Lovely home cooked Italian food. Nice intimate atmosphere. Good wine list. Service a bit slow on clearing away plates, but that would be my only criticism.

Gorgeous food, a distinctive and exciting departure from the usual Italian menu (though you can find some classics, too), lovely service and a fab Montepulciano vino - what's not to like?

The food was a bit hit and miss, my Pasta Vongole was at least 40% grit. Other dishes were good, service was great. Probably wont go back

Dinner at 500 is always a wonderful experience and it gets better with each visit! The crab starter is my favourite and the special hake dish I chose last night was absolutely delicious. See you again soon!

Our third visit to this neighbourhood favourite restaurant. Lovely authentic Italian with a simple menu including great fresh pasta. The special pasta with truffles was amazing. Reasonably priced with good service.

Nice atmosphere (would recommend sitting away from the window since Holloway Road detracts from the Italian feel!) Food was clearly made fresh and was good value. Service was noticeably very friendly. Good location from Archway station.

The food was outstanding and the service informal and charming. The double entry door is effective in keeping the restaurant warm in cold windy weather. The price was extremely reasonable.

I have been going to this restaurant every few months from when it opened and have never had a bad meal. It is one of my favourite restaurants--- excellent tasty interesting Italian food---wonderful pasta dishes always perfectly al dente-- good fish- rabbit, veal chops etc. Short very good value Italian wine list. I have nothing bad to say except that it can be noisy but not on a Monday evening.

Haven't been here for a while, but food is still excellent and great value. Bruschetta 500 with Gorgonzola and honey is a lovely version, ravioli with spinach and Italian sausage delicious, veal chop - actually a t-bone - perfectly seasoned and cooked. A local gem!

The food is excellent and so is the service and ambience - very authentic Italian. My friend who came with me thinks it is excellent too. I have always had a good experience here and will come back soon.

What a lovely local restaurant and a great find in what is a bit of culinary desert. Despite the hustle and bustle of the Archway end of Holloway Road the restaurant is a haven of buzzy tranquillity. Great menu with daily specials, food lovely and so nice to get rabbit on the menu. Waiting staff very nice indeed and the place is an all round winner. We will be back.

Great for lunch. Tasty home made style food with a bit extra. The pecorina pasta mini starter is well worth the visit. As is the burrata

Great little restaurant with excellent Italian food in Archway where you struggle to find a decent restaurant for a Friday date night. We had starters and main, all courses delicious and not just basic Italian menu. The only slight downsize was the wine which came recommended by the waiter but which we didn't like. Booking recommended as it gets busy on weekends.

Food was excellent, as on our previous visit. We had a very enjoyable evening. The staff were very helpful and a pleasure to deal with.

wonderful lamb chops less so guinea fowl - huge portions. Good service and always charming. We both enjoyed our salad starters as well but never enough room left for puds!

500 is a lovely restaurant. It was wonderful to have such a terrific place near us, although I first heard about it from my brother who lives further away. The food is distinctive and always delicious- there are regular features such as rabbit and the delicious sharing cold plate of salamis and cold meats, but always special dishes. The service is unobtrusive but warm. The acoustics are very good, it is never too noisy. Reliably brilliant.

The quality of the food, especially the cheeses, is excellent. No frills, just good cooking. We have eaten here several times and will continue to do so

A relaxed local Italian with really excellent food & wine. Really reasonably priced. Great for meeting with friends or larger group celebrations. We have done both there.

Shared starter plate not up to usual standard. Everything else - mains excellent (lamb, tuna, contorni) all cooked to perfection. Service, as always, was attentive without being intrusive. Waiter's recommendation for red wine was spot on. All in all, the usual festive dining experience despite the slight let down of opening act. We continue to love 500.

Italian food done really really well - from bruchettas, pasta, roasted rabbit to lam chops. Large portions so no room for puddings, wish hadn't front-loaded so much! Service not ultra-friendly but competent.

Delicious food - it was imaginative but unpretentious. Pleasant, efficient service. It is wonderful to have a local restaurant like this. I wish it was easier to get into.

We had the shared platter to start. a nice way to sample and we were not disappointed. Everything was delicious. The pasta we ordered was also very good, al dente as should be, with wonderfully rich and velvety sauces. The service was excellent, friendly and attentive. The only let down was the decor. It is not as elegant as the food. And I did not like the slight unpleasant smell of cleaning product in the restaurant. But even that did not spoil the experience. We will definitely return .

I'm always astounded by what good value 500 is. The standard of cooking is very high and the bill always surprisingly small. They also have a great selection of reasonably priced wines. The food is delicious, especially the pasta. Our favourite is the beef ragu which is meaty and rich. We always have the selection of starters - you get to try a bit of everything and it's a generous amount for two. A wonderful neighbourhood restaurant but worth travelling for too.

Very nice place! We had the mixed starters Tagliere 500 which was excellent. Most of the mains were very good, we thought they could've been more seasoned and a risotto could have been more mushy for our taste but it was definitely all'onda. We had excellently cooked hake!

We had a truly excellent meal and found all the staff extremely courteous and helpful (especially concerning my intolerance of onions - rather inconvenient in an Italian restaurant!)

If you go to an Italian restaurant called 500 in Holloway Road, you won't be disappointed. The food is outstandingly good and the Italian waiters delightful. One always gets a warm welcome.

I feel lucky to have this great local restaurant. We love a sharing starter which has a lot of variation, which fits for summer evening especially. Service was very friendly.
