Nice Sunday lunch. Good choice of drinks. Plenty of food and able to accommodate any special requirements with pleasure. Everyone of our table of 8 left happy and full
One of the best Sunday lunches you can get in Hull! Great value at £25 for 3 courses. Only let down was the cauliflower soup was served cold, but after enquiring whether it was supposed to come that way it was quickly dealt with. A new bowl arrived a couple of minutes later. We had booked for a 3pm table and were left waiting for quite a while because there were supposedly tables clearing, but when we went through to the restaurant it was half full. Possibly more to do with tables not been available that were staffed. Anyway the waiting area is nice enough I suppose. Probably how they get to sell those lovely looking sausage rolls sat on the bar!
Thoroughly enjoyed meal , the staff were attentive and knowledgeable and the general atmosphere was excellent. We will return and soon Highly recommended 8/10 thanks
Love this place but one disappointing thing is the cheese board last few times we have gone there the cheese board has disappointed us because they have not had stinking bishop or black charcoal cheese on
For us this was a previously undiscovered gem. Everything combined to make it an excellent dining experience. The staff were knowledgeable and professional and the food was on a par with anything you'd find in London or New York.
Lovely setting, great food, excellent, professional service. Will return! Highly recommend.
Excellent Food, great service. Helpful with letting us mix and match between the set menu and the a la carte menu when we asked. Never disappoints.
Great property, great service and, most importantly, great food. I would recommend 1884 to any visitor to Hull. The loin of venison was excellent, as well as North Sea plaice
enjoyable meal, cosy good value and very tasty, more view would have been nice lovely warm bread cheese board looked a bit sweaty will return though
Lovely warm welcome from the staff on a very cold evening. Food excellent, my wife loved the Opera cake. The wine was a little expensive though. Good atmosphere and waitress service very good.
Much improved since our last visit almost 12 months ago. Good quality food and a decent atmosphere. Still a bit pretentious though. Worth calling in again now.
everything went decent according to me. that's all. nil nil nil nil nil nil nil nil nil nil nil nil nil nil nil nil nil.
Excellent food and service not rushed. Good ambiance. Plus a drink at gin factory afterwards, what's not to like. Would come again. Cheatu briand very good.
Excellent food and service. We really enjoyed the smoked fish starter and the steak was delicious. It was also a pleasure to have such a variety of choice on the cheeseboard. Lovely ambience and therefore a very enjoyable evening. Thank you
We’ve been a few times over the years and this was the best, menu is always fresh and exciting and, considering the quality and surroundings, good value for money
The staff were friendly, the restaurant was a nice dining experience, but overall the food was no better than other places of that standard, good but great .
Great food, service and ambiance and a fantastic wine and cheese selection right in the very heart of Hull's Fruit Market area. Would definitely recommend.
We had the 3 course set lunch menu which was good value. There wasn't a wide range of choices but the food was delicious! Would definitely recommend.
Excellent from the start to finish . Great service ,outstanding staff, top quality food And superb value . What more could you require For a Sunday lunch
Quite simply the best place to eat in Hull. The food is just amazing, they have brilliant attentive service without being overbearing, pleasant decor throughout and they are accommodating to special dietary requirements, allergies and intolerances. Can't recommend this place enough.
Friday lunch time visit with a business contact. We chose for the set menu which is good value for money given the standard. Lovely food and good service.
Went for Valentine’s Day lunch. Warm friendly welcome from attentive staff. We had Oysters to start folled by filet steak for me and fish for my Wife which was slightly over cooked. Everything else was very good. Nice place for a treat.
One of our party of four had a dish from the A La Carte menu; the other three had two courses each from the Chef's Choice, making seven dishes in all, with six different choices. Every dish was really excellent - imaginative, well cooked and beautifully presented. The Chef's Choice at £30 for two courses was more expensive than the Market Menu we've had in the past (which is perhaps not now available in the evening?) but was value for money given the care in preparation and unusual ingredients - and included a glass of Prosecco. The ambience was good as always, and the only reason I haven't given a 6 rating is that we had to wait rather a long time for our main courses. But perhaps this is to be expected when such obviously individual attention has been given to each dish.
Pleasant and helpful staff; warm and comfortable ambiance; delicious beautifully cooked and well presented hot food. However as a vegetarian, I would have appreciated a vegetarian menu - only 1 main and 1 starter was very disappointing for a restaurant of your calibre.
