Great food, decent service although wait between courses was long. Could have been more choice on the sweet menu however best steak have tasted for a long time.

1st visit to David’s and really enjoyed it. Food and service excellent. We had the steak which was cooked perfectly. A supplement of £6 but well worth it. Will definitely return and recommend. Thank you for a lovely experience.

elegant but still cosy , in the city but has the feel of a country house, the food was delicious I really like that the sauce for my salmon came in a separate dish so I could add as much as I wanted, everything was fresh and tasty

It's always a great treat to go to David's, easily Carlisles number one restaurant, and yesterday's visit was no exception. My partner and myself both had the steak as the main course and it was the nicest steak i have ever eaten. The starters and deserts were of the usual high standards and the service is exceptional. Already looking forward to our next visit!

As a chef I can be hard to please my partner and I could not find any thing to criticize good food and service good value for money

Food was excellent and service was great. They even had a red rose for my wife. Nice touch on Valentine’s Day. When we are next in Carlisle it will definitely result in a return visit !

Great food. Lovely relaxing, intimate atmosphere. Great service. Particularly enjoyed the beef and chicken mains. Excellent welcome glass of pink champagne for Valentines dinner. Highly recommend.

Superb as usual.... great food and ambience for our family lunch. This our 2nd visit in 8 weeks, as we had a great value Christmas meal with friends on our previous visit.....keep up the good work.

Lovely atmosphere and great food.. garlic mushrooms, chicken with a little chicken pie and then rice pudding. Divine. Not drinking on the night it was great to see mocktails on the drinks list. Strawberry and ginger was excellent.

We have dined here several times over the years, both as a couple and with a small group. The food has been excellent on every visit and the staff are always pleasant and helpful.

Great as always, very good food lovely quiet atmosphere, attentive but no over attentive staff. Nice bottle of Rioja went well with the Cumberland sausages.

We were made very welcome when we arrived. The service was excellent and the staff were very courteous. We did not wait long between courses and the food was cooked just the way we had ordered. I would recommend David’s restaurant.

Food as amazing as ever, the beef fillet melted in your mouth. Can’t recommend David’s enough, it’s my favourite place to go for a celebration. For wine we had Emily’s favourite recommended red wine Nerello Masclese by Curous Devices, very good choice in our view 😊

A faultless meal. Menu is imaginative without being pretentious. Every course was tasty and the beef was cooked to perfection. Very attentive service, pleasant ambience and the midweek tariff is excellent value for money. Nowhere better than this in Carlisle.

It was good but not as good as previously. I found the shortbread rock hard which was served with the baileys creme brûlée and the Crete brûlée it was served cold which I have never had before but I have been informed this can be the case at some places

Busy and a good atmosphere. Good not as good as we have had previously. Main course was only warm and really quite a small portion.

Not the David's experience we have enjoyed in the past. We had the Christmas dinner menu and found the starters and main meals so disappointing that my husband did not want to stay for the final course. We were one of the 1st evening sittings and it felt like we had been given the left overs from the afternoon sitting. In short, the fish starter was too fishy which questioned the freshness and the main meal was overpowered by a thickened gravy. It was presented and tasted like a basic Sunday roast. Even simple things like the water jug being warm as though it had come straight from the dishwasher. The toilets had definitely not been cleaned from the afternoon and the basket of products did not distract from the surroundings...what is with the towel rail & shared towel? it felt like someone's bedsit. The young staff seemed like they lacked leadership and lacked the quality standards previously associated with David's. I don't generally leave reviews but we feel disappointed and have since heard of others with similar experiences. Hopefully the restaurant can turn things around so that it doesn't lose its reputation.

Very good Christmas lunch. It would be a good idea to offer an extra slice of bread with the starters. Too generous with cordial in drinks.

The restaurant was full but didn’t feel busy. Atmosphere was very relaxed. Staff attentive but not too much Food was great Thoroughly enjoyed it Will be returning !

Food was excellent but service was very poor. Clearly there is a lack of good management in this restaurant. Had to go and find a member of staff to take our sweet order. Spoils what could be an excellent Restaurant.

Food faultless as usual. This is the best restaurant in Carlisle. The Christmas menu was wonderful and the pork done three ways was to die for.

Always a lovely treat to come here. Food is fantastic , cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. Have never left a morsel !! Really was delicious.

Good food in a dining room with excellent ambience. The three course meal was well cooked with a reasonable wine list. There were some possible issues, the only offer was the three course evening Christmas menu, this was not obvious on the website when we booked and we would have preferred a maximum of two courses; the cheese selection was OK but could have been better, cheese with fruit in it is not my ideal; service could have been better, plates landed on the table and some of the staff seemed more interested in talking to each other or checking the phone apparently being charged close to the service area.

Absolutely fantastic meal to celebrate my wife’s birthday, service could not be faulted. Carlisle’s best restaurant and good value for money. Can’t wait to return next year

It's been a while since we were last at David's restaurant but the meal was still exceptional. We ate from the festive menu - delightful. The staff were welcoming and friendly as always and the service was second to none. It was a wonderful dining experience. Will most definitely be back - see you soon Chris and team.

HAD A LOVELY DELICIOUS MEAL ON THURSDAY 29TH NOVEMBER. WE HAD THE CHRISTMAS MENU. ANYONE CONSIDERING GOING IT WAS A LOVELY MEAL IN BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDINGS AND POLITE AND EFFICIENT STAFF.

Great food, friendly service. Although the menu is quite small, you’re still spoilt for choice! Perfect place to celebrate my son’s graduation. Will return when next in Carlisle.

Loved the relaxed atmosphere with great service throughout the meal. And although some noted a limited menu, there should have been enough of a varied menu to provide choice even the most picky of persons (inc my other half!). The quality of food was outstanding, all round making David’s definitely worth a visit whilst visiting Carlisle!

There was only 1 thing I liked off the mains, when I look at a menu I like to be torn with choice. Here at David’s it is a very limited menu of game and fish. I asked for a medium pink steak but it was over cooked. However the steak was still tender. My plumb crumble was very sugary sweet and a little on the rich side. When I paid the girl did not bring me back my change and had I presumed thought this was a tip! If she had brought it back I would of left more!!
