Excellent food and service We have been on a few occasions and never been disappointed

Enjoyable evening with family. Not keen on downstairs dining room. My starter (scallops) were very small and a little overcooked but we all had steaks for mains and they were AMAZING!!

Had the most amazing birthday dinner..my husband is gluten free and it was so refreshing to be able to have 95% of the menu..and so delicious. Staff required no prompting or reminding that he was gluten free. Top marks. Excellent food and service. We will definitely be back! Thank you.

A few issues communicating with the waitress but food was exceptional as always.

Have visited on a number of occasions for lunch and it is a favourite restaurant So much so that being in Carlisle on a mini-break, we decided to introduce a couple of good friends to the place. Disappointing on this occasion. The service was very slow and all four main courses lukewarm. We sent them back, but they were little better when they returned from the kitchen. Not enjoyable. Our two starters and one pudding were very good, but the bread was unusually pretty average. I shall return and hope that it picks up.

Fantastic evening. The food was exceptional. Fresh, very tasty and well presented. A lot of care and thought had clearly gone in to it. We’ve not had such a good meal like it for a long time. Service was great too. Thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Still our #1 place for eating out in North Cumbria. Fantastic food & great service in pleasant and intimate surroundings. Excellent for Gluten free food.

Great night, the only thing was there was no cheese board which my husband would have preferred.

It was very good as usual but service slower than normal

never disappoints, have visited here frequently for over 25yrs and despite a change in ownership in that period the food and service has been consistently high...

We were early but despite this we didn't have to wait. The service was friendly and welcoming - like meeting an old friend. The meal was stunning, and not tiny little "nouveau cuisine" style portions. We had a bottle of Malbec that was really, really nice Can't wait to go back - special treat for Dad's birthday

Excellent food and service - cannot fault at all x

Had lunch there on Saturday, the tomato and red pepper soup was sublime, very tasty. Followed by chicken with sweetcorn sauce. Sounds quite simple fare but this chef knows his or her stuff. Superb flavours, and thank you to the host for the ginger ale and angustera bitters non alcoholic, or rather post alcohol drink to accompany a lovely lunch.

We were visiting Carlisle on the Settle to Carlisle railway journey so had limited time. We were served lunch promptly and in a friendly manner by staff. The food was delicious, the restaurant very attractive and all at a reasonable price. We were very satisfied.

Wonderful as ever, great food...really looking forward to a return visit sometime soon.

As always David's was a very enjoyable evening and the food and atmosphere were excellent. We were a group of 4 and all chose off the mid- week set price menu (2 or 3 courses). We all had different mains and desserts and all were excellent. We did have to wait for quite a long while for our main course (over 40 mins) but I suppose when you are producing good quality fresh food maybe the wait is worth it.
