Beautiful food in a lovely atmosphere. Service was excellent by our 2 main waiter/waitress, very friendly and helpful. Nothing negative at all to say about the place!

As always excellent food, service and atmosphere. The prices may seem high to some, but it is well worth that little bit more. Always a pleasure.

Amazing food as always. Cooked to perfection. Staff polite and helpful. Only downside I think is the selection of wines not being as good as they used to be.

Restaurant was very well presented, food good, however the staff member dealing with our table was not the most welcoming and miserable in her demeanor.

Really well appointed and stylish restaurant. The sunday lunch menu appeared to be excellent value for money, friendly staff and a good wine list. I would rate thisrestaurant just below the maxium because there was a lengthy wait between courses , almost approaching too long. There would seem to be a case for strengthening communication between front of house and kitchen. The main courses were good but not exceptional. The Cheese course was very good. I would probably go again.

Outstanding service. Quality of food was amazing. Menu choice was fabtastic. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff. Can't wait to go and visit again.

Great food, fairly good price for money, but very long wait for food. Seemed as though one waitress was doing all the work while the other just sauntered around.

A fantastic experience all round, with a great environment in both bar and restaurant, unhurried but pleasant and efficient service and truly terrific food. Would recommend to anyone looking for something special in Hull.

I REALLY dont understand why ANY restaurant would have a menu priced without VAT. Tell your customers the price they will pay! the restaurant was cold, the service was aceptable, the flavours were very good

We a party of four had the three course fixed menu. Every course was excellent and could not be faulted. Great value for the level of food offered.

It was my birthday and the entire experience was absolutely splendiferous! Fantastic atmosphere, beautiful interior decor and professional and polite staff. My entire party of 8 all enjoyed the experience and said everyone of their meals was splendid!

For the price I would have expected a cleaner less shabby environment, and the portions were small although delicious. I found the whole experience over priced, even with the free complimentary drinks for poor service. We waited over an hour for our main course despite a half empty establishment and things not being available on the menu as stated

Friendly, helpful and patient staff. The food was exceptional and the restaurant is well planned. It was lunchtime with few customers which gave the staff time to see to our ordering quietly and efficiently.

Food was tasty enjoyable and our server was friendly and attentive . The bread and butter was yummy . I was so pleased to hear that the restaurant was helping the homeless by giving them lunches , what a great thought well done x

Food was excellent as was the service. Lovely relaxed atmosphere it wasn't ridiculously busy especially with it been Christmas. We wasn't rushed and will definitely be going back.

A beautiful dining room with our table overlooking the marina. Top quality ingrediants made for a splendid Iunch with some real twists including the scallops with celeriac and walnut ice cream.

What an awesome place! Brilliant service, brilliant food and the Guvnor pours a mean gin. I would recommend this place to anybody looking for a proper dining experience.

An excellent lunch-time experience. The staff were just right - accommodating and helpful but not at all "in your face". We chose the Christmas Special menu and were not disappointed. The food was hot, tasty and interesting.

We had a fantastic meal for my Mother-in-laws 70th birthday, the food was excellent and the staff extremely friendly and helpful, there was a slight mistake with one of our starters which we didn't even notice and we were given a full round of drinks on the house which included wine, and there were seven of us in our party. All of our party fully enjoyed the meal and the dining experience and will definitely be returning to the restaurant again.

Very nice atmosphere, but was let down down a few things, only had 1 bottle of the wine we wanted, the food seemed to lack flavours and seasoning, and when the waiter was showing us the cheese trolly he kept touching all the cheese.

On a very cold night this was a warm and welcoming place to be. Great food. Excellent and varied wine list. Excellent service. Came to explore the City of Culture and found a great restaurant. Will certainly travel here again from the opposite western edge of Yorkshire. My best meal in ages.

Exceptional food, very welcoming, attentive service and a wonderful unhurried meal meant that we had one of the best dining experience for a while. Prices are fair and good value for the quality. Thoroughly recommended!

Easy booking process on line, tried ringing and received a call back when wanting to make a change to booking. Experienced good ambience, food and service.

We were unavoidably late and rang them but they kindly kept the table and were nice about it when we apologised. The one vegetarian main but, when we asked, they offered another, too. Good food as usual. We'll eat there again.

Venue looks nice and good location but the food was basic and overpriced for a Sunday lunch and the service was very slow also we we were told they would make a fuss because of a birthday clelebration but we got nothing !!

Best restauarant in Hull by a margin. Great food, mostly from locally sourced produce including some seasonal game dishes and the beef dripping triple cooked chips are really outstanding. Service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble.

A bit dark, hard to read the menu. Service was a bit slow. Food was great but expensive. 1884 used to be fantastic but overall the attention to detail has slipped as prices have gone up.

This was our first visit to 1884. We couldn't fault it. The food was excellent and the service exemplary. We had Sunday lunch and thought it well priced. The only tiny criticism is that the coffee arrived before the desserts..... A really lovely restaurant for a special occasion.

Top class service, excellent food and wines, definitely best restaurant in hull. The dessert menu is something to be inspected and try to make room fo dessert as even though thoice is difficult, you cannot choose wrong. My baked Alaska was particularly excellent in the flavours of a black forest gateau.

The service in this restaurant is fantastic and they cant do enough for you. The food was amazing and cooked to perfection. Don't miss out on the cheese board - wide variety of local cheeses to tickle your taste buds. Would recommend this restaurant without hesitation.

Excellent staff, great service and fantastic food - although pricey if you deviate from the set menu, which we did and received a bit of bill-shock!
