We had never tried Russian food before so this was a new experience for us. The staff were very pleasant and efficient. The drinks were a bit on the slow side in arriving but in fairness the restaurant was exceptionally busy. (Always a good sign). The food was delicious, plentifully and well presented. We will be back next time we're in Glasgow.

I love this place. Food is very authentic, reasonably priced and portions amazing. I often ask for a dish that is not on the evening menu, nothing too much trouble. A quirky decor, friendly staff all make for a brilliant atmosphere.

Great restaraunt. All the dishes we ordered were great and the staff was very friendly. There were some dishes i didnt think i would like like but to my surprise all of them were very good. I would recommend the pork shashlik and the babushka blintz.

As always a warm welcome to this buzzing temple of good food. Superb dishes and the friendliest staff you will ever find makes the Russian Cafe a must visit destination. We were celebrating exam results and graduations and the atmosphere was great. Every dish is lovingly creates and appreciated by customers and judging by the packed tables on a very wet Thursday evening a booking is recommended to avoid disappointment. You must go and sample for yourself.

Large choice, nice food, cheap shots and cocktails. Had the salmon and mussels, dessert pancakes and honey and thoroughly enjoyed it with coconut chocolate shot and pina coladas.

Good service, decent selection of dishes on the menu. Interesting decor and artwork, only downside and this is minimal is that the chairs can be a bit uncomfortable but perhaps that is a nod to the harsh times in the USSR!

I had heard good reports about Café Cossachok and it was busy with a few Russian customers which is normally a good sign but I felt the food was bland and not really enjoyable. The staff were very pleasant and the place is well decorated and pleasant surroundings , however the door to an internal area was opened and it was drafty and children were allowed to play there so it was noisy and distracting.

Food was excellent. It was something a bit different and also more healthy than our usual restaurant fare. I had the borscht and vegetable stuffed pancakes with orange sauce. Both excellent and we will definitely be back again! Very helpful and polite waiting staff also.

I went to this restaurant largely because of the good reviews I saw. The menu looked extremely interesting and we had to turn away the waitress twice before we were ready to order because it was such a difficult decision. The food was excellent, the restaurant spacious and noise levels low, so even though there was music on, conversation wasn't difficult (a major plus point there!!). Finished the meal with superb coffee with vodka, honey, chocolate, coconut and cream! The staff were friendly, attentive and patient, making for a very relaxed experience. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant and I plan to go back soon.

A very pleasant atmosphere where excellent food was served by attentive and accommodating waiting staff. Moldavian Gouvetch and the St Petersburg blintzes were hearty and tasty. I recommend this restaurant that shows its prowess from behind the red curtain.

Went for mothers day with my toddler, husband and our mothers, couldn't have been better! Reasonably priced set menu, delicious food, helpful and friendly staff, high chair available and noone grumbling because the little one wanted to wander round. What a refreshing place to be. We will most definitely be returning! The blintzs were delicious, salads authentic & yummy. Meat was perfectly cooked, desserts simple but to die for. Nice strong coffee and a kids menu my son actually wanted to eat!

Lovely food (I especially enjoyed the duck!), with good, friendly service. The place has clearly had a major upgrade since I was last there some years ago, as it's a lot larger and very airy. Definitely adding it to my list of places to go more often.

Bought this as a Groupon deal - starter, main with a shot of vodka. Although hubby and I enjoyed the meal, I can't help shake the feeling that it was more about the novelty of the experience of us getting out. The staff were all pleasant and unobtrusive. There was very little waiting time for our food. The food itself wasn't amazing but something a little different. We both enjoyed the borscht soup starter, which came with rye bread and sour cream. It was quite salty (and I like salty), so any larger portion than what we were served might have been too much for my throat. It was delicious. Hubby ordered the fried ravioli, which had little beef / pork pillows inside. It was a good size serving, drenched in a creamy, cheesy sauce. Definitely stodgy comfort food. I ordered the lamb kebabs, which were moist, delicious and beautifully seasoned. the roast potatoes and salad that accompanied it were bland and underwhelming and not what I would expect a restaurant to serve but they were alright. The ambience is warm and peaceful but it felt a bit cheapened and "pub-like" because of the two giant screens playing a Russian comedy film with the sound off. It would have been a nicer use of this tech to have the sound up a little and playing traditional music or footage of the region. The décor is interesting but they could do with a little more of it spread around the room. I loved the matryoshkas in the window, but once you're seated, you can't see them. Perhaps they could be dotted around the place? My main gripe niggled me throughout the meal and ever since. Basically, the small print on the voucher says "menu is seasonal and subject to change". Fair enough, you think, expecting that to refer to available produce. Nope. it's probably the get-out clause for the A4 sized restricted menu for voucher users. We didn't expect that. While the choice of starters was good, the mains were very limited. I suppose we enjoyed the food, but we wouldn't have minded paying a surcharge for a fuller range. We saw people having lovely skewers of meat taken to their table and we wished we had the choice. Also the drinks menu boasts an impressive range of flavoured vodkas, all the same reasonable price. However, us voucher peasants were only allowed a choice of cranberry (or maybe it was nail polish remover) and plain vodka. That was disappointing as I drooled over the idea of salted caramel vodka and pear vodka. Being on a strict budget, we only ordered a couple of soft drinks in addition to our "allowance" to allow us to leave a fair sized tip. All-in-all, we paid £19 and got £19 worth. No way was it a £37 "deal" as we thought from Groupon. We enjoyed it but not sure we subscribe to the hype about the place. I can't help feeling that's simply a novelty value. By all means, go along (without a voucher), especially if they have live music as their websites state they have from time to time. I expect that makes it an even better dining experience.

Food was fine and the waitresses were excellent but there was a 30+minute wait for the Chicken Kiev which the waitress had to explain. I feel this warning should be on the menu. Also there was no lamb for the skewer dish. I had to have the chicken, which was excellent, with two full skewers. I've been here six times in the past year and would still come back. Price of wine and drinks very reasonable.
