The Old Siam - York

Our second visit to The Old Siam. The food and service were very good and there was a nice atmosphere. We enjoyed our visit. Thank you very much.

Great food and great service. Really nice and romantic atmosphere for my wife and I. We had been a few years ago and wondered if it would still be as good as it had been and it was. The only bad thing was they got the final bill slightly wrong but they quickly corrected it, so do check your bill before paying. Overall excellent

The Old Siam serves authentic & delicious food, speaking as someone born in Thailand. Service was quick & friendly with a nice ambience to the restaurant.

Loved the chicken satay starter. Had the Pad Thai for a meal and although was ok it was missing a bit more flavour. But would recommend my partner had the jungle curry which was very good and hot.

The Food was perfectly acceptable but the service was not what is usually expected in a Thai restaurant and the gents toilet was v poor.

In a less than half full restaurant on a Sunday night we were offered a tight squeeze table right up against the counter/bar, despite having reserved a table online in advance. The first table we actually sat at was completely unstable, so we moved nearer the door. In retrospect we would have left through it at this point! Starters were very overpriced for the quantity and quality that we received. Our main courses were reasonably priced but by far the worst versions of Massaman we have had out. The usual tasty, tender slow cooked chunks of beef were replaced by pale, small, thin pieces of tasteless, chewy, quickly stir-fried beef strips resembling cardboard both in look and in taste! The waitresses were polite enough but didn’t once ask how our meal was either during it or at the end when clearing away half of the food. We paid the full £54 bill and left hoping that we won’t ever again have this much bad luck when choosing somewhere to eat out on a weekend break.

I'll make it clear; the food was really good. I did not enjoy the meal though due to an excruciatingly loud table. I wanted to hear my family's conversation and not theirs or which exotic and expensive places they had been to. And to cap it off the card machine would not connect to the Internet so I was forced to pay cash which cleaned me out and left me short.

Good food, good service. If you like Thai food try this place

It is a fantastic restaurant, with friendly staff and delicious food. So many different flavours, with good sized portions. We really enjoyed the set menu for 4. I would definitely go again. We couldn't eat it all so took the rest home to enjoy the next day.

Simply the best Thai restaurant. The food is fresh, incredible flavours, beautifully presented. Decor is stunning and the service excellent. Will come here every time we are in York

Good but not special.Quite pricey.Nice service. The lamb curry was very tasty.I would probably go elsewhere next time to ring the changes. No wow factor here.

Really enjoyed the food, but drinks and meal were overpriced in our opinion. There was also a discrepancy with the bill as we were charged more for our drinks than stated on the menu. We were told that the menu on our table was out of date by 2 years! To be fair we were eventually only charged as per the out of date menu, but it all seemed a bit amateurish. Also didn’t like the option to pay tips via the card machine which always seems like such a blatant attempt to avoid reward those who actually deserve the money.

Great food and efficient service! Enjoyed the pad Thai, red curry, sticky rice and pad king. All very delicious and would certainly recommend to anyone looking for delicious Thai food!

visited here on the 28th august for a meal with my partner, wonderful food, would defiantly recommend, shall be returning in the future, staff very friendly as well.

We had a lovely meal for my girlfriend birthday the service was very warm and welcoming and the food was delicious I would definitely go back and recommend to all my friends

The best Thai restaurant in York - really good food. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the atmosphere was lovely. Would highly recommend, definitely worth revisiting!

We love coming to the Old Siam each time we are in York and are usually blown away by the quality of the food here. For whatever reason, this wasn’t the case on Saturday lunchtime. We selected from the lunch menu and all of the party found the food to be very salty (which we have never found before either here or in other Thai restaurants). The atmosphere was nice and the price was still good, but just not of the quality that we have come to expect at the Old Siam.

This is the best Thai Restaurant in York. It is always very welcoming, serving lovely food and offering a great service. Very good value for money too. Highly recommended.

Lovely food & good service. There was a good choice of dishes available on the menu. The sharing platter starter was very nice, a lot of other people had also chosen it. My wife had the lamb shank, which had loads of meat on it. Good value for money.

Could not fault the meal we had here, and all staff were polite and courteous. Would certainly eat here again if in the area. York is a very busy place.

Love this restaurant. Fabulous food and my favourite Thai in York. It was very warm in there as it's only fairly small but we'll worth a visit. Massamam was delicious and my hubby tried the soft crab which he really enjoyed followed by beef penang. All amazing flavours and beautifully presented.

The food was wonderful, and the staff were very accommodating. It is the second time we've visited The Old Siam, and we would definitely be visiting many more times.

Very good service and excellent food. The best Thai in York. The fish dishes are amazing. The Monsoon Valley wine is excellent and priced well.

Fantastic restaurant within the walls of York just by on Micklegate. Lovely, friendly staff, fantastic food. The lunch menu is brilliant value for money. Highly recommended and 100% will be returning again!

A cut above most Thai restaurants we've visited, good yet reasonable priced food and drinks menus - will definitely be back on our next visit to York.

Arrived slightly late thanks to new train timetable. Friendly staff and very tasty food. Enjoyed the experience and would return in future if back in York.

Fantastic place with a lovely atmosphere but we now realised Thai food Is not to our liking. For somebody else who likes Thai food this would be perfect. We could not fault the service.

Really nice, good quality food. Reasonable prices. Excellent service really pleasant and welcoming Would recommend to anyone. We were a party of 10 and for a small restaurant coped well. Good location near to all bars.

Great meal as always at the Old Siam, service impeccable (drinks quickly brought, hot day so water brought to the table without asking for it etc) and meal went a lovely pace.

Excellent - Had the Lamb shank massaman curry - must try ! Local for anyone stopping at the Premier inn. Must book if going at the weekend
