Easy booking process on line, tried ringing and received a call back when wanting to make a change to booking. Experienced good ambience, food and service.
This was our first visit to 1884. We couldn't fault it. The food was excellent and the service exemplary. We had Sunday lunch and thought it well priced. The only tiny criticism is that the coffee arrived before the desserts..... A really lovely restaurant for a special occasion.
Excellent food and service, all in all a lovely time with friends. Only complaint would be one of the loose had run out of toilet roll!!!
Went for lunch, certainly recommend. The food was lovely and the service excellent. R e l a x e d f r I e n d l y place.
The meal was faultless and the service excellent. The market menu was terrific value for money and we were able to substitute the offer of fizz for wine with no problem.
The finest beef i can remember on Sunday- service superb, we will be returning soon to savour the atmosphere further. The quality of the food and experience represented excellent value for money.
Delicious food, with a lovely set menu for which was great value! It is a fabulous place, with very attentive staff! Highly recommended recommended :-)
The set menu offers a good quality selection at a very reasonable price. The venison suet pudding was delicious. Drinks and cocktails made a good experience a great experience.
Fine dining in an impressive setting. Good food and a decent range of wines. Friendly, unobtrusive service. All at a reasonable cost, especially if you opt for the set menu..
Good food cooked from fresh ingredients with delicious sauces to enhance the dishes. Efficient but non intrusive service with panoramic views of Hulls wayside. This is a jewel in Hulls City of Culture.
Food as always was very good. I took some clients and although the service was friendly, we waited 1 hour 15 between the starter and main. the starter also took 20 to 30 minutes. This is too long and unacceptable.
Lovely food but waiting a long time between starter and main coming , was given a glass of champagne each to apologise for the wait though
Welcoming & friendly atmosphere, staff attentive and helpful, not rushed, food excellent plenty of choice, would definitely recommend for a special evening out with partner or family
Another great evening spent at 1884 celebrating my graduation. Food, wine, atmosphere and service were all excellent. Cant wait until we book our next evening there.
Lunch on first time visit to Hull. Lovely set menu, excellent value for money, food and service and stylish restaurant. Would definitely recommend booking, would go again.
Excellent food that was served by happy waiting staff in a pleasant milieu. The food was clearly made with not just skill, but passion as well. Recommended!
When arriving there was no room to sit in front area.service was very slow and when my steak came it was not cooked correctly .
superb every thing very professional food excellent well organised you must visit and enjoy the experience.Food is well sourced and well presented you wont be disapointed
Wow, just wow. Great food and ambience. Will always take our guest with business to their going forward. Fantastic service an all round enjoyable experience.
We were a party of 6 to celebrate my birthday and the meal, service and general ambiance were perfect. I particularly liked the Wine List including an extensive listing of "Gins"!
The prices have increased a lot since my last visit so 2 course dinner for two with low end wine was £120. so my review is based on value for money. The food quality was very good.
Great place to eat in Hull City of Culture. Interesting and varied menu and excellent service. Great ambience too in historic building overlooking the marina. Highly recommended!
Excellent food and excellent service as always in a lovely environment. We will be going back next week for more. Don't be put off by the road and pathway works that currently blight most of the city, it's worth it.
Excellent food. Very friendly service. We had a six year old child with us and they were able to accommodate her efficiently. Would highly recommend
Food was gorgeous. I had the stone bass and husband had venison. I loved it because everything tasted delicious from the pre dinner bread to the cappuccino at the end. Service excellent too.
Really outstanding food and fantastic service. We enjoyed our experience from start to finish. Would recommend to anyone and will certainly be going back there.
Had a three course Sunday lunch there. It was great and the service was excellent. Fab atmosphere and good value at £25.00 for three courses. Would definitely go again!
lovely place friendly staff great food a bit pricey but worth it for something a bit special we had soup for starters which was nice and tasty, Sunday roast for mains, and cheese board for desert which was excellent.
