The food was good, the staff were nice and friendly. Pleasant surroundings. We were not rushed and the food came out to us in an acceptable time. I would recommend this restaurant.

Lovely and friendly. Food was good quality and excellent value. On a Sunday between six and eight they do two for one on their hanging kebabs.

We'd only ever had a drink here before today but will definitely be back again. Good food, service and ideal for family meals. Recommend the carvery for a decent Sunday lunch.

Friendly, helpful staff, modernised interior of a historic pub, good choice on the menu and reasonable quality food. The pub has a good amount of car parking and a very good children's playground including table tennis, badminton and bouncy castle.

We had a beautiful lunch at The Unicorn's Head. The quality of the fresh ingredients was excellent and locally sourced. The Beef and Stout Pie with amazing homemade chips and mushy peas were excellent with lovely home-cooked flavours and light pastry. The Spaghetti Carbonara contained home baked ham and a selection of mushrooms and was creamy and delicious. The sticky toffee pudding was light and very tasty with flavours of treacle. This was my first time going to the Unicorn's Head but it certainly won't be my last. I couldn't fault the staff either who were attentive without being over-fussy and their professionalism is a rare thing to find in a lot of restaurants and pubs. Great value at £11.95 for two courses at lunch time.

Fish pie devoid of fish and watery. Chips black, but apparently not burnt, it was just the sugar in the potato skin that made them look burnt, I sent them back anyway and the replacements must have been sugar free as they were golden brown. One of the waiting staff said he had the fish pie and his had no fish in it either! The bar manager was polite and reduced the bill and gave us a voucher, I think we will wait a while before going back. We have on previous occasions had nice meals here.

Nice setting and lovely food. Waitress was very stand offish and didn’t really make us feel welcome which ruined the evening really. Very friendly chap behind the bar.

We have eaten several times before at the the unicorn our last visit being in February 2018 and have alway had a lovely meal with excellent service, so this is why we choose it to take our friend out for her 60th birthday traveling just under a hour from Derbyshire for our visit. But how things have changed. Food was way below stranded and service, what can I say I think the staff were inexperienced and made it up as they went along, instead of finding the correct answer to your question. Very poor will not be going again and have advised our friends that took us originally not to bother as well. The 1 is because there's no 0 😤

Food on the floor Cutlery dirty Not all food on menu available Had to ask about salad that was missing from two main meals Not all deserts available One desert chosen was quite rubbery, not nice, advised staff who did remove cost from the final bill Steaks not cooked to customer request. Looking forward to it but very disappointed.

We arrived 15 minutes before our table reservation. There was nobody at the bar and staff were walking around looking thoroughly disinterested. Most of the tables were empty of guests but full of empty glasses and dirty plates. We did not stop to find out what the food was like. A very poor first impression.

Quick service. Huge carvery plates and it was well managed as you are invited up one table at a time. 5 choices of meat and the food was good. There is a lovely outdoor area and child friendly playground. There was even a bouncy castle today. (Dont know if that’s always there as this was my first time). I will definitely be going back.

Good food, friendly staff, but very slow on service and not particularly busy. Would have been ok without children, but they waited 45 minutes for food and were hungry and there’s really no excuse for leaving the table uncleared for 30 minutes without us asking for the desert menu. A bit more attention to detail and it would have been a better first impression. We might go back, but there’s a lot of good pubs in the Vale.

Friendly staff who wanted to do everything they could to resolve problems as we had to send back our steak twice. Third time it was fine but by then we had lost some of the desire to eat it. Could not fault the response of the staff in trying to resolve the problem and offer a discount on the bill and a complimentary drink. Have been before and have not had any problems. Fantastic gin selection although staff need more training about the range and service of gin and tonic. Would give it another go.

Mayhem. Barrel took forever to change. Steak over cooked. Burnt pizza. Beer was good when finally arrived. Won’t go back for food. Nice beer gardens. Staff v young and inexperienced. Most appeared more interested in building what looks like a BBQ section for Monday. Didn’t complain to be honest - just wanted to leave ASAP.
