Bird in Hand

As soon as we walked into the Bird in hand the noise really hit us and it didn't get any better. We were with friends and couldn't have a conversation. We had to wait an hour for our food. The service was poor. This was our first and our last visit! Very disappointing!!!

Great pub restaurant with as always a welcome from staff and quality food from a comprehensive menu cooked and served well in a timely manner, at a reasonable cost. Many thanks

Very good meal and service on a busy Saturday evening. Only adverse point, our table was just outside of the main restaurant area but it didn't really make a lot of difference

The Bird in Hand is local to us and its upgrade two years ago was very welcome. We have eaten there a few times and always thought the food was very good. Our experience on Saturday night did nothing to change our mind about the quality and presentation of the dishes served. The décor is charming and the seating comfortable. Service was also generally very good. The only downside for us was that the restaurant was very noisy and, given that this was our Valentine's meal, it was often hard to hear each other talk! I'm not sure much can be done about this but, sadly, it will probably prevent us eating in the restaurant again. Fine for birthday parties, not so good for couples.

Have been here many times and as always great food, reasonably priced and friendly staff although potato with calves liver was very salty. Would recommend to friends.

Great food, Lobster and Steak Dianne were wonderful, shame about the atmosphere, the place is too noisy. Hard floors and walls plus music up too loud.

Fantastic food and great atmosphere! Expresso Martinis are the best I've had. Menu is not extensive but a good variety , well presented and delicious. Staff are friendly and professional. My only fault with it is that I can't walk there!

Good food well prepared and value for money. Good and prompt service. We have been to this pub previously and will be eating there again.

We took an elderly aunt to the Bird in Hand and had a lovely time. The ambiance was very pleasant, the staff welcoming and the meal was great. One had a burger which was very good and two of us had bubble and squeak with gammon and egg and this was delicious - would highly recommend it. We also had banana split for dessert which again was delicious, served with icecream, a strawberry and a chocolate sauce.

Lovely atmosphere and the food gets better and better! Have been several times and service and food have improved every time. Would recommend it to anyone.

Delicious food, the staff were really helpful friendly and efficient! No long waits to be served! Need to book as the restaurant gets booked up! You can eat in the pub itself if you cannot get a table in the restaurant!

Table location very noisy.Table cleared 45 mins after booking time. Service whilst bouncy was slow ,viz tables being reset rather than responding in a timely to service request.

Very busy and menu choice limited but this could be because there is a separate Christmas menu now. Food very good although lack of serving staff caused long delays between courses. Very noisy in the restaurant but would go back

The staff were courteous and knowledgeable about the menu which is innovative with surprising mixes of ingredients. The meal was excellent, well presented and worth every penny. Recommended.

Dinner for 4 on a Thursday evening for my son's birthday. Excellent service, food quality very good, I can highly recommend that 'aged' steaks which we like rare, they were cooked to perfection. All staff very welcoming and attentive and sorted out the birthday cake and candles we brought with us! Very pleasant evening in comfortable surroundings. Highly recommended.

Came here for a Sunday birthday lunch. The food was delicious but not child orientated and service was very slow for such a small restaurant.

Excellent meal. Very attentive staff and ambience as good as ever. I recommend the squid for starters and the Cumberland sausage . Lovely bottle of Sauvignon Blanc

Good food nicely presented. The whole experience was better than expected since the change of management. Well worth a try for Sunday lunch, we will return.

Food and service was excellent except for the coffee, very disappointing cappuccino and espresso too large and watery, will go again as food is excellent!

The roast was excellent, the sweet wonderful, and the service very good. Very good value for money. The bar and restaurant are very noisy, although we went on a Sunday which was super busy.

Everything was OK, just OK. A nice night out, nothing special. Which means everything: food, service and ambiance could do with improvement. Awkward moment: after our main course they took away our plates, we had finished our food and drinks, and then we waited... at an empty table...

Service was lovely, staff are great, and the sunday roast offering is lovely definitely a place to go at the weekend with family or friends, do make sure you book!

The lunch time menu was extensive and we were really pleased to see that there were two sizes for some dishes. The food was beautifully presented, and the chips were perfectly cooked; crispy on the outside and soft in the middle! The service was friendly and efficient. We look forward to our next visit.

I met some friends for lunch and had Excellent food. The sharing mezze was fab and the risotto, delicious! The staff were very attentive and there was a great atmosphere ! Will definitely be back !

The Bird in the Hand was recommended to me and some friends and I had a lovely evening. The tables were very attractively set and the service very friendly and helpful. The menu offered great choices, the food was beautifully arranged on the plate and was extremely tasty.

The best pub style meal we have had for a very long time. Presentation and food was great. Lovely atmosphere, super staff, comfy seats, we will definitely be back and have already recommended to a number of people. Keep it up.

Gorgeous food, awesome service and beautiful interior. Try steak as it's absolutely worth it. Great selection of spirits, local and craft. Whatever the dish- presentation is impeccable!

Quality food in a relaxed environment, eager to help with dietary requirements. We visited at lunchtime which wasn't the busiest time so difficult to rate speed of service, but overall experience was very good.

Food excellent and the presentation done with care. Service was just right allowing time between each of the courses. Good pub food. Would definitely go back.
