We usually have a fabulous experience at Cote but yesterday was no where near as good. The food was excellent but the service was poor. We were downstairs where there are no windows and there is no atmosphere. The service was slow; a beer we had ordered on arrival only arrived when we prompted the waiter towards the end of the meal and the veg arrived when we had virtually finished our meal. The Manager did apologise and reduced the bill but I am afraid to say the overall experience was not what we have enjoyed at this restaurant in the past.
Great restaurant in a good central location. Fantastic food and service enjoyed by both myself and my wife for a pre show meal. Will book again.
Excellent,classy...exceptional food....good time to go at 5.30pm. The asparagus was to die for and the baguette beautiful presented. The staff happy and I could ve married any of the waitresses!
Fine as always, great service and superb value. I come from a place where they also know what good food is, however at a much higher price. My colleagues and I are totally into Cote. Never a glitch. This time I have a suggestion. To change from the eternal Sauvignon blanc we had a Macon Villages; not faulty but rather bland; in fact unbecoming to what we are used to at Cote. It can be removed from the wine list. That said, it is a minor critique; one can always find something and my suggestion does not diminish in any way the great value, good food and friendly service we are privileged to receive at Cote.
Efficient service despite being very busy. However both our steaks were a little cold as the waiter had to wait until a waitress was available to unload tray containing our meal
We Went for the 3 course pre-theatre menu which had a good choice and was served up very nicely. Staff were friendly and service was good.
we arrived at 5.30 and ordered at 5.40. The main course was not served till 6.40. We had to eat it hurriedly to get to theatre for 7.00. No apology. It's a restaurant in the heart of theatrerland and we were entertaining clients. Go figure out our frustration and dissapointmemt. lots of other options, never with you again.
Excellent service and food. Would recommend to anyone especially if requiring good value for money reasonably quick service, but best to book at peak times.
Very good service & tasty food. Happy to return again & recommend to others for quality & price. Great location for theatre visits & Covent Garden.
A lovely welcome at the door, lively and efficient service, excellent food, and a super atmosphere. A great end to a wonderful day out at the theatre.
Excellent service and good food. The only bad experience was the salad looked a little wilted, but it was hot! I have eaten here before and would do so again.
As outstanding quality and value as ever. We come here every time we go to the theatre in London and have never been disappointed. Highly recommended!
Great choices on the a la carter menu. Although I think the waiter might have been fairly new as we got offered desserts and main courses that we hadn't ordered, and got given the wrong bill - ours was cheaper !
The experience was awful the waiter took no interest in out table and was extremely rude until his family/friends arrived whereby he smiled and was all over them! Really disappointed with service and the food was average
Although the service was patchy today, we enjoyed the lunch menu choosing salmon starter and sea bass main course, with a nice bottle of fizz. The Tom sphere was relaxed and friendly.
Good ambiance, good food and value for money. Very enjoyable and would recommend the venue. Cote are always reliable. That covers it very well. 👍🙂👍...
Very enjoyable meal, I reckon the Cote rib-eye steak is consistently the best in London. Very good service, no delays. One minor gripe was the the level of background noise, but then again the venue was full. We will definitely keep going to Cote (various London branches).
Friendly and efficient service. Good food and great location. Advise you to book in advance as lots of people were turned away. Would go again.
Great food and great service. We both had something from the Specials menu: my hubby had the Lamb with roasted fennel and I the Duck Confit. He asked for the lamb to be rare and it was beautifully tender. My confit was up to French standards...although the salardaise potatoes could have done with a bit more garlic, but that might just be my preference. Will definitely try other branches around the country now.
Food and service were both excellent at Cote, St Martins Lane. Had the set menu which is really good value in London. We will be returning.
Pre-theatre menu was excellent. Good selection from which to choose, well prepared and presented. Waitress was brilliant. Despite the fact that the restaurant was packed, we felt really comfortable and in safe hands.
Having had good experiences at Cote in Woking and Guildford, I didn't actually stay to eat anything in Covent Garden. The main restaurant looked ok albeit the tables are really close together, but the available table I was shown to was in the basement. This was a stuffy, crammed full with tables and totally characterless space which is to be avoided - people must have been really hungry to pay good money to eat in such an unpleasant space. Cote should do better, but I guess given the area of London there is a regular client base.
Diverse pre-theatre menu, though, for a pre-theatre meal the service is sometimes slow. Need to ensure you time manage your meal so you're not late. Would go again.
The service was great but unfortunately we both ordered chicken. My husbands salad and my grilled 1/2 chicken We're both so dry as to be almost inedible. Very sad since even with the extreme noise factor we do love the menu MInus the chicken...and the restaurant.
An excellent meal which was very good value for money. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and the location was very convenient for the theatre.
Good deal for pre-theatre menu. We were sitting downstairs in a corner but very prompt service and attention from waiting staff. For 3 people including service and soft drink each £56 - very enjoyable for central london location
Busy time and manager did all he could to ensure minimal delays against booking times. Meal ok but 1 order was wrong and took help from Manager to speed up replacement . Staff friendly .
Cheap and cheerful post theatre menu. Always reliable and never disappoints. Friendly attentive staff and speedy service make for the perfect post theatre dining experience in the west end.
