It was busy and had a bit of a wait for our food, 6:45 on a Saturday evening so was to be expected, but it was worth it!!. Second time eating here and it was delicious. Highly recommend booking first as it is getting popular

Friendly and welcoming restaurant with excellent food and service! Not too pricey for the high quality of food served, and the environment is perfect for an intimate or family meal

Charming waitresses, lovely atmosphere. Something happened and our food took a VERY long time to arrive, but I'm presuming that it was a blip, as it was certainly lovely when it did turn up.

Delicious meal enjoyed by myself and my two friends. This was the first visit for all of us. Lovely atmosphere and staff. The bowl of sweets at the end was much appreciated. Will be back to try out the breakfasts and the Sunday roast. I recommend booking first as it is popular

Under new ownership with a completely new decor but food just as good as ever. Always well a visit. One of the best restaurants Walthamstow Village has to offer.

40 minutes before starters arrived, one of the starters was incorrect. Then another 40 minutes for mains. Flabby pork belly. Freezing cold, with other diners also keeping their coats on (and also getting wrong orders) and perfunctory service. Not sure if the management has changed, but the service and cosy vibe definitely has. Was a go-to, but no more.

Waitress was a little sullen to start off with but food very good. Food came in good time. I will certainly be visiting again soon. Good selection on menu and vegan colleague very happy with soya milk for coffee (almond also available).

Food was excellent for the mains, although there was a slight mix up on appetisers which they corrected quickly. Overall an enjoyable evening as always.

I love the village kitchen and have been going there since I moved to the U.K. the food is always fresh the staff are very friendly. The atmosphere is amazing the kitchen is open so you can see the chef cooking away. If you are looking for a great place to eat at really good prices in Walthamstow then the village kitchen is certainly one on the top of the list.

This is NOT place to visit if you are vegetarian! The starter was OK, Hummus, bread etc, the risotto was terrible, far too salty, I couldnt eat it all, it was so salty it made me nauseous. I was with friends so decided to not worry and ask for a sorbet for dessert, the restaurant said it was in the house, which was nice except it was full of ice crystals and had that taste of something that fell down the back of the freezer long ago. On a positive, the waiter was very good, polite and efficient. Despite this I won’t waste money there again.

Service great but food was distinctly average. Pancakes were not good - stodgy and not risen at all. Smoked salmon bagel was tasty, but a bit short on the salmon!

Liked the menu, although too many meat/fish dishes had pork in it for my liking. The chicken I ordered was a little dry. Would be good not to mix fish dishes with other types of meat. Pudding felt like it wasn't made in the restaurant, perhaps brought in? Was too sweet. Nice setting and service.

Lovely (late) lunch at the Village Kitchen. Quite hard to find somewhere in the village that does Roasts after 3pm! All the roast options were still available when we dined at 5.30 I had the salmon which was delicious. As always great service and love the little touch of the jar of sweets with the bill!

Booked an hour before, for 4 and a table was available. The service excellent, not pushy or pretentious. The food was excellent. We had a perfect night out with friends. I would recommend the Village Kitchen.

Sunday lunch was average. We asked what the vegetarian option was and was told ‘don’t know, a round thing, don’t know the name’. Everything was drowning in salt. When told that their coke was flat, the response was ‘it was out of a can’. No offer to exchange it. Long wait for food to arrive even though it was empty. Expensive for what it was and 12.5% tip included in bill. Won’t be returning I’m afraid.

Village Kitchen served us very tasty food at reasonable prices (for London). We all enjoyed our main courses very much and not a crumb was left! The service was always given with a smile - we appreciated how friendly they were. The reason I did not give the maximum marks was because my starter was very very small and ok (not great) for the price paid, but the main courses put everything right. We will be back.

I booked on Saturday to dine Sunday evening and could only get a 7pm reservation. My friends arrived on time but I was unavoidably 30 minutes late, yes the restaurant was almost empty and we were not asked for the table back after 90 minutes. The food and service were excellent. A great asset to the array of eateries in Walthamstow Village.

Very good welcome and service. Two special Mezze starters and a Calamari were excellent. Mains of lamb, duck and burger were equally good. Italian wine was enjoyable. Only minor point was the coleslaw - a bit weak.

We visited The Village Kitchen for my in laws diamond wedding anniversary. It was just perfect for them. Rob, our waiter, looked after them so respectfully and professionally. He had such a lovely manner about him. Thank you Rob, you made their evening special with your treats of Prosecco and dessert. We are very grateful. The food was great quality and plentiful and was so well presented. The music wasn’t too loud and the toilets were accessible. The quaint and unpretentious ambience was just right for the occasion and just what we wanted. The only difficulty we had was that we could not get the car near enough to the restaurant for a drop-off, which was difficult for elderly people, but they managed thankfully. A delightful restaurant. No complaints.
