The Old Siam - York

Visited York for a family Christmas get together and reserved a table at the Old Siam. We weren't disappointed; the food was fantastic and the attentive staff very professional. The atmosphere was buzzing and we had a great night!

Superb food, superb customer service. The staff is super friendly as Thai people are. Very genuine experience. And the food is amazing, I was blown away.

Great, authentic Thai. Lovely staff and surroundings, we asked for extra heat in one dish and it was no trouble at all. Vegetarian option as flavoursome as the fish and beef.

The Old Siam - really helpful, friendly staff. Delicious food, fresh ingredients and both familiar dishes and those that are more authentic and unusual. The set meals are a good choice if you have not eaten much Thai food before as there are a few different dishes to try- all fantastic!

Lovely evening, lovely food with excellent service. Went on a Sunday evening. Not too busy. Few pubs nearby for drinks before hand. Would visit again.

Great Food - restaurant was busy on a Sunday night so you do need to book. Had the meal for two and would recommend - Thai wine was excellent

Slight hiccup with online booking (best to phone instead) but managed to fit us in. Food and service both excellent. Would definitely come again when we're next in York.

The food is great, definitely one of the better Thai restaurants in York! The service is awesome but would recommend to make reservations ahead of time.

Very friendly staff, good food and a very cosy atmosphere. Limited parking nearby and also a limited choice of beers to drink. Pricing is reasonable, about £25 p/p starter, drink, main and side.

The restaurant and meal were very very good. However next time I will ring to reserve a table as they had no record of my reservation I made via quandoo on their website. Fortunately I had the confirmation email and the staff were able to accommodate us despite the restaurant being fully booked.

Unobtrusive, attentive and friendly service. Food was delicious, well presented and good value for money. I recommend the Old Siam platter to start. Good selection, including chicken wings, prawn toast, spring rolls, wontons, satay chicken and fish cakes. We will return

Very disappointing. Worst Thai we ever had... Very poor quality of food. The mixed starter was tasteless and so were the mains. Very dusappointing dinner.

Friendly service from the start. table a bit cramped - by the door, a very tasty / flavoursome Pad Thai and Sea Bass Red Curry.

Really enjoyed the food, but felt rushed throughout the whole experience. When we asked for coffee, after occupying our table for an hour and 20 minutes, we were informed that there was a limit to how long we could occupy our table!

Wonderful food, decor and furniture could be improved but that did not take anything away from the food. However the constant moving and lifting of tables and chairs around the restaurant to accommodate the various party sizes coming to the venue was a constant distraction and limiting the space around. Nice if you liked the waitresses backside in your face as she was serving the table next to you?

Excellent food. Service was not the best and had to wait 15 minutes for a couple to finish before being seated even though we had booked the table and turned up on time. The restaurant was busy and food served very efficiently.

Booked a table on line. Menu extensive. Fabulous food and service. My friend was delivered at least three pots of tea during her meal, to her delight.

This is the second time I have been to The Old Siam. We had a set menu for 4. The starters were really good and the selection of mains were good too. Service could have been a bit quicker but overall it was an enjoyable meal and good food.

We came to York for a break and found tjis place using TripAdvisor, Lovely restaurant, authentic, great food, very tasty, lovely staff. Very busy on a Friday night but just means that its very liked.

A gastronomic delight of authentic thai food served by extremely friendly and helpful staff and a wide selection of food. We liked it and would recommend it.

We had a great experience at the old siam. The staff were lovely and we had great service despite then being insanely busy. The food was absolutely delicious! A true thai experience! Would recommend 100%!

Excellent food and great service, cannot fault Old Siam and will definitely return. Had the Tom Yum Gai and red curry, my friend had a different but equally delicious dish and also had no complaints. Highly recommend.

Been to this restaurant before, just as a couple before but this time as a quartet. A thoroughly enjoyable dining ecperience. Food was very good, staff were obliging and attentive, and we were not rushed off. Will go again and recommend to others.

Very pleasant staff, nice ambiance and most importantly the food was amazing. Took my wife for a birthday meal. I've never had Thai green curry anywhere near as nice as there. Will definitely be back but next time with friends.

Beautiful Thai food at the top of Micklegate a short walk from the city centre. Very good quality food that is not overly priced. Pleasant atmosphere.

Extremely slow service, appreciate the restaurant was busy, but 2 hours for 2 courses was rather slow. Food was mixed. I enjoyed my meal but others in our party felt the chicken was a bit rubbery in texture.

An excellent restaurant in terms of the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. Tiny toilet area lets it down a bit but we'll definitely be back.
