Côte Dorking

We called the restaurant to advise them we were running late, they said it was fine and kept our table. After rushing up with my disabled father who had to walk nearly half a mile, we found the restaurant had no gas for the last hour and couldn't serve food. They still asked us to hang around and wait for ten minutes without telling us what was going on, and tried to seat, before finally admitting it... I asked them why they didn't tell me on the phone when I called and they just said sorry, we can get you a table in Horsham if you wait we will call for a taxi .... Why would I want to pay for a taxi several miles away from where I'm staying on Christmas Eve? Livid that they weren't just upfront!

Kitchen could not seem to prepare food as ordered....toast barely seen a grill !!

As regular customers, we enjoyed the usual excellent service, drinks and food, which is why we return so often.

Things missed from our order, a coffee to start then a breakfast when sitting as a group we want to all have our food at the same time. Some of the eggs were cold in our cooked breakfast. The bill was wrong at the end (£20 over!) so we had that to deal with as well. Sorry but we really wouldn’t go again after having this very poor experience!

Love Cote, always a great meal and service. Yes, there are higher class, more expensive restaurants but when we want a great meal at a good price we head for Cote.

Despite the restaurant being very busy, we were looked after very well indeed, with excellent, food, wine and service. The atmosphere was buzzing!

The eggs Benedict looked bare and underdressed as there was no side greenery to compliment the dish. The chips came in the normal container with the paper which absorbed the grease. The Haddock Parmentier wasn’t as good as the ones we had in Cotes Reigate which had more sauce and also included spinach. The steak was served lukewarm and was nearly cold when finished. Definitely Dorking does not have the same ambience or food standards as Reigate.

It was a good experience with excellent service and the food was delicious.

My wife and I met friends in Dorking Cote for an early lunch. We arrived at 12.30 and the restaurant got busier and busier and NOISY. By the time we ate our main course we had given up trying to communicate with them. Shame because we are regulars at Dorking. We experienced similar at Cote Guildford a few weeks ago

We love Cote and go at least once a week for breakfast lunch or Dinner yesterday we went for Breakfast and I have to say the portion control was the worst it has ever been we have had our suspions they were cutting back on the portion sizes for things like scrambled eggs etc but yesterday were the worst ever I was actually embarrassed at the amoun of food my husband had on his plate in particular the scrambled egg. I didn't complain at the time as they were really busy and seemed to be very short of staff or though that is nothing new. and I like the staff plus managervery much and they treat me very well in every way my husband has commented very many times that iit was going down hill and we ought to consider a change. Sorry to be negative it's not like me but I really feel it's time to bring it to someone's attention Many thanks

We had a really enjoyable dinner with friends last night. The service was excellent from start to finish our waitress Rhiana could not have been more helpful a real credit. The food was delicious and lovely and hot.Would highly recommend a visit.

Overall a good experience on a busy Friday evening. The standard and presentation of the food was as good as many more expensive restaurants.

Always reliable fare in a congenial atmosphere, with helpful staff.

Initially a little disappointed as no Steak Frites on the menu but still enjoyed our meal.

Very disappointing main courses, steak was very gristly and somewhat under cooked and just edible; friends haddock dish was bereft of much haddock and had uncooked inedible greens in the pie. The bill was reduced for the uncooked greens but this is not the standard of meal we have been used to in the past. Maybe the chef has changed but we are reluctant to go back which is a shame as it was one of our favorite eating places in Dorking.

Went for lunch menu which was great value. The restaurant was not busy but we had a bit of a wait for the food to come. My husband's starter of eggs Benedict was cold so we had to put it back. The staff were very apologetic and came back with a hot one very quickly. For the price we paid the food was very good. Staff were friendly and attentive. Would eat in this chain again.

Sadly my langoustine starter was a funny texture. Our bill was calculated wrong and when I questioned it the waitress tried to argue. I was right so she refunded me the bit I didn’t agree with but still argued with me making me get up and look at the til. It ruined our special meal out after a very busy and exhausting day. Shame! Pizza express is much better value and the manager is very helpful. More flexibility with choices on your fixed menus would be good and some vouchers instead of free drink also maybe a nice gesture.

We were rushing to go to a show and it took 35 minutes from giving in our order to getting served and had to ask twice where our food was. No early evening meal offer unlike all other restaurants.

As regular diners at Cote in Dorking, we return for the always reliable and tasty food, good value wine and excellent service. Already booked for our next visit!

very disapointed, my wifes aperitif arrived 'before' our starter but my grandaughter and I's aperitif did not arrive until 'after' our starter and the meal courses arrived far to quickly with no time to digest the previous course, the dessert crepes were hard pre cooked and not fresh, then to be stung with an included 12.5% service charge. We will definitely not be returning to this restaurant

Excellent service and we were really impressed that our server provided a birthday drink and dessert. Only issue was the food and in particular one of the dishes from the early evening set menu, the cod. When it was placed in front of me it had a bad odor to it that I ignored so that I could eat with my guest. The mushroom soup was okay but not mushroomy enough! Other than that it was a very nice experience.