We had the set menu which was good value for money. The chicken was cooked to perfection. I was also impressed with the staff who were more than helpful. This place is well worth another visit.
When visiting family in Hull I always book at table at 1884. Every visit - excellent food, extensive wine list and fantastic service. Would highly recommend.
So good the food was amazing the staff were nice we had a lovely night for my birthday. The grilled aubergine with chickpea mash was so good.
Our first visit, our daughter treated us with a gift voucher for Christmas, we decided to try Sunday lunch. Staff very welcoming and attentive I had haddock fish cakes my husband had pig cheeks, both were delicious. We both opted for roast beef dinner for main, the beef was delicious and cooked perfectly, the ale jus was a little runny, would have preferred gravy, the veg and potatoes very nice although just a bit too much salt for me. Desserts were delicious my husband had Yorkshire pudding with syrup, I had the treacle tart. We will perhaps try again, the cost is fairly reasonable at £25 each.
Excellent food, service and good value. We six of us had the Sunday lunch fixed menu. Best beef we have tasted for a long time. Happy stylish lively restaurant by the harbour.
Great service, delicious food and lovely ambiance. One of my favourite places to eat in Hull, I have dined here many times and have thoroughly enjoyed it every time.
Probably the best restaurant in Hull. Excellent food, great wine, attentive staff and a scenic location. A little costly, but you get what you pay for! Thank you for a lovely evening.
The food that we ordered was amazing and the service which was provided was equally as impressive. The beer and wine which was on offer was very good.
We had a lovely evening-food was delicious, atmosphere was just right with a good warm buzz. Staff were very friendly & accomodated our bairn in a pushchair too!! Thankyou very much!
This was a pre theatre lunch. It was warm and welcoming. Excellent attentive service without being intrusive. Menu choices excellent. We chose from the set menu and enjoyed two well presented delicious courses. The hake was beautifully cooked. This was my second visit and would definitely go back when next in Hull.
Absolutely fantastic food and service! From the initial reminder call to finishing the meal everything was outstanding, The first time I have visited 1884 and it certainly will not be the last!
The friendly welcome, the amazing service, the unbelievable food and the gorgeous wines made this a very special evening. Would not hesitate to recommend this experience to anyone and everyone.
Great food, great ambience, great service. The set lunch menu was I imaginative and beautifully presented. Excellent! This is the place to come when visiting the UK City of Culture.
Really good service from attentive and knowledgeable staff, superb food and the set market menu is excellent value as well - also worth paying the little extra to get matching wines with that menu.
Wonderful visit. Very attentive service, lovely food and a tasteful environment. I ordered from the set menu which was excellent value for money, for a high standard of food. We brought visitors from South Africa who were very impressed with the restaurant and the service.
Nice food as always with good service. Not the menu we were expecting as the website is showing a different one but other then that was fine.
Very good quality food, very well presented; well cooked and full of complementary flavours. Service was very good. Pleasant ambiance. I would revisit and recommend.
The Food was amazing. It Did take a long time to be served but worth the wait. Would definitely book again for another special occasion.
Excellent food best steak I have had and service excellent a little disappointed with the cappuccino half a cup. Surrounding beautiful too would definitely recommend
Very good food as always for a special occasion. On the negative side it was disappointing that on arriving, the black sheep ale from pump was not available (husbands first choice) and his second was not available either so had to resort to bottled ipa. Whilst the gentleman ( co owner?) taking the order was professional , a smile would not go amiss!!
From the reviews and rating, this restaurant did not live up to my expectations. Service was ok but not to a very high standard. I ordered fillet steak which was over cooked. All in all an ok meal but would not return.
The food and drinks were lovely, however the atmosphere wasn’t very good at all. The restaurant was reasonably full but it was extremely quiet. I don’t think I would go again.
Good food and good waiting staff. Total respected our deafness. Lovely surrounding and atmosphere. At the end of the meal, the staff were latched on to the sign language for "Thank you" and cake for my partner's birthday was totally unexpected. She smiled non-stop
great evening at a really great restaurant ! food was excellent, service was warm & friendly without being over the top,but nothing was missed,as a glass was empty someone would politely ask if it needed refilling ect . ect. It is also nice that we never felt rushed or pressured everything just flowed seamlessly . thanks 1884 you gave us a very special night
Lovely food and service as always. The Sunday lunch menu is brilliant. Not bad priced considering the standard of food. Staff were friendly and attentive.
We had the 3 course lunch menu This was really good value each dish was well presented and very tasty The service was excellent Definitely be going back
