The restaurant is in a Great location near the castle. The menu suited us perfectly and the food was fabulous. The service was efficient and polite. All in all -fabulous food and a lovely relaxed atmosphere.

Spent a very enjoyable evening at Fothergills on Saturday to celebrate my birthday with our friends. Excellent food, excellent service, great atmosphere - couldn't be faulted!!

Kitchen 'lost' our order. Took an hour and a half to get food. No bread was offered, we had to ask. Food arrived grossly over cooked ( it was the 'special' chicken beast wrapped in pancetta). Inedible. The waitresses were very good though. It is not their fault that they have a lousy kitchen. Will not be eating there again. Such a shame as it is in a great location with a sunny terrace looking towards the castle.

Always pleasant at Fothergills. Lunch menu has a fairly good range, good price for 2 or 3 course prix fixe, good service allowing for a 1 hour lunch break to be kept to!

The food and service at Fothergills was spot on as was the atmosphere. Having visited before Christmas as part of a large group and recently as a smaller gathering, both evenings were faultless. The location also adds to the experience as you look out over Nottingham castle

Great food full of flavour, mushrooms for starter were amazing and the main dishes were also with great quality. They have a nice menu of wines too. For the quality of the meal/lunch this is a place to return.

The quality of food has lessened since our last visit a couple of years ago. Everything was just average, steak over cooked and chewy, burger buns a bit stale/dry, chicken Caesar salad had no croutons in and 1 small tomato.

Food was as good as last visit. service not up to usual standard. Lots of waiting before being asked if we wanted drinks and in between courses.

Absolutely brilliant. The food, wine and service were all top notch. I would highly recommend this venue for a formal but relaxed night out. We really enjoyed it.

Fantastic food and cheerful service, although the service itself was quite slow. Potentially due to it being the Bank Holiday and gloriously sunny! Overall, lovey place to eat.

We went here just a few days after my boyfriend had been on his works do here. He came home and really raved about the food and the whole experience. So, I was obviously really looking to coming. The place was easy to get to and has a nice view of the castle and the old part of Nottingham. The bar itself is nice, I like the mix of tables and chairs that don't match. The decor was nice and understated with a plain brick feature wall. The music was a good mix also and we enjoyed the ambience. The staff were lovely and very friendly. The food, hmmm. Our table was booked for 5pm so it wasn't very busy at all. I ordered the fish and chips and my boyfriend ordered Chicken and chorizo pasta. His was lovely, mine was ok. The fish was tasty but the batter felt soggy in places, and some of the crispy parts were very overdone. We then ordered dessert, cheese board and the lemon brûlée. We both enjoyed the desserts. Overall I felt that the meal was good, but I was expecting a bit more.
