) but the top, cheesy part was really hard and overcooked? Your fork isn't capable of piercing through without some force, and i found some small, extremely hard... things in my food, the waitress just said it's bit from a star of the east... wasn't the best experience and was slightly off putting. The deserts were okay, i had the Lemon sorbet that was nice after about 2 mouthfuls and then you're left with a boring piece of ice that vaguely tastes like lemon, but the cheesecake was really nice... get that. The service was decent, although, there were 2 occasions the waitress had to return to the table as they forgot someone's order

Lunch was lovely, but the only criticism I have is that there was still blood coming out of a piece of my venison, blood was over my mashed potatoes.......venison wasn't rested enough. Staff were lovely and very polite

Amazing dining experience as always. The staff were practically running they were so busy and yet were responsive to everyone’s needs and the food was delicious as were the drinks. By far the best restaurant in Inverness but the well deserved awards confirm that. Thank you Mustard Seed

My husband only wanted soup. It cost over £8 but was a very small portion - not value for money! He questioned the price when paying but was told it was correct. My food was okay but i felt not to the usual standard

Have been going to the Mustard Seed for many years. Disappointingly, it is no longer value for money as it is expensive for the quality of the food and service. Poor menu choice - especially the dessert menu. Last few times we have had the same waiting staff (older blonde lady with yellow glasses) and her attitude is atrocious. Looking for alternative places to eat in Inverness.