Lovely food and nice relaxed service. Staff were very helpful and friendly. In addition there was no pressure to finish quickly so we could enjoyed a leisurely meal. Thanks Cote!
Helpful, professsional and friendly service. Fresh food and a good range at reasonably price. Excellent location for theatre. Clean and nicely furnished surrounding. Try to sit on ground floor and near the front.
Great food at reasonable prices. A menu which caters for all palates and very good value set menus.Excellent service, attentive but not intrusive. Always a great buzz at lunchtime and in the evenings.
Excellent. Good service Good cooking Good choice of menu for a pre theatre meal Thank you very much. i would recommend it to my friends
Restaurant was very busy but the welcome we received was excellent and our server could not be faulted. The food was somewhat average and my chicken, although beaten out, was tougher than it should have been. Whilst there was nothing to complain about per se, neither was there anything to shout about. It was okay.
Very good food, very pleasant staff, but erratic service delivery, caused by the restaurant staff not using note pads for orders, just remembering or misremembering! Our side of fries did not come with our main course and by the time they arrived our main course was eaten, to avoid it going cold, apologetic waiter removed fries from the bill. Also my companion was brought the wrong dessert so again a wait whilst the correct 1 was sourced, so a bit like French faulty towers but still nice food, just use notepads!! Also glasses of rose wine were warm, but despite all this would try again if going to theatre in that area.
Great service and food. Staff were friendly and efficient. Food from the a la carte menu was excellent and from the lunch set menu was good value.
Got our order confused and not all starters brought out together. Once informed of isse still a delay just for a salad, so we delayed salad in end to come with main
Always a pleasure to visit Cote. They always serve good food at incredible prices and the service is first class. Will certainly continue using Cote
The restaurant is good but the risoto was soft. The rice was much softer than It should be. They also closed the account before we asked for desert. And they bring two bills And asked us to add them.
The service was great with all the staff being very attentive and helpful. Atmosphere was really good. All the items ordered were delicious and well presented.
From the selections of the menu, quality of food, wine & service was second to none. The food is always piping hot, excellent portions , fresh and tasty. It's always busy because it so popular but standards are never compromised. Highly recommend, but deffinalely book a table before hand as we've learnt to .
Always enjoy Cote St Martin's Lane. Great service by a cheerful, attentive and very friendly team. A must for our regular theatre visits. We'll be back
Went for lunch prior to Theatre. Arrived a little late but was warmly greeted. Despite it being very busy the service was excellent and the food very good. Would certainly use again.
We have visited this restaurant on a number of occasions. On this particular visit we arrived at 6.15pm and the restaurant was very busy; this made it a little too noisy to hear people on the opposite side of the table speaking. However, it quietened down about 7.00pm, Service was good, as was the food.
The food was fine as usual however the service was below par as they got our order wrong: having offered Badoit they brought Perrier and the wrong salad came with the main course and the right one only arrived as we were finishing our food. Nothing catastrophic just the staff seemed too rushed to concentrate properly. Didn't ruin our lunch as we had a good time but could have mattered if I was trying to impress my guest!
WE went for a pre-theatre dinner so that is very different from a more leisurely dinner. Cote has a set menu with about half a dozen choices for each course. It was £12.50 for two and £13.95 for three courses. I had a very nice starter of smooth duck pate on toasted sourbread and my wife had a sort of pancake with melted camembert (both of which were very nice) which we both followed with the typically French steak frites. It was a minute steak cooked med-rare, which it really was. The steak was fine but the portion of frites was for me a bit mean. It came in one of those now apparently compulsory tiny buckets which I must say I find rather annoying as they sit awkwardly on the plate and reduce portion size. The frites I had however were hot and crispy. I think some sort of vegetable or salad in addition would be appropriate but there was none. We drank a couple of glasses of their Cote du Rhone, very pleasant. For pud my wife had crème caramel which she enjoyed and I had ice cream. My wife liked the crème caramel. I felt the ice cream was a bit ordinary. It wouldn't cost that much more to have a luxury ice cream of which there are plenty these days. The staff were pleasant though very busy. There was one exciting and amusing incident when one waitress was bumped into by another waiter and the glass of wine she was carrying was spilt. She was so annoyed that she through the empty glass on the floor smashing it. All was cleared up quickly! So all in all it did what it said on the tine. We fed perfectly well and in good time for our show and at a very reasonable cost for central London. As an adjunct to a theatre trip I would certainly go there again but would need to try the main menu to see if it was what I wanted for an evening out in its own right..
Lovely food, a good selection of options on the menu. We were going to a show afterwards and we received great service and didn't feel rushed at all.
excellent meal and good value for a pre theatre meal and the location is handy for theatreland, very busy so would recommend booking a table
Food was delicious and very good value. As usual, staff very friendly and attentive - our visit couldn't have been better. Thank you. We had taken a friend who had never heard of the Cote Brasserie chain and she was very impressed.
Great meal and wonderful service, never disappoints and excellent value. The set menus are great value and their locations are perfect for the theatre, a must go to restaurant
Good welcome, excellent value meal (set menu). I always marvel they produce so much good food for such a reasonable price. Friendly staff and overall very enjoyable lunch. Warmly recommended.
