First class service from mgr, girls need a bit more work...trying to clear table whilst still eating

Dispite the pub was very busy the food came up very quickly. Good food. Lots of birthdays, hen night so coukd be hard to hear but face to a good atmosphere.

Wet and chilly weather but had a warm welcome from staff. Very enjoyable afternoon with wonderful food and friends.

Food was good apart from the peppercorn sauce which was congealed and inedible. Unfortunately we were sat right by a door where people kept going outside for a cigarette which to be honest got really annoying after about 15 mins especially once we were eating. Would return but request to sit elsewhere.

Food was good value, although it was quite noisy so difficult to hear conversation even though it wasn't busy.

As you will have realised my friend and I eat at the racehorse most every Thursday night as we do the quiz so I review regularly .... always honestly and constructively. This week the meals were complete, very hot and very tasty. The hunters chicken was 'spot on' with just the right amount of BBQ sauce, chips were hot and crispy. My friend's Katsu curry was hot and tasty too and the salad it was served with was nice and varied and included sugar snap,peas and pomegranate seeds ..... all in all a great meal 👍😃

My friend and I ordered the quiz pizza offer and added a side order of mixed salad. Both pizzas were hot and tasty. The salad was varied but sparse - for £2.95 I would have expected the small bowl to be filled! Hopefully the salad will be better value for money next week.

Excellent Sunday roast and desserts. Booked for Christmas day. Cant wait. Keep up the good work guys.

Food was very good, and there was plenty of it but took some time to arrive, especially the desserts. Service at the bar was also slow.

Sunday Roasts were great. Tables could do with a bit of jigging around. Some are close to kitchen doors & very loud. But staff were great, friendly & efficient. Can’t wait to go back.

Last minute booking. Busy restaurant. Told in advance of 45 minute wait for food. We happily accepted this as we booked late. However wait was only 20 minutes. Food was great, hot, tasty. Staff friendly and efficient.

It's the first steak my husband has had in a while where rare has come out rare. Really enjoyed our meals, though some might have thought a tad loud was our type of music so we didn't mind at all. Great friendly staff. Excellent all round.

Missed a meal off of the order! Had to sit their and watch others whilst awaiting a meal! Tried to blame it on garlic bread!

This week my friend had a burger ... all good, hot and tasty. I decided to have a change from the quiz pizza deal and chose the superfoods salad with chicken, bacon and mango with a side order of skin on fries. The fries were good, crispy and hot. The salad was tasty but incomplete .... no quinoa or sugar snap peas and no mango!! Thoroughly enjoyed the meal but when I mentioned the omissions to the lady who appeared to be managing on Thursday evening she said she didn't know what the kitchen had in stock! Surely if it's on the menu it should be in stock and if you've run out that should be notified to the customer at the point of sale (the till) so that there is an opportunity to revisit the menu. Always a good meal, lovely food and good service but sometimes the standard slips.

Nice food, hot and tasty. Good service too. Not a wide choice of dessert if you don't eat strawberries.

Viewed the menu online and it looked good, so booked a table. Was then disappointed to find on arrival that they were running a reduced menu for Bank Holiday Monday. Service was slow and food was average at best.

A busy night at the Racehorse so had to wait a while at the bar to get served. Pizza was hot and tasty but salad was disappointing just a lot of mixed leaves and onion .... one piece of cucumber and no tomato!

This was my 3rd visit and although I love the place and food, this time service was very miss mash. I prefer it to be 0ne service person and then they can know what they are doing.. If more people serve each person leaves it to the other, therefor we got too much time between each course. The restaurant was not that full to make that the excuse. Still it will not stop me going again soon.

Very friendly staff. Bit of a wait to be seated. Food was not bad, I had lamb with roasted sweet potatoes and mediterranean vegetables, with a mild jerk sauce. Tasty enough but too much sauce for my liking. Cheesecake dessert was delicious.

Very nice Sunday roast. Staff were busy, but attentive.it's expected that it would be busy on a Sunday, so no complaints!

Poor service. Waited over an hour after ordering for the food for it to be served. Witnessed three other tables walking out due to poor service. Food “ok” but nothing to write home about!

Roast was good quality, took a while to come out to us, music was very very loud so was difficult to hold a conversation. Enjoyed the food and my time there though

Nice meal - can thoroughly recommend the hunters chicken which I had and the katsu chicken which my friend had. Both tasty and hot. Unfortunately my friend ordered the cheesecake for dessert but, although she was served cheesecake, it was not the one on the menu - shame she wasn't told at the till that they had run out of the one on the menu. Soon remedied with a no fuss refund.

We visited The Racehorse for my Dad's Birthday as both my parents have visited twice before and enjoyed it. Safe to say I doubt we will be returning after the experience we just had! We arrived for our meal on time and was shown to our table straight away from there on nothing was on time...it took 10 minutes before a waitress came to take our order for drinks and then when we finally ordered it took nearly 50 minutes for my brother's starter to arrive when we were told it had been sat on the wrong table! Turns out it wasn't very tasty anyway so he wished he hadn't bothered ordering it! Then the mains came out 1 hour after ordering and they weren't hot plus it took another 5 minutes for the vegetables to go with our roast dinners! All of our roasts were disappointing to say they least my chicken was so small I thought it was a starter and my Dad's was tasteless! We were never asked during our meal how the food was once which was also poor. We complained to the waitress and she said she would see what she could do and £10 was taken off the bill by the manager who then apologised for our experience and asked what he could do to help he offered a free meal on the house next time we visit but nothing in writing so we would have to chance our bets that he would be there if we came back and also him remembering promising this to us. Doubt we will bother as it ruined what was supposed to be a nice family Birthday meal and the wait times and poor quality of food and service were abismal!

Unfortunately long waiting times, missing ingredients in salad and food over cooked and dry. Waiting staff very pleasant and tried to make up for shortcomings.

Bar staff was great, unfortunately the food took way too long, we sat down at 7:30 and ordered straight away, the starter came at 8:15 and the main at 9:10. A ridiculous time to wait for food, we sat outside to be in the sun and by the time we had our mains it was dark! A shame because the bar man was really friendly and the gins he served us were presented brilliantly.

One member of our party had fish and chips and was not very hot.

A much better experience with the food this week .... back to its usual high standard

Very disappointing. Extremely poor service meant we had to get our own menus and drinks from the bar after waiting 20 minutes for someone to greet us at the table - they didn't. Then we had to go again to the bar to order our food as we still hadn't been acknowledged at the table. This was 35 minutes since we arrived, to then be told they had run out of pizzas and there was a further 35 minute minute wait for the food Needless to say we left at that point whilst hearing other tables complaining about the service. We had a lovely meal at the Fourpenny Shop and Hotel where they couldn't have been more welcoming.

We booked a table for 19.00 we did not get our food till 20.30. We should have been informed on our arrival that there was over an hour wait. I appreciate that it was busy but we were not kept up to date unless we asked. The food by the way was excellent!. The manager did talk to us at the end of the meal to apologise and changed the bill amount.

Service was aweful, staff stood about talking, waited 40minutes for food , rude and not interested attitude my one of the waitresses with glasses, .

Very friendly staff, but a long wait for food. Lovely decor, such à brilliant change from last landlords.

We booked for 6.15 on a Sunday night, sat down and ordered drinks only to be told that there we no roasts! No roasts on a Sunday....we only booked for the roast. Someone needs to get their act together running out by that time on a Sunday. Ended up leaving to look elsewhere.
