A great meal. Excellent service. Worth the money. We will be back.
excellent food good service a bit pricy other wise everything OK
Lovely food ,1st class service would visit again very soon
Fabulous. Been many times one of the best today. Thank you.
Very good traditional British restaurant in central Carlisle. I visited on two consecutive nights, and the quality of service and the food was good on both occasions. On the second visit the restaurant was much quieter than on the previous night. If you were to visit frequently, the menu is not that extensive and you would be limited for choice, as they do not offer daily 'specials' or the similar. The mid week menu is essentially the same as the same menu offered as at weekends, but at weekends you are charged more! Drinks are on the expensive side, and no half bottles of good wine are offered, which is a disadvantage to the solo diner.
We had a lovely evening at this busy restaurant where the welcome was enthusiastic and matched by the service and cuisine. Chris and his team know about flavour and our king scallop starters and my fillet steak, and Maggie’s venison were an absolute delight- some complicated cooking here, well executed. The wine list was interestin too with a good selection of well chosen bottles. Whenever we return to Carlisle we’ll definitely head back to Davids Restaurant!
We have been to Davids on many prior occasions, and as always the food was superb. I had the beef, which was wonderful. No need to have changed the knife to a proper steak knife, a plastic one would have cut through the meat like butter! And the souffle starter should not be missed. Highly recommended. Service professional and friendly. Already looking forward to our next visit. An absolute jewel among Carlisle eateries. Thank you Davids.
Good food in a dining room with excellent ambience. The three course meal was well cooked with a reasonable wine list. There were some possible issues, the only offer was the three course evening Christmas menu, this was not obvious on the website when we booked and we would have preferred a maximum of two courses; the cheese selection was OK but could have been better, cheese with fruit in it is not my ideal; service could have been better, plates landed on the table and some of the staff seemed more interested in talking to each other or checking the phone apparently being charged close to the service area.
On the Thursday evening when I dined at David's Restaurant, it was busy, but nevertheless the service and food were of a very good standard. This restaurant is a traditional good class English restaurant. The only lapse in service was when I asked for some tap water, I had to remind them. On Thursdays you are offered their mid week menu, which is actually exactly the same as the weekend menu but somewhat cheaper! The mid week menu is reasonable value. Drinks are on the expensive side.
As always David's was a very enjoyable evening and the food and atmosphere were excellent. We were a group of 4 and all chose off the mid- week set price menu (2 or 3 courses). We all had different mains and desserts and all were excellent. We did have to wait for quite a long while for our main course (over 40 mins) but I suppose when you are producing good quality fresh food maybe the wait is worth it.