Have been a few times over the years. Service & food not what it used to be. Wow factor is loosing on food presentation. I actually enjoyed the Sausage Roll the most out of the food.
A very nice restaraunt ,very attentive staff . very nice deco & facilities . Menu was good , food excellent . Would wholeheartedly recomend it.
A quality restaurant with a very attentive waiters and a good selection of wines. We went for the chef's 3 course selection all with aspects locally of sourced produce. Superb presentation and flavours. The menu is pricey, so this was one saved for a special occasion!
Great service. Excellent food. Lovely surroundings. We had the Sunday lunch and cheese course to follow. Lots of different cheeses to suit all pallettes! Will definitely return again to try the weekday menu.
Great food and service as always. The autumnal menu was really interesting ,I tried a sample from my friends plate of Partridge it was delicious and my Mackeral main was stunning. Thank You 1884DSK we will be back soon
Top class food excellent service and friendly staff. Looking forward to dining here again. This was a birthday meal and the staff couldn't be more attentive!
The restaurant is very nice, the staff were very professional, really pleased with the food, we had the Sunday dinner, will be definitely going back and taking family next time
Delicious lunch as always. Attentive service as standard! Good to see this restaurant remaining popular with local families and business reps across lunchtime. Thank you
We received brilliant food and service, Would Highly Recommend this restaurant and location along the Marina is the perfect setting. We will be returning .
Excellent food and great location and ambience. All 4 of us were very pleased with main courses. Service can be a bit slow I have heard from others, but was good tonight.
The food & setting were excellent & the set lunch menu was exceptional value. I really enjoyed the a la Carte - cooked oysters & sea trout. The service was a little disappointing - a bit slow & the staff were not particularly helpful when I asked if adjustments could be made for my sensitivities to onions & cows milk
My Fiance and I booked at 1884 on Saturday 22nd of October. On arrival we were escorted to our table where our coats were taken by the concierge. The service from then on just got better and better. As for the meal from the starters to the final dessert was absolutely Michelin star quality. The ambience, food and service made this one of the best evenings my fiance and I have ever experienced. We will be back and will recomend to all we know Brian & Rita
Always dine here when on business in Hull, it's the best . Needs more activity in marina area. New tapas bar will be good when it opens
A great experience from start to finish. Enjoyed the welcome and a pre-meal drink in the bar. The food and service was excellent and will be back for more.
We were met at the door and shown to some seats whilst waiting for our table to be ready. The wait wasn't that long and then ordered our food which arrived and was absolutely delicious but the one thing that ruined the evening and the experience was one of your miserable waiting staff who couldn't manage a smile all evening and it didn't look like she she wanted to be there. Everything we asked her seemed to be an effort for her.
The place itself is excellent, the staff were very helpful and 'nice' The taster balls were unseasoned and a little tasteless The starters ( rabbit ) and mains ( bass ) were high quality and well presented but did not have a 'wow' factor that I was expecting..........the house white ( a rule that I always do on a first visit ) was pleasant not memorable. Overall I was very slightly disappointed, my wife loved it, the other 3 less impressed
Wonderful food and a great location. Great staff and reasonable prices for the quality of the food, i am rubbish at reviews but have minimum word count.
As always fantastic food and service. The market place menu is without a doubt the best meal deal in the East Riding. Love the place can't wait to go back.
great place and amazing food. atmosphere was superb and will definitely return
It was worth negotiating the docklands building works to enjoy an excellent lunch at 1884 Dock Street Kitchen. The food was delicious, the staff attentive and cheerful and the decor interesting. The prices were relatively high but not exceptionally expensive for the quality of the menu. Definitely worth a visit, we will be back.
Exceptional food, wine and service, will definitely be visiting again in the near future. The atmosphere was good and didn't feel pretentious which is something I was concerned about. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Great food, lovely building, great atmosphere (especially as my visit was a Tuesday evening!), good wine list - I'd like to visit again and would recommend.
